    Congratulations being first reviewing this meter!👏 Good luck fixing the backlight. 💡 It appears to have a screen protector, but I'm leaving it put.😎

      You know it's on so tight I tried to remove and the whole display started lifting so it stays on ! Thx for the kudos Paul and great follow up blog!

      @@KeepOnTesting 15:24 The Hold/Backlight button may be damaged or the PCB directly underneath. It's sitting crooked and the trace nearby is lifted from the dielectric. The wires to the backlight itself appear to be soldered correctly. In the PCB view, it's the top right button along the edge. Mechanically they need those retention flanges to be soldered not only to the top PCB layer, but also the bottom layer and a plated thru hole. They may have mounted the switch too close to the edge or failed to add the additional copper. A workaround would be to epoxy little blocks behind each switch for support.

      @@pault6533good catch Paul..yea the soldering on the switch was poorly done. The switch actually came off when I was putting the case back on.

    I am confused by these negative comments and review. As a multimeter, it seemed accurate enough. And it is super cheap, has a super large display...
    For this price, what the hell do you want? I think this is awesome.
    No this is not a bot, or ad... I am just trying to be realistic here.

      If ANENG hadn't marketed this as a Clock multimeter it would be a different story. But they did, and as a clock, it fails miserably. Sure it's an OK multimeter but definitely nothing special. Thx for watching 👀 👍

      @@KeepOnTesting I get this, but I think close to zero people would want to buy a Clock multimeter :D And as a person who wanted to buy a bench multimeter on the cheap, this is awesome! Has larger display, as you showed, accurate enough, and suuper cheap.
      I mean... a few years ago multimeters cost 10 times more, and sometimes were even worse and less accurate than this one. The negative comments are painful, because people do not seem to appreciate how easy we have it nowadays.

    The KOT blog now contains the 3.3V regulated lithium ion conversion, PLUS beeper volume boost, and FINALLY backlight automatic activation when the stand is opened.

      Good point. Unfortunately a bad soldering job on the BL switch is the root of the problem on this meter.

    A good feature to add in a multimeter is the reading of internal resistance for both the capacitors and the batteries... why the manufacturers don´t think of that? (both are the results of calculations that can be easily inserted in their programming)

    It's a novelty. Not a serious multimeter. Could be fun to keep on your desk at work to see what the temp and humidity is.

    What a weird combination...atleast has huge numbers. Wonder about how long batteries would last on that thing. If the backlight works, sure hope it wont die within 15 seconds. Looks nice for some long term monitoring if it stays on. Wondering if there is a model without the clock related features and just a big ass screen, that would be real cool!

    • @pault6533
      @pault6533 2 місяці тому +2

      Backlight only works when the DMM is running. It goes out after 1 minute elapses. When the unit is off, the clock is working of very little current. You are right, the appeal is a big display. As I get older I really appreciate big digits!

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  2 місяці тому +2

      Weird combination indeed, but the weirdest thing is why Aneng chose to run the clock with the tiniest font possible instead of using the big numbers above..? I think they rushed this one out the door which is too bad..

  • @watchmakerful
    @watchmakerful 2 місяці тому +3

    Are you sure it's 4000 counts? It displayed 5 V with four digits, so it's at least 6000 counts.

    • @pault6533
      @pault6533 2 місяці тому +1

      Very observant! I noticed this in additional measurements. For instance, in current mode, it goes up to 599.9 mA before switching to 0.600 A. V, C, R all 6,000 counts too. Confirmed up to 60 megohms and millifarads. Seems marketing missed the memo😊

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  2 місяці тому +1

      Yea that's weird. Listed as 4k count display, but it does seem to overshoot. I think Aneng underspecced.

    I think you're right, it's a gimmick meter. The font is way too small for it to be used as a clock or a hydro-thermometer on a regular basis. Besides, you can get actual hydro-thermometers for $5 a piece and place them around the house. They would last an entire year on a single CR2032.
    Also, it's 2024. We have smartphones and smartwatches that track our REM cycles to not interrupt our deep sleep. What is the market for this? 🤷‍♂

      Sometimes you need to document the time, date, temperature and humidity of your environment with the reading. Whether you are doing a picture of the screen or jotting it down, this adds convenience.
