The mother makes me want to respect her, she’s so reasonable and sincere. She’s not asking much and she’s introducing the kids to things that peak their interests but in a healthy way. And she’s a single mom who’s taken over since the passing of her husband! Like nah, she needs to be treasured. I hope she knows she’s killing it as a parent 🤷🏻♀️
These parents arent even strict, they just are good parents. They know how to raise well mannered, responsible children.
Thats what punjabi parents seem on camera but off camera bruh its a whole new level.
@@Shayla.r show me my but it's for responsibility because when you're an adult in your in your own house you can have to do all of that by yourself and you're not going to have any help
@@loveelove8866 I guess your right. Im just not being grateful enough. Im in a pretty good mood atm and I just realized, I have a house, a bed, a full family and a phone and I still dont thank people enough.
This mom needs an award I swear.
She could have been the inspiration behind "How To Be A Bawse". by Lily Singh. North American Girls would have mocked Nishka for having to come home early. She and The Gay Parents from New Jersey were also fantastic.
Come to India.. most of the mom r like this. We can't argue with our elders
I bet comming before dark it's some question of safety, India is not the most safe country I'm afraid
7:39 the grandma is like " what kind of creature just entered my house "
Melanie is such a chill mom! Thy're lucky they had her...
She's a monster mum. I grew up in India, in Bangalore, and I don't know anyone whose parents are so uptight.
Omg Indians and Pakistanis are the most patient people I have ever seen! You can literally yell at their face and they will not lose it. They are also really kind.
Hannah Baker I agree But you don't seem indian cos yr name and yr actualy very very white
Descendant of Sassy the sasquatch Her nam3 and profile are from a Netflix show.....
Throughout the video, the guy wearing the turban looks like he's having the time of his life. There's no way someone can hate him. You can't help but smile when he smiles.
Jasper looks like he gives good hugs. I want a Jasper-hug
Same here, I was suprised nobody said that. The way he hugged his mom showed everything he needed to see.
The Beatles were in Bangalore and I think it did help them relax for the first time since 1964. They were on such a Rollercoaster Ride Musically that being able to be "Regular People". Jasper probably doesn't realize that The Sitar has been used in all types of Musical Genres from Rock to even R & B. Norwegian Wood By The Beatles, Paint It Black By The Rolling Stones, You Are Everything By The Stylistics, and Oh Girl By The Chi-Lites. Also for a while Bollywood Songs were Sampled by Rap Artists which they loved.
The Indian family is so beautiful and nice, yet they're strict enough to make sure the kids are good. The blonde girl (I forgot her name) is also very pretty and sweet and just needs self confidence. The boy also just needs to guidance to get on the right path and create an ambition for him to work toward.
: "I really love this lady and, would have no problem in obeying someone else's rules in another person's house..."
I LIKE THIS LADY TOO AND WHEN I VE GOT A MEMORIES THEN I DONE PEOPLE LIKE A SPANISH HARLEM SIT AND DANCE
“I like to wear nice clothes”
*Wears ripped tights and a tank top with bra straps showing*
"living with the devil" and she has a 2011 Justin Bieber poster in her room
TheMovhiMachine: Then she's a time traveller, when she has a poster from 2011 :O
That mom is absolutely amazing. Even at the smoking ‘fight’ she maintained her composure and that did more for Jasper than anything. He actually learned from that and felt badly for his actions.
I felt so happy when Jasper went to see the sitar player and kind of went full on George Harrison
I think Melanie is an absolutely beautiful person. She's strong and positive.
Okay, I now hear a difference in the New Zealand and Australian accent!
The girl's mother sounds Canadian or American; the Australian and New Zealand accents are TOTALLY different!
Patrick Kelley I am pretty sure that Arden's mom is American or Canadian, that accent is similar. Well I have actually I've never met a New Zealander so yeah I never heard the accent before.
Matthew Torok yeah her Mum is definitely American or Canadian, she signed the letter "Mom"
catsandflowercrowns 1 Yeah, they spell it 'mum' in U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Thank goodness! I get mistaken for having an Australian accent all the time, it gets frustrating lol
Yeaaaah no, I'm from bangalore and you are not considered 'cheap' because you wear shorts or dress the way you want to. It would be disappointing if this person's opinion of the country and its culture is taken without a pinch of salt.
Sahithya Narasaraj surely there's more to the way a person chooses to dress than just temperature control
True. Soo many girls wear shorts in india. Those people were probably staring just cause she’s white
I think it would be fun to dress like a modern Indian girl for a few days. Though, it's not entirely her fault those men are just STARING like that, it's like if you went back 100 years in the west and walked around like that - they'd all stare because no one looks that way. I don't really think her outfit was that bad for a western summer or something, but I guess not in India.
Rosalina 90 Wonderful comment. This kind of discussion is what UA-cam should be about. Thank you.
also i reason that the men were mainly staring at the camera crew n the fact that she was a foreigner. Wearing shorts in public is a pretty common practice nowadays
Oh ffs. Girls in Bangalore dress just how they like. People in this country stare for all sorts of reasons. It's a modern city with people from all over the country and world living here and everyone is used to all sorts of fashion here. This family is just unreasonably upright and worried. Believe me I've lived in Bangalore all my life and my parents are nothing like this.
One of the nicest episodes ever!
I have to say this was the best episode i have watched. I hope so much that the kids remain the same as when they left India. This makes me want to visit and just have this experience of peace and harmony. Best wishes to the kids that went through this and I hope they really do well in life.
I just had to pause to say that I have straight up CHILLS at the sitar player holy shit
Yes awesome. The two together was very cool and absolutely unique to hear them one after another.
As a metalhead, the guitar and citar duet is amazing. I love it when kids have open minds to music from other nations. Don't get me wrong. You can't like every genre. I don't like country or pop but I do give it a try now and then.
God Jesper and his brother are both so godamn hot, i wish i could have some of their cute genes.
“I started smoking at 11” wtf
7_plays _ lol that happens to lots of New Zealanders have that problem even me =/
omg. my dad made me smoke a cigg at 8 years old and smoke this and said after u do that u will never smoke again it made me so sick...at age 28 i started smoking and havent quit yet ugghhhh ..still trying to quit tho
7_plays _
I was 9. My mom was 9. My father was 12. And my brother was almost 10.
It happens sweetie.
My parents have always made me feel like I was a bad teenager. I can’t believe these kids 😂
MY ISSUE WITH ALMOST EVERY ONE OF THESE EPISODES IS HOW PARENTS DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF A NICOTINE ADDICTION AND HOW WITHDRAWALS WORK!
in india such addiction are not common....you cant buy that stuff if you are not 18. otherwise weed grow in our backyard and munipality removes it one in a month.
This women is a sweetheart. With a great sense of humour and so modest and humble. Bless her soul.
wow, this is the very first episode. thanks!
I actually love this mother if you are nice she will be nice very level headed....sorry she lost her husband thats very sad very strong lady
8:58 this guy and a picture on the wall look exactly the same 😂😂😂
Those men staring at her for wearing those clothes are disgusting makes my skin crawl knowing some of them might be living around us not in India and god knows what there thinking about every girl that passes them
xMissMilkyWayx oh you don't want to know!! If woman did know I think they would dress differently. Men's brains are wired differently and the chemistry actually changes when they see certain images ...so the way people dress does impact others in ways we don't know.
@@d_i_a_v_l_o3827 It's true. Both men and women are blamed even if the women had no choice in the matter.
Human rights should not subject to cultural differences. A woman's right to respect and safety is not dependent upon her clothing, the shame falls upon the men in this scenario, not the girl. This whole line of reasoning is abhorrent.
Kristan m ikr .. Even tho I'm from India I wear whatever tf I want in india as well as in my homeland ( dubai )
See how far that gets you when you dress like a slag in a foreign country
the men were most likely staring at the camera crew n the fact that she is foreign. Most of them anyway. If u ever come to india, you may be surprised to see the number of women wearing shorts n short dresses
just the way he hugged his mum shows how much he has matured in those five days x
I love the way Jasper hugs. Fully encompassing.
Itz funny how she said "it's so loud" & yet still she was talking to the top of her lungs
My question is, do these families have the proper training needed to deal with nicotine withdrawals? when you are addcited to nicotine, you can't just quit cold turkey and not expect withdrawals.
Aaron Hoagland thank you I feel like nobody else has noticed that. You can't just cut off an addiction cold turkey and not expect to get withdrawal symptoms and/or to have a relapse.
This family probably has no prior experience with any type of addiction.
Yes, nicotine is addictive, but it's withdrawals aren't that serious. After ten years of smoking, I quit cold turkey, was it hard? Heck yes, however besides the craving and being cranky I and many others had no symptoms. Nicotine addiction is nothing like alcohol, or hard drug withdrawals, you don't get physically ill off of nicotine withdrawal.
TXNole10 I'm with you on that one... Bit of a joke these people making a big thing out of it...
melanie is actually hella sweet and understanding
I'm not a troubled teen but I would be so excited if someone sent me to live with a well-off family in India for a week. Maybe I could fake it 🤷♂️
Omg I cry all the time when they read letters!!! 🤧🤧😭😭
The woman in this fam in India are so pretty. They're reserved but still modern. & GREAT parenting, don't compromise. She's the parent.
So well done: 'No discussion. No smoking and you stay. You want to smoke, let us pack your bag and you fly home immediately' . Great. No compromises. Discipline. Woman, so well done.
who else REALLY enjoyed that jam session?!? totally amazing.
I just need Jasper Hugs* Awwww😍 X
They are both so sweet deep down.
The music part was just awesome💜 And Ms. Nalini is a good mother. It was lovely.....😘
I loved this episode.. really wonderful family that they stayed with, wonderful culture.. A culture of compassion and music of the soul..
HAHAHAHA!! when they were tryin to get the girl to dance...one of the other girls tried to duck behind the curtains away from the camera rofl
Michael B I went back to watch lmfao she literally ducked so hard
Well I'm an Indian and my mother never lays out rules on what I can wear n cannot. And that's not how it is! I wear shorts and skirts and many other "un-praiseworthy" clothes. Plus she's a social worker so she has different and untrustworthy approach. 5pm curfew is really way too much to abide by.
In the beginning I knew they both were going to be a piece of cake and the episode was going to be far more chill than the others.
One can really see the change and development that has taken place in these two. Brought tears to my eyes.
8:21 i tought she was flexing on him before she said "incase you think having a smoke.. ahaaaa!" i love her XD
18:53:That was her losing her temper?! wow that's super impressive. I would never have been that calm!
I got goosebumps when jasper was playing together with the sitar player that was just so beautiful ❤️
The music was so calming when they went to the musician guy
I hate when they keep laughing at each other like its cute when they are talking to them about the rules
Lol I bet the men are staring cos she white hehe
yea when i go to places like that i get stared at all the time cause i’m like a basic white girl with blonde hair and blue eyes
Best episode Ive seen so far
This is great! I hadn't even known New Zealand had their own version of the show. If there's any way you can post the rest of them, I'd be eternally grateful!
It's really obvious Arden needs someone who can be in authority that she can respect. She never respected her mother because her mother gave her what she wanted - that never works in creating respect.
Agreed. My parents would beat my ass if i act like this. They "spoiled" me but not this bad
These mixed up rebellious teens all have one thing in common - an absent father or a very weak father. Sad 😔
I am from Bangalore and what the hell, I grew up wearing whatever I like, no one cares what you wear in Bangalore, it's a super chill city. I wear what I like and stay out as late as I like, and have been doing since age 16.
It rages me that everyone paints south India as extremely conservative and traditional. It's one if the most modern cities in the country. NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU WEAR.
i have watched two of these now and the parents just seem super sweet and the kids seem like real good kids
Kids get taken away when parents get physical with them. If my kid tried pushing me around and tried to hurt me she would no longer live here.
Wow ... Nalani are a great lady... you have been a great influence in the lifes of these youngsters ...Also I appreciate very much... that the rules you have had to do with your household and your enviroment ....so true.
this is a beautiful episode
I love the way she says "oops"
its just a small sacrifice you wanted to come and learn so so being stubborn and just learn
i love watching these because it makes me feel like an adult compared to those brats and i just turned 17 this summer lol
The fusion was really great
I want to go to India such a diverse interesting place
Jonah Gnatiko uhhh yea it is. If India's not diverse then could you care to explain what is??😂😂😂😂 maybe you don't know what diverse means🤔🤔
Its very odd to see that The “Mother” says that women wearing shorts are of questionable repute!! How bad it sounds.
Melanie is amazing. She said she “really lost her temper,” but she never raised her voice or even looked angry. What a calm, patient woman.
Mom's like "She's pushing my buttons. . ." lol
Can I ask you a question - jasper. The mother No •_• . ha Woooooooo love her 😂 she's great
15:09 He's not legally permitted at the time to smoke. Let alone in her own home.
This is one of the best episodes.
I love this mother! She's so awesome :) I see why they brought her back more times!
I'm not Hindu, but I truly appreciate all Faith's that are focused on good (not like stupid Scientology). Blessings to all 💜
such hypocrisy....Melanie's like "no you can't do that...you can't wear that.... " blah blah blah and then she makes Arden dance to sheila ki jawani lol
name of the mother is Nalini which is sankrit word which means lotus ..i know it sounds like melanie but most of the indians have sankrit, tamil or hindi name.
sick guitar playin
This show makes me love my family more
Questionable character?? No!! India is not like that 🤦♀️ Places like bangalore, everyone wears shorts and short dresses and they go about their lives, it’s not some regressive place where no one is allowed to show skin or whatever
I believe this episode was filmed 10 years ago so maybe the mindset of the elders were different
Around 2:15 she says all teenagers have attitude problems ir something like that . I am a teenager and I am nothing like that .
Love this episode. Way life should be,
I feel that the kids are much much more calm and relaxed after being in India! I love it
I swear this family is on the UK version
This the same family. I mean they partially straightened out 4 messed up kids.
Watch This Bullshit. They are rich and Nalini is an independent business woman. She was so good in the UK episode that they asked her to do the NZ episode
@@fabian-isf5310 there not money hungry that lady is independent and got her own business
@@fabian-isf5310 I lived in Banglore and owning a house like one Nalani had, is a very big deal. I'm pretty sure that she must be financially very well to do.
smoking is no joke to quit - most adults struggle and cant quit after years and go through withdrawal and awful side effects - nicotine is more addictive than most class A drugs. these kids need therapy and rehab to make changes stick... not helicopter parents as great as she is...
Delicia707 I smile cigs an I’m not addicted Becuase the number one thing is never let it control you🤨 set bounderies
Delicia707 smoke but I started when I was 11 and I’m 16 now but I don’t do it all the time
it's whack, despite knowing quitting smoking is mind over matter and it simply just being an annoyance, rather than how it is when withdrawals set in with other substances, I still only manage to kick smokin meth, rather than cigs. Yeesh. Don't smoke.
It kind of reminds me of Don Draper in The Last Episode of Mad Men. He meditated and he was so happy, calm, and serene.
What a lovely lady and family they are
This mom is seriously very very strong, chill, nice polite all at the same time. She doesn't want to cause conflict and she cares and awards her kids when she takes something major from them she tends to give it back in another way. She awesome :).
Have u got the next episode from new Zealand and where did u get this one
I love this!!!!!
The mother isn't even that bad. She just wants to be respected and her rules to be followed. She doesn't seem to treat her kid like a slave like I've seen a lot of parents do on this show, or control every single thing they do. I think she has the best parenting technique out of all of them.
My house is like this i know I'm lucky 😗
