The Moqi i7s is currently the most powerful Android gaming handheld on the market and I've been testing it for the better part of three months to make this review. I love watching these older device reviews to see how far portable gaming handhelds have come in just 2 years.
I would be so happy if they simply got rid of the cellphone feature and added R2, R3, L2, L3, and physical Start / Select buttons.
With that price,just get yourself a switch

@Ramza Beoulve don't be too hasty, watch how the gamecube games and ps2 games that you want to play perform. Then check some video guides to get familiar with the process but don't follow them, instead follow the popular text based guide. also, you can keep playing online by copying the system to an SD card and making it offline only
Maybe consider making them yourself.
Portablizing consoles can be a really fun diy project. But it takes some significant work and money.

Dude just get something like a Razer Phone and pair it with a phone controller and that will give you way more performance for not much of a price.
I really like the removable battery. However, no clickable sticks, no start and select, only two shoulder buttons, a disappointing d-pad, and a high price tag make this a hard pass.

Yeah, especially with Geforce Now, full pc games need full controllers. With out thay L click, no sprinting : / And most pc games need all four shoulder buttons.

The psp had a replaceable battery. That’s how it got cracked haha. Maybe others were just avoiding similar issues

I'm sure there will be more handhelds like that in the near future and for a resonable price. I hope they'll integrate bluetooth and the possibilty for HDMI-Out over USB-C. But the biggest problem with emulating PS2 isn't even the hardware but the emulator. It's still not well programmed and I pray for some skilled people to work on this soon.

@jvalex18 I'm very well aware. I refer to Sony's vision/advertising for the Vita. The Vita was meant to give PS3 quality games on the go. There's a reason I got money from the Vita settlement.

@S A there's a version of dolphin that you are able to run GameCube games on the gbd xd plus just a few games like Zelda Wind Waker and Twilight Princess if you like those games. There's tutorial on UA-cam

I've bought me a ROG Phone 2 last october and it does the work with additional ROG Kunai Gamepad but i've paid much more... This device handles it too and costs 600 less. That hurts a bit but emulation on Handheld devices ist going the right way with android in my opinion.
Even if you find in this device good enough. Spec wise it is still overpriced. You'd be better off using mid range android phone like redmi note 8 pro or secondhand flagship android phone with telescopic gamepad.

With a 100th of the library, Id take something that can emulate any day. The Switch feels like the Vita. The only thing I use mine for is exclusives and Smash, basically. Outside of that, it's not a big attraction unless youre a loyalist.

Was about to pull the trigger on this, then thought I'd rather just attach the upcoming Razer Kishi controller with my SD 855 powered Xperia 1.
Definitely a better option you'll have clickable sticks and l2 and r2

Your best bet is to get a high end 4:3 tablet with a telescopic Bluetooth controller. That's a stretch but it's work a try.
For this price I'd rather have widescreen for Android games and newer emulation. But a cheap 4:3 Android device would be nice for older stuff.

First. Thanks for the extensive review! Keep up the good work! Very cool device! For under $200 I'd snag one probably. But at $380....nah. I wouldn't use the cell phone aspect part. But wow, portable GameCube, Dreamcast, Wii, and retroarch is nice!

I don't think the GPD WIN MAX will cost any less than $650 even while they crowdfund it. Probably will retail for $750-$850 depending on what storage you choose.

The replaceable battery is nice. I have the jxd s7800b and it pretty quickly developed battery life and energy issues.
Reminds me of the Psp, part of me deep down misses how you could browse the net and type with the keyboard back on the psp.

Great review, thanks for going into such detail and pointing out flaws perhaps others wouldn't. Especially that D-Pad. I was thinking of getting one of these until I saw that. Just like the JXD 7800B, S5800, and GPD Win - having no centre rocker ruins the d-pad. I love the Chinese portables but when are they going to learn? How hard would it be to just use a Saturn D-Dpad?

Your intro says it all and I have the same reason as you and the reason I'm here at your video is to find that device that can do it all. I've modded every console I own to do the same and I love it like a hobby and once I'm finished.... I never go back and play it ever again. Mabey my work will bring someone else happiness in gaming one day.
PSP was the closest I have come. I have tried a lot of emulator devices, but the PSP is one I always go back to. I hope GPD comes out with a real successor to the XD.

I can't see myself needing this when my phone + Xbox one controller works the same way. I can play games up to the original Xbox with no issues.

Yup. I got a redmi k20 pro and a flydigi wee 2t controller for 500€ and its specs are far superior to this device, and I can still use it like a regular phone when the controller isn't attached to it

Interesting but I'd be wasting my money when most of what I want to play works well on the Dingux devices I guess.
A small correction that you may already know by now. The reason you were able to get Mario Galaxy 1/2 running well is because a critical EFB-CPU setting is disabled. It's required for grabbing pull stars, starbits and a lot of Yoshi's tongue moves. The game isn't playable without it, but enabling is a performance hog. Even on a considerably more powerful S10, average framerate range is 35-45fps.
Better buy gamepad like Red Knight Ipega 9087 for your phone and you will have even better exp.

Honestly the device itself on the outside it looks amazing, and where the speakers are set up r pretty smart! I think so because the back of your hand is gonna be cupped and the sound will bounce off of your hand making it sound louder and give it an amplified effect you know
Really enjoyed the review. I took my phone in to get it serviced and the tech used a specialized tool to remove the battery cover (similar to the Xbox360 case removing tool). He said that it prevented warping. It was a very thin piece of stamped aluminium about the size of a credit card. I told him that he could go ahead and just pop the cover off by hand but he looked at me like I just instructed him to deliver a baby with grilling tongues. Anyway he just slid the thing under the edges and they popped up without any effort at all. I went looking for it online but it must be an industry or proprietary thing.
All I want is a HD portable that can flawlessly play all PS2 games. Find me that and name your price.
The GDP Win 2 may be the portable you are looking for, although it is expensive (800 dollars)

Tbh it shouldn't be a big ask for a current android phone to run most emulated games. Most of the time it's not a matter of hardware power, but software optimization. I hope the emulation community sees stronger development this year.

Interface stability is the reason game consoles have their respective prices. Billions of dollars on research have already been spent. All that a gaming console would require to be a perfect home computing device is a programming language IDE to create actual applications and some office packages.

altho the moqi is tempting you can get a xiaomi mi 9 with better specs and 128gb storage for almost $400 that runs every emulator available for mobile at full speed without tweaking settings. i guess it all depends on whether or not you want this, the gpd or a device where you need to buy a seperate controller

@@rtswift add cemu, the Wii u emulator for Android, to Steam and run steam link on the Android. Still have to have a decent desktop cpu and any old gpu.
