The Downings sang at my church. I had such a crush on Greg. I was 17. After church before the mid-afternoon gospel singing service, I drove Sue & Greg to my house to meet my parents. What a fun day. Still have a Downings album. Still love this kind of music.
What ever happened to Greg Gordon? -- one of the best I've heard throughout the many years of enjoying Southern gospel music! Greg, you "did good" -- hope you're still singing!
I agree with ya brother, love to hear this group sing, and Greg Gordon was one of the best. He sang with the Imperials for a little while, and last I heard was singing with a family group. He a really good dude!
The Imperials "Jesus made my Higher" album version had him as vocalist. That's how i found this. I looked him up and he was only with them a very short while. So good! Try that song!
A bit of trivia here: Greg Gordon’s mother, Anna, and his dad, Howard, were members of the world famous Chuck Wagon Gang along with his aunt Rose and uncle Jim. Greg and I both were members of Tanya Tucker’s band in the mid 70’s. Greg was an amazing singer and song writer. We traveled many a mile together.
Watching this makes me wish I were passing through the Lawn & Garden section of Sears on my way to Piccadilly Cafeteria. Sporting my brown three piece polyester suit.
@dwalley37 I believe he started singing with a country group "The Goldens" -- there are some youtube shots of them -- Greg plays the guitar & sings harmony.
They listened to Nancy Harmon’s album before it was released and they stole this song along with some others and released them before Nancy could. The arrangements and everything was swiped from her group. It’s all on the albums Calvary released.
It's a shame Greg Gordon left Southern Gospel and went to country. I seen one of the youtube postings of his appearance with The Goldens. To me he has gone to the dogs. But that's my opinion.

One of the most underrated groups in history…
Hello, I'm talking from Brazil and hearing this precious thing in 2019, these gospel songs never grow old. God bless the American people.
I love to hear Greg Gordon sing. Wish he was still singing.

Terrific! Sue Chenault was a real find! What a voice!
Greg has such a smooth voice! I could listen to him sing for hours!
The early days of Mrs Sue Doge’s career as a Southern Gospel singer and she still going strong after 50 years
Love the music! Paul Downing had a dynamic group in the 70s. I have to chuckle at the clothing fashion of the late 60s and early 70s though :-)
This is message is fantastic Glory to God!
Praise the Lord!!
LOVED IT !!!
i also love the downings but i have this series on dvds and they are really good

@kielploen I too hope Greg Gordon is still singing. He's hard to beat.

We're all almost there just after being born. Jesus made the only way to God
And Sue Dodge, one of the best !
@dwalley37 I believe he started singing with a country group "The Goldens" -- there are some youtube shots of them -- Greg plays the guitar & sings harmony.
i love how it gets faster as they go
They were a great group, but the Rambos' version of Gettin' Ready Today was much better.
Sue Dodge's mouth is ridiculously large! What a voice!
Wonder if that's the same P Bass he used almost his whole career?

Mondrian wants his set back.
After seeing Sue Dodge on the G-Videos so many years , its hard to believe she was ever that thin!!!!!!!!!1 WHAT HAPPEN to her?
The same thing that happens to most everyone - she got married, had kids, and grew older. You know? LIFE happened!

They were Pentecostal
So that's why Black Sabbath seemed evil.
Potato
Cult + Mondrian = perfectly acceptable middle class weirdness
