Love it. I taught this to myself when I was a kid. But elastic and wet hair no no no!! Wet hair is super fragile. You can start the braid without and elastic and thread it through the top to prevent fragile hair from breaking with the elastic. Love the pattern though.
Definitely use a balm or pomemade
I’m about to go take a shower and do this to my hair since I have camp in a few weeks cant wait to have a cute wrap by the pool ❤️
I've got frizzy brittle hair , it's long . Shouldn't I wet mine first or use a balm / pomade or a type of gel to hold down the frizzys ? Please help by answering my comment .
@@AprilW-ls6bd yes, a leave in conditioner would work well.
Thank you!!
Thanks so much for this ingrained memory. I just needed to see it dine again!
My god child and I are watching Now and Then tonight and wrapping our hair. Nostalgia 90s
I want to do this on my GF and I when we go camping this memorial, checking videos to get ideas.
couple of notes:
no top elastic!
start with 4-6 times the hair length for the floss, depending on method.
do your braid, then loop the floss through near the scalp splitting the length evenly, with half the strands on top, and half on bottom. this gets rid of the bumpy knot at the top
try to keep this orientation as you tie your wrap.
alternate which half of the color you use, as you change colors and patterns to maintain even length.
at the bottom you can put a charm on the hair and double it back up then wrap over the whole thing, this can also help keep an even thickness.
I haven't seen anyone do these since I was a kid! I used to get a hair wrap every summer when we went to the beach!!
Same here.
So, this is great, I will just warn that if the elastics touch sunscreen at all, they will pop and be gone. Especially, spray sunscreen! We learned this after moving to FL.
I personally do a slip knot at the top and do 2-3" below the bottom of the hair and knot it with a bead. That way, when they're ready to take it out (realistically 2-3 weeks so the hair underneath doesn't rot) you can cut the knot and it just unravels. Great wrap tutorial though!
Back in the day they would use little charms at the very end to cover up the extra hair. When I was a kid I had a wrap with a soccer ball charm.
Great tutorial. I do hair wraps at events in the UK. I usually leave the length of the braid at the bottom to the same length of the hair, usually about 3cm … 1 1/2 inches, so it blends into the bottom tassel as I call it and add beads for the final finish.
It’s a really good idea to dampen the hair though and plait it, as it’s so much easier to wrap than on dry loose hair. 🌸🌺🌸
My older sister did one of these for me like 5 years ago. She’s moved out now so I’m gonna try it by myself 😂
I always used to get these on vacation and give we can’t go on vacation at the moment it’s very nostalgic to have in my hair ;))
Ty for sharing! I would love to do this for a business :).
This is such an EASY amazing tutorial! Thank you so much for uploading it!!! Can't wait to add a few wraps in my hair!
I am getting ready to do my besties hair so I looked up some video's and I love yours alot. You make it to where u can understand hope you have a bunch more. Thanks for teaching me. Kudo 👏 💐
Taught myself to do hair wrap braids and never plated it.
Also when when doing the diamond Cross don't leave it out just zigzag up then do the same downwards so no gaps.
When you want to wrap two colours the just get those two colours put and wrap them.
I've never used an elastic band or plaited but may try the plait not the elastic band bit.
If this is your first time then it's brilliant.
This is stunning 💗💗💗💗
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this tutorial 🎉🎉🎉🎉 will do tomorrow
Very nifty 💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️ love it!! Definitely going to do this on my little girl😊
Let me know how it goes :)
I always put charms on the end
Thank you I been looking and asking about this and how to doit I had done in my hair long time go and I miss it so thank you again ❤
I really like your tutorial, step by step was at the correct pace for me. I did want to see what it looks like when the hair is down. I am thinking that where you place your section would determine how it falls thus giving slightly different looks. thank you for the video.
We did this 15-20 years ago in school breaks :)
How long does it last for? Also great tutorial made me understand it wayyyy better
Looks pretty :) I love your hair tutorials
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I tried to do a hair wrap without any tutorial and I made it very suck but after I watched this video I succeeded to one
Love it, so cute 💕 thanks to your daughter and you. I am not sure I can do it on my own hair 😂 but it will be worth to try.
This helped so much thank you!!🤍⚡️🦋
Too do the stripes, you can grab two colors at once and wrap. It will automatically stripe in one step :)
Amen! Spread the Gospel! Amen
Please make a video of you taking the wrap out it would really help
I love this video. How much yarn do you use for one braid ?
This is so pretty 😍I remember having these as a kid.
What thickness is the thread please? My girls would love this.
This was so helpful thank you
Thanks
twice as long was not nearly long enough and now i have a half done hair wrap thanks!!!
same!!
i'm sure she didn't mean to cause any unhappiness, but hey now you know for next time!
u can actually cut more string and tie it on! thats what i usually do- its obviously a bit annoying and fiddly but once u tie it and wrap a bit more u cant rlly tell
if you used really thin thread or string that's why. the same thing happened to me, i ended up using wayyyy more than i thought i would need. try using thicker string maybe :)
Yeah you need a little over 3 times the length of the hair
Does anyone know how to do one where they actually incorporate a braid in the wrap? I went to the beach and got the colors and my real hair braided together for the top section, and the end of my wrap is like in the video’s. I was just wanting to do one on my little cousin, but didn’t know if anyone knew how to make a braided section! Thanks, and sorry if this makes no sense lol.😂Nice video btw 👍
Thank you for this, this video is really helpful! 🙂
🎉
What if i wanna do just the pattern on the whole thing. And can I use like yarn
I would love to do this on my hair but I have really curly/kinky hair and it wont look good with my hair shrinkage😭
It originated from Africans so I’m sure it’d look just as fine on your hair
Idea: not sure if it’d work, might try it on my curly hair- braid the hair at the root and then wrap about halfway and then tie it off and then undo the braid to the half way- it might blend in better but still have the same affect(?)
Brush your hair out, braid it or twist it and then do the wrap. It looks gorgeous. On our hair we just need to stretch the hair and keep it in a braid/twist. Braids work best I think. People with straight hair dont have to worry about shrinkage so they can do it on loose hair. Don't ever think you're excluded* from something just because someone else does it differently. You got this girl! You can do anything.
I have curly hair and it worked just fine on my hair!
Dude this is from Africa.
about to try this on my girl i am wondering can you do this to the front.......
Op de markt in België waar ik was, deden ze dat heel anders. Geen vlecht, geen elastiekjes. Echt een kunstwerk. Eruithalen was dan ook niet te doen. Heb alles kapot moeten knippen(niet mijn haar, maar de wol)
how *do* you take it out?
hello, i was just wondering how to take it out? Could you do a tutorial? If not, it would be great if you could reply on how to do so, thanks:)
Riley Pillo Hi! I am going to take out my girls wraps this week, so I will for sure take a video of me doing it! :)
Ooooorale! Q chida, me gusto 👍🏼
Does anyone know how to attach a bead at the end of the wrap? I remember getting a wraps like this on vacation as a kid and they would put a cute decorative bead at the end
When you get to the bottom, add the beads over the wrap. Scoot all the beads up besides the last bead. Fold over left over over the bead and then use an elastic to secure above bottom bead. Then pull remaining beads back down over the elastic and part you folded over and your done!
i’ve had one not that long ago but tried to cover my wrap when i’m showering. Does she cover it or does she wash her hair normally? and does it ruin your string after a shower?
I've had mine for about a month now. While I dont cover it while showering, I am more gentle with it than I am my hair when using shampoo/conditioner. I also make sure to squeeze it dry in a towel rather than running it over it. I havent found any damage on my thread.
What thickness is the thread?
And
Do you only use 4 colours?
How do you take it out ?
How do u do it without the elastics I know u can tie it to the hair
does this work on 4c hair i wanna try this
Of course. 4c girls have been doing this for decades in the states.
What if you want all one color instead of a pattern?
You can have multiple strings of the same volor abd thats all. Easier than dealing with the longer string
Hi, i was wondering do you use 2 of each string or one?
It’s a nice looking wrap but you’ve made it more difficult a than it has to be. Don’t cut the string at the top. Double up your strings. No need to braid it: also wetting it disallows you slide the sections upwards to tighten them. It causes the cotton to stick to the hair. It looks good though!
Can I do that without the rubber band?
Yes, in fact many people prefer to not use the elastic band.
Okay so where did you get that spray bottle???? 😩
you can get them at the dollar store
How long will this last??
Mine lasted about 2-3 months.
What is that water bottle you have!?
How do u get it out ???😂
Is there any way to do this with hair thats about 2-3 inches long? Or do you need long hair to do it?
You can do it. Just shorter sections.
I cant do elastics rip. #curlyhair
How long does this take?
I recently did something similar. It took me about an hour and a half. I do this all the time to my friends, so it might take a little longer. It also takes longer doing it on yourself.
Where did you get this string come?
It’s embroidery thread.
Do you have to do the pattern
No the pattern is optional, as the pattern can be very hard/tricky for most people. I had the same question!😁😊
I tied it and cut my hair bc it got matted, so I have a short piece 😭
Why did you out it on the bottom layer of her hair 😂
B
Vc

Linda
only covered 3/4 of my hair.
cut it longer
Wait can you shower with it?
Yes you can
Cute...but time consuming
Can I shower with it?
mine hurts 😬
This isn’t how you start a wrap though
shouldn't have cut the ends it looked great
Yea, twice was def not enough man. 😑
That's way to much hair, and they look better on the top of your head to
I dont think so
this is a bad video bruh it’s showing how to do it on another person and it doesn’t tell you what you need before starting the process
Can I shower with it?
