- Bryan Caplan is a Professor of Economics at George Mason University and New York Times Bestselling author. He has written The Myth of the Rational Voter, named “the best political book of the year” by the New York Times, Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids, The Case Against Education, Open Borders, Labor Econ Versus the World, How Evil Are Politicians?, and Don’t Be a Feminist. He is the editor and chief writer for Bet On It, the blog hosted by the Salem Center. Dr. Caplan has published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, TIME, Newsweek, Atlantic, American Economic Review, Economic Journal, Journal of Law and Economics, and Intelligence, blogged for EconLog from 2005-2022, and appeared on ABC, BBC, Fox News, MSNBC, and C-SPAN.
The book, about hiring, that Bryan refers to (cue time 55:00) is: The Blackwell Handbook of Principles of
Organizational Behaviour,
Edited by: Edwin A. Locke (2003 and later editions). As Bryan mentions, Chapter 1 is about hiring on intelligence, chapter 2 is about hiring on personality. Bryan misremembers the title of the book. "Handbook of Employee Hiring" -- the title that Bryan mentions -- is a different textbook in the field. (I post this info in case other listeners, like me, want to follow up on Bryan's bibliographical pointer.)

Denial of free will is self contradiction! If you deny free will, I ask "By what process did you come to that (or any) decision? The only logically consistent answer: "I don't know. My mind was compelled to believe it by the motion of atoms starting from the big bang".
I was not expecting you either to be Brazilian nor a volleyball fan. It is our second sport indeed. Sick.
