She certainly has famous parents, both great actors - Rod Steiger and Clare Bloom!

I Have always loved and admired these two lieder of Varese. The instrumentaton is rendered particularly clearly by the conducting of Boulez.

Has anyone else realized the conceptual continuity (quote) from Ameriques at 5:21 ?

Lovely performance of this great 20th-century classic! Do I guess correctly that the group is the Ensemble InterContemporain? -- Whatever else you can say about Pierre Boulez, you can count on his performances being technically perfect and perfectly in tune, and that's no small thing in this music. A player in one of the London orchestras was heard to say years ago, "I think it's time for another Boulez servicing!" ("Servicing" being British English for an automobile tune-up.)

What I find to further the irony is that one of the videos in laurion's favourites list is "Interview with Arnold Schoenberg".
    Tut tut tut

Yes. Wagner on LSD was well-said. The soprano is quite good, however.

hm...

Is this music hated because we belong to the next generation? Bach's sons generation abhored of stuffy old Bach's music... Some of this sounds old-fashioned, edgy like old, rusty metal structures. But what came after these artists, Varese, Xenakis, Stockhausen, is minimalism...Glass, Reich... pretty bland stuff. I think I stick to these guys.
