    Some people will feel offended no matter what. That “word” is widely used even in other countries as a term for color and some as endearment ( check out Luna and Sol’ explanation ). Why do you need to change someone’s own culture to please someone else ‘s? The fact won’t change, Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental are provinces in the Philippines. Hello Negros is like saying Hello Manila.

    • @sgsumeracruz
      @sgsumeracruz 2 роки тому +11

      True. So, just because they dont like that word, we will not say it even though we are referring to our beautiful province in the Philippines called Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental? So, what are we supposed to.call that province? That Province without a Name or that Province with a Name that cannot be Uttered, is that what we are supposed to say when talking about this beautiful place? Do you think that is an insult also to the province of Negros Occidental and Oriental Occidental and its people when we don't even want to mention its name? Yes, its up to us if we see a cup half empty or half full. If we see a nine or a six. If our reaction to certain things will be positive or negative. Choose happiness. Choose love over hate.

    Negros is a place in the Philippines in Visayas region. When SB19 tweet that, they refer to the place not the people in south africa and other black country.

    I know the feeling of being bitter and jealous
    It is when someone is way way better than you
    It is when someone does things you wanted to do but you can't
    It is when they achieved their dreams while you can't
    but the thing that I don't understand is how people waste their time to post and bash other people
    there are just things that meant for them but not for you
    There are things that meant for you and not for everyone else
    It's just we need to accept things and be contented
    Fortunately
    I learned both of it

    Exactly! Most negative reactions are coming from outside of the community. Over sensitive speculators.

  • @cbtowers4841
    @cbtowers4841 Рік тому

    "If the community itself thinks it's offensive then it's offensive, we can't do anything about that." I wholeheartedly disagree. It's illogical, and if anything, social rules and norms should follow or at least attempt to follow rules of logic - logic being the only neutral element. This tweet is the perfect example - SB19 had a concert in the place called Negros. So, of course they would say "Hello, Negros!" Like an American artist would say "Hello, New York!" If you say your above-quoted comment is true, then that excuses all the keyboard warriors who don't even bother to educate themselves before hurling unfair accusations on public figures. Whatever else "cancel culture" is, it should not excuse ignorance. That's why searching for intent or context is superior to concern for "feelings" when doing investigations. Because you can't unfairly punish someone for something they didn't do. And for celebrities, cancelling or unfair public accusations are punishment as it affects their careers.

    The context behind the “Hello Negros!” is that SB19 were going to the Negros province area for a free concert and they were saying Hello to the inhabitants of the islands. So SB19 definitely did not do anything wrong. They did not need to apologize for anything. They should first look at the context before making any judgement lest they appear as ignorant people.

  • @klaris7853

    Maybe we should start calling Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental "The Provinces That Cannot Be Named" ala Voldemort vibes. But seriously, as someone who spent years living in Negros Oriental and still has lots of family there, I was disgusted when people accused SB19 of racism when this issue came out. Like, Koreans didn't stop using the word "nega" just because it sounds similar to the n-word. Filipinos shouldn't have to curtail a significant part of our culture just to appease other people. Racism is NEVER a good thing, but people should do some research and understand the context behind tweets and comments before picking up their pitchforks.

  • @rheiljohnsalvador1573

    I lived in Negros Island specifically in Negros Oriental. Negros is divided into two regions which is the Negros Oriental which speaks bisaya located in the southeast part of Negros Island and Negros Occidental which Ilonggo is widely spoken located in the Northwest part of Negros Island. It was called 'Negros' because during the spanish colonization in the Philippines, the spaniards came to the island and they found out that the people living was mostly colored people. For the Filipino people, there's nothing wrong about SB19's caption but it was offensive to those who did not know our geography. They captioned "negros" which they referred to whole negros in general. I think it's wrong to judge a certain caption without knowing the whole story and what SB19 did was right that they did not respond to it because they know that they did not show racism. I did not blame african people for it but they should also be careful of their words. It's indeed offensive for them but I think SB19 should be the one who feel more offensive because they we're blamed when they did not do something wrong.

    it is not a mistake. Negros is a part of the Philippines. They can use the word with no malicious intent. The Hello Negros tweet was only calling out the Negros community, not the entire world. Please. they do not need to adjust to others beliefs and ideology since that "Negros" thing is also a part of them.

    It is like saying Hello Manila or Hello Korea! They were doing a tour around the major cities all over the Philippines and their next destination was Negros. So are we suppose to change the name of a place that has been called Negros for centuries just because a community called it is offensive? The Spanish term for the colour black is Negros. It's just a colour.

  • @plaincloud595
    @plaincloud595 2 роки тому +1

    To add some more context.
    SB19 were not the one who denied the said “picture” , it was the staff. But that guy made it like SB19 were arrogant and blasted sb19 on twt and on his multiple ig stories , insulted their looks and even compared them to the virus. It backfired on him and he trended on twtr for the wrong reason (for being entitled and bitter) then he deleted everything and made a monitized “apology” video on his youtube channel- which basically trying to justify his action because he was his feeling was “hurt”
    That Negros thing does not even contain any ounce of racism, you can say the word here it is not racist, it is literally the name of the island and the inhabitants. It was for their free Concert in Negros, it is not like the n-word , and some natives from african and latin countries on twitter also defended the word and tried to educate those woke americans that the world does not revolve around them. The main twt also contains filipino words meaning it’s from a different country with different culture thats why it is very ilogical to associate it with the western culture. I mean i get that some westerner or westernized person may be shocked initially but it doesnt take a minute to check the context of the twt. And i think the twt was just twisted from a kpop fan who dislike SB19.
    Anyway SB19 is NOT perfect, but some of the issues thrown at them are just too ridiculous, unreasonable and petty.

    I get your point but you can not tell the people to stop calling the place that name just because it is offensive to a certain group of people. These people must understand how it is use in context first before acting offended. They are not the only people in the world. You can not tell the Spanish-speaking community how to use their language just because a certain group would feel offended. I think it is also the responsibility of the black community in the western world to understand the context in which these "offensive" terms were used. The world does not revolve around them. Plus the context of the tweet is not even close to being racist. There are no other part of the tweet that suggests so. They took it out of context and that's their problem.
    IMHO, people overreacted and were just overly sensitive about this. It is what it is.

    yes and the fact that even bts, the biggest boy band in the world and other kpop groups can't beat them. SB19 is more talented it's just because kpop are more famous and they are more in visuals. If kpop group goes live, they are either lip syncing or maybe singing but the recorded audio or voice are more louder than their voice (autotune) so I'm so proud of SB19. Tho I'm a kpop fan, I can say that SB19 is more talented, humble, kind and that's what I love about them. I don't know any other artist who is talented than them, who can sing like stell, who composes their own songs plus their songs are very deep and meaningful, choreograph the song and even the filming of the music video. THEY ARE KINGS!

    SB19 didn’t have to explain anything. Negros (neh-gros) is a province in the Philippines. The plural of Negro is Negroes, not Negros, unless they were speaking in Spanish, which they weren’t. Those who reacted negatively were not only misinformed, but were also ignorant of the correct spelling of the word.
    SB19 opted to remain silent because they were wise to choose their battles. True to form, the controversy died down when the Karens realized their mistake.

  • @rollercoaster8133
    @rollercoaster8133 2 роки тому

    With the "hello Negors" it's not something they should apologize for, it wasn't meant for the African people but for the people that live in Negros Occidental which is an island in the Philippines, these people who got offended should stop thinking that the world revolves around them, a lot of countries would have the same word but have a different meaning but it's not their fault that they use it, these people who disrespected SB19 by using that word should be the one to apologize to the people of Negros because they ruined the very honest and sincere greetings that SB19 tweeted for them. Those who keep pointing out "racism" on almost anything are what's making them the real racist! They're the reason why we are so divided! And yeah, SB19 not dwelling with it and keeping their mouth shut is the best thing that has happened.
    Oh btw, I love your reactions!

    They should know the context first before they judge other people specially that we do have different cultures and languages.
    Another example is the word “Puto”. Other people specially those who speak Latin/Spanish may find this awkward coz it means bad in their language but here in the Philippines, when you say “Puto”, it simply means a steamed rice cake, you know. 😆

    It is ok to have haters like you said. They will always be there so we just have to coexist. There are people who got a wrong impression of them at first and will not listen or try to understand them the second time around.
    Like example the Hello Negros, they were greeting the inhabitants then because they held a concert there. Boom people made it a big deal and got out of context.
    (Negros is the fourth-largest and third-most populous island in the Philippines)
    Some reason would be to some fans. Someone pushed a button to someone and so on.
    SB19 will only get bigger and so let's do our best and support them. We stand strong and act on their words. A.C.T.B.K.

    Hey Buddy, these same people will also get offended that we Filipino's, also have a very proud history. one of the Heroic group that We Filipino's are very proud of is called the KKK, now lets put it all out there so, there is no sort of Ignorant thinking, that we are Racist against Black people. Nothing could be farther than the truth, we suffered for hundreds of years under different types of hardships under Colonialism/Imperialism and everything bad that came along with it... To the whole wide World out there, that needs to be educated in Philippine history. Under the KKK banner Thousands suffered and died including the old, women and children, our ancestors fought to give us our Liberty and Freedom knowing fully what will happen, they also know Freedom is not FREE... Now, the Big Difference between the Filipino people and some other Countries, is that, "We have already moved on" Since many still think We are racist, Ask the Japanese people, or any Koreans who came to the Philippines.

    Hello Jeevan I am deeply thankful and proud of you because not all reactors react to another reaction videos because others would get jealous of the views, likes etc. But you're humble enough to check this out. It just means that you are the ideal reactor.

      What's worse is that some Filipinos who are K-Pop fans put down P-Pop artists and say mean things about them. It's a sad fact that they like to support foreign artists more than the local ones. And then at some point they would say they are "proud to be pinoy". That's bullshit.
