Appreciate this. I always have fun when I find out about other people in this scene since I'm pretty new to it. Tell me a top 5 to check out as far as phonk artists? I'd love to see what makes a good one in your opinion.
@@Jupiluxe gosh there's so many it's hard, especially when you include guys that strictly produce. I'm sure you've likely heard a lot of the artists I'll name but I think my favorite of all time is Baker(Ya Maker/ Baker Phonk), his discography is amazing and he's produced for so many great people plus all of the Devilish Trio shit is amazing. I love Purple Posse, especially DJ Smokey, Soudiere, DJ Yung Vamp, 6-6-6. Other favorite producers of mine are DJ Akoza(abosulte beast), DJ Sacred, Tenngage, DJ KillaC, Pharmacist, Apoc Krysis, Jason Rich, Shinigami Tenhsi. In terms of rappers though I again love Baker & Hydra Mane, Soulzay, Cursed, MC Holocaust, Nell, Freddie Dredd, Xavier Wulf, Lil Ugly Mane, Ramirez, Chris Travis, Amber London, Zootleggz, Slim Guerilla, Lil Kaine, Jak3, and so many more that I could name hahaha. But after my rant... my top 5 phonk artists are 1. Devilish Trio 2. DJ Akoza 3. Ramirez 4. Freddie Dredd 5. DJ Smokey I think the most important thing for becoming the best artist you can be is just having the willingness to try something different in each song/mixtape/album and just having uniqueness rather than copying trends. That's not to say you can't take influence of course but it's important to be yourself and I guess be introspective? Similar to what Mac Miller (who seems to be a fav of both of ours) did in creating his own brand

I tend to be really stick to myself when it comes to music, I don't really listen to much besides a handful of artists actively (of course I listen to a song or so as they come up, but I mean actively listening and seeking out songs to listen to, I only do that with a few artists at a time) and I've always been really focused/pure/obsessive/specific with that? I'm glad to see that a few of these people (a good portion of them) I have heard of before, so I'm learning. One or two I'm actually in contact with, so I'd love to have some crossover occur. Just found out about Purple Posse the other day, and of course followed them. If I can scrap together the coins to get a feature from a few of them I definitely think that's something that works in favor. (with the right conversations, who knows.)

You have a great ear for beats, good voice and flow and you definitely don't seem afraid to be yourself. I don't know for sure obviously but I feel like the artists in the phonk community care much more about artistry rather than money or "trying to make a hit" or whatever radio/mainstream rappers strive for. Just keep releasing music that you want to make, the secondary shit will all follow
