She's really pretty. Her acting is really good but that doesnt matter if she doesnt enjoy doing it. HE needs to realize that. Like they say, being older doesnt always mean being wiser. He should know that as an adult. If shes gonna be acting for the rest of her life, she should at least be enjoying herself while doing it.

I absolutely HATE when parents or older relatives say "Oh she / he doesn't know cause they're so young" they know! (Of course some things are obviously for the parent's control but y'know. Using sense here) During that moment, were they kids or not, they know. You can't force feed your own ideas and likings to another person. If they like it they do, but it's totally possible they don't like it. That's it. A human's life contains enough years to be an adult, work and stress, let a child be a child for the very few years they have! It affects their future too. In a much bigger way than many think.
thats true, but there are some cases where it actually can be good for parents to encourage..ok not force, but encourage. for example when i was young i wanted to learn ballet, but when i went to ballet lesson it hurt to practice doing splits and stuff and i was like i dont want to do it anymore and my mom was like ok. but now i regret it, i wish she had pushed me to just stick with it because by now i would have been really flexible and stuff. things like that are better to learn young, its harder to learn when youre older

You will be become a parent, not unless you’d become an animal parent you can’t force or encourage your child for what is best for them. There are parent out here who may not be forcing their kids but look at what happen to them. Some are on different paths or some maybe in good directions. Specially when your in poor situation they might force their children for what is the greatest paycheck on their future that they do not want to suffer the same way they had experienced ( but we don’t know that) . These family looks like a celebrity looking they have looks! She is good in acting it’s a waste if she don’t pursue it. I get where her Dad coming from.

I can understand where the dad is coming from. He thinks that by not letting her quit is for her own benefit for the future. He mentioned that she's shy so acting classes would actually help with her self-esteem. It's just that by forcing her to do this against her wishes will most likely have the opposite effect and would rather cause her to despise acting even more. It's better to just let her do the things that she likes now while she is still young. Maybe she will decide that she wants to take up acting again in the future, and it wouldn't be too late ;;
She definitely has talent, but acting requires passion. And if her heart isn't with it, it's useless to force it.
Watching halfway through the video and I have this thought.
Instead of forcing her act like it will her job and future job, why not make her act a little to make money for her education when she's older?
The father should has started giving her exposure to acting ever since she could talk so at least maybe she will have at least some interest in acting and will enjoy doing it when she's little. Not forcing but like, "do you want to try acting?"
She said in the video that, she wanted to be a teacher. If her father really want to see her keep acting, he could make a deal to keep her acting by taking all the money she got from acting and put it into her future education to achieve her real dream.
If she really wanted to be a teacher, she will work hard with a mindset "I am acting so i could reach my dream when I'm older with all the money from my acting when I was younger."
And she should stop by high school though or make it less so she could focus in her studies.

I totally understand her. Until I was 10 years old, my mother kept forcing me into dance classes even though I didn't have aptitude nor interest for dancing. I wanted to sing and draw. I draw really well by myself, have won many competitions too, and can sing well enough. But if my mother had tried to take my interests and talents into account than her own, I'd be much happier now.
Parents shouldn't force their children to do things. Period.

I agree with the dad tbh. I was 8 when I was forced into guitar lessons. I hated it soooo much. I would pretend to be ill just to skip it. I told my parents that I hate guitar and two years after starting, that I wanted to quit. They told me, "Think about it, if you want to quit still, come tell me and we'll quit." I have been doing guitar lessons for 7 years now thanks to that realisation moment. Guitar is my life now. If my parents hadn't forced me or if they would have let me quit, I have no idea what I would be doing now. The dad is right to give her the opportunity but he should let her think about what she really wants to do and have acting as a hobby.

Faye Diamante I think this is more of a case to case thing, just because your situation turned out the way it did doesn't mean her dad is necessarily in the right. Although it's great that you were able to find a passion for guitar now, it might not be the same for this girl. She's been doing acting for 5 years now, even getting some small parts in dramas and placing first out of 300-400 student, but she still doesn't enjoy it. While it's arguable that she doesn't know what's good for her, her parents can't know for sure either. She already said she wanted to become a teacher, and her parents should be supporting her for that rather than forcing a career she doesn't want onto her. It's more important that she ends up with a job she actually enjoys rather than a job she dislikes but is talented in.

If you check the rest of the episode, the cast talks about this, and they're completely right. What he's doing is different than piano, guitar lessons or sports. You can't do acting as a hobby, but you can do guitar and other stuff as a hobby. He's not forcing her to cultivate a talent as a hobby, he's forcing her to do what he wants for life. I know you mentioned that he's going overboard, but you can't even compare guitar lessons to this. My parents forced piano lessons to me as well and I'm grateful but this is entirely different in many ways.

Imagine her all these years from now having a deep seeded dislike for her father. Education is a big deal over there. From my knowledge, when they get older, they don't have the time to go out everywhere with their friends. Most going to cram school or extra classes, and staying home to study. She's gonna look back and see how she wasn't able to have any time to simply enjoy herself and be a child.
In addition to being forced to do something she doesn't want to do, he doesn't even complent her. Just pointing out her flaws. Constructive critisicm is good, but everyone wants to feel validated. Especially a child of her age. I feel like the way he points out her flaws, he does it in a condescending manner, in which it doesn't strive her to improve, but instead drives her into sadness. She seems to be not entirely depressed right now, but i can see this ending up in a terrible result to her self-esteem. Another thing is, that it doesn't seem like her mother is doing much to help the situation. You see your child suffering in this way(and i think she's smart enough to know the negative impacts this can have on her child in the future) yet it you're not stopping this. She needs to put her foot down(Yes even if she argues with her husband at one point as seen in the show, it doesn't mean that she didn't know her child was like when she said "she liked acting". I think her mother very well knows she doesn't. I think she should have sat down with her and had a talk about it, in which the girl would have probably told her mother the truth. Also, maybe i missed it where she says she did tell her mother, if i did, my bad. Doesn't change the fact that the mother could have done more though). Regarldess of if "she's good at it", if she doesn't like it due to always being forced to do it, she will not be an actress. At the end of the day in years to come, it's her who has to move her own body and decide to go into the audtions and become and actress. Se very well might not want to because of being forced for all these years. In additon to that, what if the only skill she DOES have ends up being acting, and she becomes an actress only out of necessity? Then what? Overworking herself for something she doesn't even like? Chronic depression? This "father" of her really pisses me off. So does the mother. You're her parent, but you're not omnipotent. I won't be telling anyone "how" to raise their kids, but that right there is some annoying shit. Just because u wanted to be an actor, doesn't mean u have the right to push it on to her. Just because u believe it's what she must do, doesn't mean it's right. And the whole arguement he has about how "she's good at it", doesn't mean she's not good at other things. She might have a natural talent for something else, but is unable to discover it or expand on that because she is not given the oppurtunity to.
Sorry for this long paragraph, but i felt as though i needed to say this. I hope things get better for her in the future.
As we grow up, our dreams and priorities change. Parents are there not to tell us what to do and how to get there, but they should just be the ones who will support us and let us walk in the dark while they're just behind us. That way, we won't feel scared and alone.

Believe me, it's not always great to have that. You may feel like "Oh they care about the kid", but being forced into smth you dont like, can even affect your mental health. They have the excuse that they love you, but they keep forcing you to do it. That is NOT pretty. There are many kids wanting to get away from such a life.

Yeah tbh I too had joined a 2-3 classes for my parents and loved except one class. But sometimes even after doing it for long time and not liking it, then u must stop

It reminds me so much of 'Page Turner' - a story about a girl that was so talent at playing piano, but was so pressured by her mother to do so, that she lost the pleasure of play and didn't even liked when she won a first place; in reality, the girl loved piano, but her mother was killing that, seeing her just as a piano player and obligating her to be the best and work just for it - in the end, when she discovered, by herself, without any pressure, what was play and how it could be good, she smiled for the first time.
Maybe the girl doesn't like acting at all, but probably her father is killing it at her. He isn't seeing her as his precious daughter, he is seeing her just as the mother of 'Page Turner' did - she is good, so she HAS to do it. She is suffocated, and, at this rate, even if she becomes an actress, she will be depressed and, at some point of her life, she will look back and think: "What am I living for? I never did what I wanted. Have I lived my life to others? Who am I?"
I think her father must watch 'Page Turner' and reflect about what kind of life he really wants to her daughter.
I actually sympathize with that girl. My father forced me to be a jurist, since he was one himself,but I was composing and writing songs all the time. Since neither i nor he liked each other's options, i chose to be a translator. While i was studing at university, father could understand my love for music and acknowledge my talent, he agreed with me to be a musician. I graduated from university, but then with my father's support i could recognized by people as a songwriter. I can sympathize with that father too, cuz he says she has great talent for acting. I think when that girl became adult she would regret if she quits now

Kids don’t like to be forced. I don’t think she hates it, she just hate being forced. If they take it slowly, she’ll get back to it. I hated piano when I was little even though I was good at it. After I quit I wanted to play again. I didn’t hate piano, I just hated being forced to go to classes every Saturday and being told to practice. I think he should just relax and let it roll out of her own.

That dad is the kind of person who won't give up. It's not a good thing since he keeps being arrogant, but never dares to do it himself. He failed all his auditions, and yet he wants to teach his daughter. Her daughter doesn't want to do it, and yet he says that she is being delusional. His audition was 20 years ago. I think that you forget a lot of things during that long period of time, right? A teacher who can't act is nonsense. You need experience to be able to teach anothers through emotion and experience. He doesn't have any other valid argument besides 'She is good at it', that's why he keep saying it. Also, he doesn't want to lose his face, but somehow manages to find arguments for his daughter to act in front of strangers. Of course it's embarrassing. You know those avatar games the celeb does? Well they are totally embarrassed. She will be shyer and shyer if you continue to push her through this. You need the right, powerful words to make him change his mind. Also, the girl must be strong and stand for herself. That's how you can escape those situations. Time can also contribute, but if the dad is persistent, it won't be much use to let time settle.
A. K. Well, groups such as Got7, or Infinite or Monsta X have done them. It's like one person have an earbud and listen to other's command. The one having an earbud is incorporating a normal worker. They work at places like cafes, nail salons, etc. But cafes are the most popular one. There is like half of the group being an avatar (the ones having the earbuds) and there are others who are in a room with a walkie-talkie. The ones in the room give ridiculous missions to the avatars. I remember one of Got7 being "Say to the worker 'You're handsome.'" The avatar said it and then "Say 'But I'm more handsome than you!'". He had no choice but to say it even if they made people flustered. I also remember that Monsta X requested a lot that avatars dance or sing their song, and also asking if the customers know their group. I don't think I was clear enough, so you should watch some. It's pretty funny and cringe-worthy. Hope this helped!

Christine Jones why bring her mum into this though? the parents have probably argued about it. we can't judge how much the mum loves her child, there's no info about their relationship and it's immeasurable. also sometimes this stuff is tough love and parents just not understanding, not that the dad doesn't love the daughter. he probably does, probably wants the best for her because she's so good but he's too dense and not understanding to realize that she wants to do something else and may have skill in that area as well and can come back to acting at a later point in her life which makes more sense.

Isn't Korean education system a bit tough, her dad should let her study like all the other children of her age, she might then realise which one would suit her better, dreams tho keep changing throughout our life, she now wants to become a teacher but maybe after a few years she might aspire for something else.
I understand the dad's POV, its better to choose a career in which we have skill as choosing a different career is like taking a chance in life, we might fall back among the skilled persons and end up with nothing at all.
