Mouse x
Reading I shall wear midnight now, so it's nice to hear you're thoughts on Esk!
Hi, Mouse. So this book is more a setup for the world of Discworld. A stock for all the upcomming details & characters. Like an index in the form of a novel.
Being not an eighth son to an eighth son is for a young girl a far enough reason to question instructions, traditions & some habits. People tend to forget questions, cause answers might be demanding. So yay for the youth!
And yay for you!

Yes, it's got elements of what the books will become, but it still isn't at the level the series will come to, I think. And it's true, having seven brothers is definitely reason enough to want to find your own way, lol!
I am taking the general advice and skipping ahead to Mort now. I struggled with The colour of Magic and I couldn't finish the Light Fantastic. I found I didn't want to sit and read it. I am excited to see how Mort is different and hopefully I will be able to finish that before your review. I will then look forward to where you think I should go from Mort? Should I try and follow your order or would it be best for me to start jumping around the series so I can get into it easier?
It will be interesting to see what you think of Mort! And I'd maybe suggest a bit more jumpimg around afterwards, I certainly did for quite a while when I started reading the whole series properly, but see how you feel after Mort. :)
@@quietasmouse I wonder who the villain wizard is because tryment was the evil wizard in the first two storys?
My main observation is how different Granny is in this book.
absolutely loving your reviews - I didn't think I found Esk annoying, but now you said it I totally do!
Thank you!!
Is a sequel to the color of Magic books and I wonder who the villain wizard is?
(1) Not directly, only in the general sense of adding more to the Discworld universe. (2) Read it and find out.
i havent readden this book yet it does always happen when i reread other books
Equal Rites is okay. Not great, not terrible, just okay. At the same time, I appreciate how, immediately after switching the POV from Rincewind to another character, Pratchett showed how the same world looks radically different to them. It took Ursula K. le Guin 4 books and 22 years to do what Terry Pratchett did in only 3 books and 4 years, so props to him for that.
ha, first! I re read half of it, becuase I forgot I said I was going to, and started Lord of the rings instead. sorry :( Yeah I'm just not that into it. knowing how awsome Granny weatherwax becomes. She comes across a little meh, in retrospect, there's no way the Granny I know would be foiled by a wizard never mind just a staff. The rest of my dislike is more personal I'm tired of the titular hero's trope, I much prefer the protagonists to be seasoned and capable, not lest because the character itself has more to draw on, to be interesting. Esque, isn't that at all and I found myself loosing interest about half way through, and getting a head start on Mort.(Mort himself is kind of annoying too, but death is awesome and it's a far funnier book.)
Well, Lord of the Rings is great so that seems reasonable, lol. It's interesting what you're saying about Esk and Mort, I'll be interested when I've finished Mort again to compare the two books and see their similarities and differences. Enjoy Mort!
