- Just south of Gainesville is a small town with lots of history. Dating back to 1821, Micanopy is Florida’s oldest continually inhabited community in the interior of the state.
Known for its antique stores and unique restaurants, downtown Micanopy, with its oak tree canopy shadowing old brick and frame buildings is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Looks like a place to visit for sure. I love these quite quaint places.
On my way!i love Florida historical towns 🙏🏿✝️🌴🌴
Micanopy hasn't changed much since I was in high school back in 1975. I caught the school bus in Evinston and transferred to a different bus in Micanopy by the post office. Mrs Dorothy Lanas drove us to Eastside High School. That bus had some colorful characters like Scott Richardson and Donald Sheffield. And let's not forget Eastside High's most serious student, Ken Reddick. :-)
I loved this town and so wanna meet Michael J Fox as a kid when he was they're.

Lived in Florida all my life and always thought it was pronounced differently ever since I heard about a news anchor mention a story there on Channel 2 News. “Mick-can-opy”
Just don't go on a Monday, there was but 3 shops open. I suspect going on the weekend would be better.
