@ Casper is great! I am a diehard Alcaraz fan and am sad he’s sick. But if there is anyone he could lose to I am happy it’s Casper. He’s a great player. And just a nice guy. You can tell he’s very well liked on tour.
this is one of the only recaps I've seen that actually gives Ruud credit instead of just talking about Alcaraz feeling sick. It's definitely a large factor, but it's nice to see some credit for the Norwegian.
I swear Ruud has the talent and racket skill to be such a force on any surface, but he plays passive or doesn’t bring his best often. When he cleans up a few things and presses more on offense, Ruud is hard to beat.
At least you give a fair analysis of the match ! Carlos didn't loss only because he was not feeling well... but also because Casper was making it impossible to Carlos to settle in the game ! Casper backhand was on clutch ! It's funny because Casper played Carlos like other player play himself... backhand to backhand. Carlos and Casper are actually having a similar type of play (Carlos is more complete) but both want to dictate with the forehand and the backhand wing is the "weakness"... I always enjoy watching those 2 playing each other ! It's always interesting on whose will be able to have the forehand, or making the less unforced errors, the most nice volleys, etc. And I did see Casper in the 2nd set trying to do some SABR in return of serve!!😅And I like it it works !
Glad you gave Ruud credit, We have seen many players competing when they are sick and its barely touched on yet we are hearing a great deal about Carlos not being well. Well done Casper.
ATP finals years ago Sampras was playing in the final, 5 sets in those days, he was throwing up on court and he continued to play and finally won the championships.Check it out.
I've come to expect this from Alcaraz. It's not an upset anymore. Alcaraz is just not an elite player post US Open. This is his normal level now unless he shows he can win Shanghai/Paris/ATP Finals. Maybe he'll have a Nadal like career in the post US Open stretch which is not bad but it means he needs to make the most of the time of season when he plays his best i.e from Buenos Aires, Rio, Sunshine double, clay swing, grass swing otherwise Jannik will surpass him as most of the Masters are on hard courts and ATP is making the courts faster. Sinner can be number 1 for a long time.
I would love to see Alcaraz go more quickly to the block and slice forehand returns a la Wimbledon final. He missed a number of big cuts on forehand returns to my eye, without diligently counting. Also hope he turns it around!
Carlos should just withdraw and rest up for Davis cup which starts early next week. Carlos will get another chance to compete in the ATP finals however Rafa only retires once and team Spain need him fully healthy to even compete.
