A60 best gen. When compared to rivals of the era, one can place the (A)E86 in a similar position against commuter rivals. The E86 corolla was lightweight chassis with near perfect weight distribution, while still severely 'underpowered' with the 4A engine. The same approach of engineering was taken with the A60 of the time. Its the big brother of the corolla in my eyes; similar styling to the hatch trim (just longer with a rounded nose), 2 more cylinders, and again - near perfect weight distribution. The 5M's love to scream with a CAI, but were also able to take a decent amount of boost, the clip you presented at 1:30 shows a supercharged 5M. At the time, nobody looked at the corollas of the 80s, similarly with the Supra trims of the era. Many also argue the A90 isn't a true Toyota like mentioned, as it wasn't primarily engineered by Toyota (which would have drastically increased the sale price of an A90 if it were). What many people don't know is the A60's suspension (IRS) was developed in partnership with Lotus - the suspension specifically mentioned in the video 1:44. The Supra hasn't always been exclusively Toyota engineering. Nice concise video 👍
