I do eat a lot of things that have calcium in it also. Thanks for all your information for helping people. God bless you and have a great day.

Vitamin K2 is required to move calcium out of your blood and into your bones. Vitamin D3 moves it into your blood.

A few points of agreement and some things to be added regarding bones and nutrients.
The body cannot convert VIT D intake to support bone without the sun. The main point in this video is that it’s not calcium that supports bone strength as much as it is Vit D. Calcium is simply part of the salts in bones, yes needed, but not the reason bones have strength. There is a process of break down of bone so that bones can regenerate. When that process is interrupted with various bone medications, it inhibits this process. The bones then become brittle. This doctor forgot to mention K2, which is an actual vitamin needed for the process of getting the HORMONE D (erroneously called a vitamin) to the areas needed and away from the blood stream. And many doctors do not mention strontium, a mineral needed for bone regeneration. I do like that this doctor emphasizes that one can get calcium IN their diet. We recommend calcium from food rather than supplementation as any type of calcium supplementation can bring about calcification, including sourced from algae - which he did not mention. We do however recommend Vit D3/K2 supplementation because MOST of us are low in Vit D around the world, as this doctor rightly points out. Bonus fact, some countries like Sweden: “The sun never rises more than 30° over the horizon during winter, which is the limit under which there is no vitamin D production at all.” And lastly, veganism (which is touched on) is the least likely way to get many necessary nutrients and in the right amounts for the synthesis needed by the mind/body to attain and maintain health.

So well said🤗 I take vitamin d / k2 and drink bone broth and my doctor wants me to take calcium, but I won’t, I eat nuts, vege’s, leafy greens ect. and feel that’s good enough.
I’m 67 and have osteoporosis and I’m refusing those meds too, I walk & exercise and do jumping and stomping, all this info. I had to find myself, I think we need designated ostio doctors who have to keep up with up to date info… I am going to have a R.E.M. scan later this year ( which my doctor had never heard of this scan😮), to check my bone strength.
      Sending good wishes from Australia😃

@@leeanneburchell7053 as you age, consider adding a bit of glandular to ground meat meals. It’s a very small amount needed. The various glandular options: thymus (immune), adrenal (energy), pancreas (digestive), spleen (supports the liver), and the typical kidney, liver, heart. There are good sources online which are often ground and some have the multiple glands in proportion to the total amounts in the body. We prefer bison and lamb over beef. We also recommend having some bone both pre-made in the fridge or freezer to add to stews and many other dishes. Another good food is bone marrow. It is great for the brain, particularly when roasted and eaten directly out of the bone. From the sea, we recommend mussels, oysters, and fatty fish. We also recommend well sourced goat milk and goat and sheep cheese for calcium. The D3 can be about 5,000 IUs per day if you remain within the more ideal range of 50-100 ng/mL. We prefer a liquid D3/K2 that has Met oil and Omega 3. Yes, agreed, this information should be on the minds and lips of every doctor and nutritionist however that is not at all the case. Good on you that you have pursued real facts instead of hype and misleading and incorrect information. 👍

You talk about insane amounts of vitamine D3 to get toxicity. I took 20.000 iu every day for a long period. In my opinion not an insane amount if I may believe many experts on this channel. I took a bloodtest lately. Result? Severe toxicity. 385 nml/l. I stopped immediately taking vitamin D3 supplements. I’m glad I also took 400 mcg K2 and 400 mg magnesium every day. I didn’t had any symptoms by the way.

I was tested last year and had a level of 385 as well.
I was taking 10,000 iu since covid.
My dr was alarmed at my level, and I was told to stop .
I was tested about 6 weeks later and it had halved.
I like yourself was taking k2 and magnesium with it.
I had no adverse affects either.
I only take 3000 iu every few days now.
Got tested again and I was 117.
Somepeople absorb it differently than others
      My daughter rarely takes any.
She was tested and was 77.

Absolutely! I have Lupus & we are notorious for having low D levels. That's the same amount my Rheumatologist prescribed me and my Neurologist called and said STOP, you're at a toxic level 😳 To be fair, that's a first for me, but you are correct, it doesn't take much, and you MUST get bloodwork often to monitor the levels. I had no symptoms either. Truth you all, you don't need vitamins if you eat healthy foods unless your Dr says so 😊

You're right on time. I was just researching Vitamin D. I haven't been diagnosed yet, but am experiencing what I've diagnosed myself 😃as having a more severe form of arthritis. I've been getting these bumps near my elbows (ugggghhh) and my daughter suggested it might be bursitis. I'll be seeing my primary early summer. I'm in my 60's so yeahhhhh, it's around that time, but some days are rough. I feel for these young people who don't hardly get enough sun these days. I don't hear much about 'rickets', but I can imagine not getting vitamin D naturally won't age well and frankly, I think many just don't understand Vitamin D. Milk always made me sick.
As always. thanks for taking the time to empower us concerning our health.

This year she says take calcium and D due to bone scan results showing osteopenia. Ty ask to my functional med provider, I take D now. I’ve added magnesium and on BHRT now. I hope I can reverse it.

Ugh .. I can't count the number of times a doctor has told me my vitamin D level, which was on the very first number of low-range, was "fine since it's in normal range." That's not just being a poor doctor, that's damned illogical. So I finally researched for myself a few years ago and am now at the top 3/4 of the range and I've never felt better. My previous tiredness, brain fog, random aches and pains and motivation is back to normal and better than in years. Listen to your body!

I have been suffering “atypical” fluid retention; most of the retention is in my thighs, especially above the knee.
A chiropractor told me my blood is “carboxylated” and that I need to take vitamin k2 in high doses. Does this make any sense with fixing the fluid retention. I’ve been to the ER several times now, because it feels like I’m in kidney failure, but my all my labs are good, except the thyroid; I’m very hypo. I know hypothyroidism can cause fluid retention, but is my chiropractor onto something. Thank you if you have any insight!🙏🏼 I am a distance runner & the fluid is career ending unless I can figure this out😢😣 Please help me!🙏🏼🙏🏼

    • @BetterMe981
      @BetterMe981 Місяць тому

I can't believe you didn't get an answer to your very important situation! I don't know if it will help but I've had hypothyroidism for two decades. I have never had fluid retention but I've always taken K2 with my D3 supplement. So maybe there is something to it.
I see it's been 3 months since your comment posted, so maybe and hopefully you and good doctors have figured it out by now and are happily running. But if not, and if you haven't already, please get your vitamin d levels checked and if they are low and even in the normal range start right away taking a good liquid vitamin D3 and K2 supplement. When I was deficient, I took 50,000 IUs of vitamin D3 for 2 weeks everyday. Then I dropped it to 20 ,000 a day for a month. I now take 10,000 a day and that seems to keep me just below the top of the range on the labs which is where you want to be. Every one of our bodies are different so whatever you take just check it in a month and see how your levels went up and adjust accordingly. Best wishes for you ❤.

Here's a comparison of the different calcium supplements against calcium carbonate, focusing on absorption, usage, and overall suitability for various needs:
      1. Calcium Carbonate
Calcium content: Highest (about 40% elemental calcium).
Absorption: Best absorbed with food as stomach acid is needed for optimal absorption.
Cost: Generally the least expensive option.
Use: Effective both as a calcium supplement and as an antacid.
      2. Calcium Citrate
Calcium content: Lower than calcium carbonate (about 21% elemental calcium).
Absorption: Does not require food for absorption, making it suitable for people with reduced stomach acid.
Cost: More expensive than calcium carbonate.
Use: Often recommended for older adults and those on acid-reducing medications.
      3. Calcium Phosphate
Calcium content: Moderate (about 39% elemental calcium).
Absorption: Does not require stomach acid for absorption.
Cost: Generally more expensive than calcium carbonate and comparable to calcium citrate.
Use: Good for people who need both calcium and phosphate.
      4. Calcium Lactate and Calcium Gluconate
Calcium content: Much lower (calcium lactate around 13% and calcium gluconate around 9% elemental calcium).
Absorption: Good but requires more doses to meet calcium needs due to lower calcium content.
Cost: Not cost-effective for high-dose calcium supplementation.
Use: More commonly used in clinical settings or when small amounts of supplemental calcium are needed.
      Decision Factors
Digestive Factors: Calcium carbonate requires stomach acid for absorption, making it less suitable for those with digestive issues such as achlorhydria or those on acid blockers. In contrast, calcium citrate and calcium phosphate do not depend on stomach acid and can be taken anytime.
Dosage and Frequency: Calcium carbonate offers more calcium per pill, which means fewer pills might be needed compared to calcium citrate, lactate, or gluconate.
Cost: If cost is a concern, calcium carbonate is typically the most economical choice.
Specific Health Needs: For those with phosphate deficiencies or specific dietary requirements, calcium phosphate might be the preferred option.

@anne I learned from another channel called Dr. Boz that through her own research to treat her father's D deficiency despite supplements, direct exposure to sunlight/UVB) could help raise D levels. FYI: I'm guessing that her father might live in a more northern part of the US because she had him go to a tanning salon a few minutes each day. I forget the amount of days it took for his blood test to show an adequate level, but it wasn’t very long. Hopefully you live in a sunny area in which case just sit in the sun with exposed legs and arms for 10-minutes daily for a couple of weeks.

And many doctors do not mention strontium, a mineral needed for bone regeneration. I do like that this doctor emphasizes that one can get calcium IN their diet. We recommend calcium from food rather than supplementation as any type of calcium supplementation can bring about calcification, including algae - which he did not mention. We do however recommend Vit D2/K3 supplementation because MOST of us are low in Vit D around the world, as this doctor rightly points out. Bonus fact about Sweden: “The sun never rises more than 30° over the horizon during winter, which is the limit under which there is no vitamin D production at all.”

@@ToddDouglasFox Thank you so much for your answer 🙏🏼🙂‼️ I truly appreciate you taking the time 👍🏼‼️
I found out, after slipping on packed snow so it was more like ice, landing on my wrist & broke the 2 bones going up to the elbow. It was bad… Both bones were dislocated & the top piece of one of the bones had broke off & was several centimeters further up towards my elbow. They operated as soon as they could. The plan was to open up my wrist on both sides, take bone from my hip to fill the holes in my wrist bones. First I got a plexus blocker (they couldn’t put it where it’s supposed to go because it was too tight & he went back & forth like 20 times to make sure) so he had to put it on top of my collar bone, far out to on the right side of my neck & it took a long time… They took me in & after a few minutes of talking they were going to put me to “sleep”. They (2 surgeons & + the anesthesiologist (is that the correct word)?
They were silent but since I didn’t fall asleep one of them asked me if I felt sleepy but I didn’t feel a thing. He gave me a HUGE shot of Fentanyl & after a little while I was “gone”.
When I woke up they had only opened one side & they didn’t touch my hip.
As it turned out I had severe Osteoporosis so they couldn’t use the bone from my hip.
I live in Sweden & we don’t get much sun…
I didn’t want the medication that they give you intravenously 1 time/year because the side effects sounded horrible! & there’s no plan after those 5 years?!
I got Sjogren’s disease so I’m always dehydrated which you cannot be, getting this medication & I’ve lived with Chronic pain since a work related accident many years ago, so I started looking for a natural way to try and reverse this.
I found Dr. Rubin’s (maybe I got his name wrong) & his low vibration plate but that was SO expensive… I’d already started with D3 & K2. I believe Boron should be good also & Zinc & Magnesium but it’s so hard to find someone that will tell you what kind?! There are so many different kinds of both Zinc & Magnesium.
You scared me a little when you wrote that I can’t absorb D3 if I don’t get enough sun 😟? What am I supposed to do if that’s how it is?
Would it help to take Melatonin?
I must have missed the information about Strontium…
There’s a place that just opened up about 45 km from where I live - it’s called OsteoStrong & I’d LOVE to try that! It’s just that they take 1000 Swedish crowns/time & that’s not really 100 $ but almost. I don’t have that kind of money 😳…
I can go one time for free & if I’d been able to sit through their presentation I would get a free Dexa scan also + trying the machines. I think it’s 4.
I’ll write them and ask if I could get this without having to sit & listen for hours when they tell you all about OsteoStrong. My body can’t take that.
I could’ve went the 22 of April but my doctor refused to give me my
“when needed” painkillers. The one I’d had for more than a decade was taken off the market but she didn’t tell me?! Instead she just didn’t renew my prescription, blaming that on the fact that they were taken off the market. Didn’t contact me to change it out! Unbelievable 😥…
It took a couple of weeks, lots of phone calls to the Boss of all the people working at the “hospital” I belong to & I found out that she’s a Nurse??!! So she can’t prescribe anything when my doctor refuses to do her job, but after using all the strength & energy I (don’t) have I finally got the least amount she could possibly prescribe & only half as strong as the ones I had before. Just imagine the pain I had & I couldn’t sleep. My husband couldn’t help me with phone calls or letters since he’s American & we don’t speak Swedish at home. He knows enough to manage at his job & most Swedish people speak English or at least they understand it even if they might not be used to speaking it.
She’ll call tomorrow & I have NO idea how to get through to her 🤷‍♀️! She’s always been difficult & she has no interest in helping me.
If you know what kind of Zinc & Magnesium I should take, I’d be truly grateful if you could write me back & how much Strontium? Have you heard about Melatonin being something that could help? & Boron I’ve also read about & that it should be added to the “cocktail” 😊.
      Thank you again 🙏🏼🙂‼️
I hope I’ll hear from you again!
      Take care!
      Lena

@@ToddDouglasFox I’m so sorry 🙏🏼😥‼️ I just now saw that this doctor had links to Zinc & Magnesium but I couldn’t see Melatonin or Strontium so I’d still love to get your input, if it’s not too much to ask 🫣? Thank you for all your information so far & thank you in advance if you’ll take the time to write me again 🙏🏼❣️😊

@@LitlaLjufa hi again. We recommend 5,000 IUs daily of liquid D3/K2. Do keep track of Vit D levels however. Some products we like also have a bit of omega 3 and MCT oil, and sometimes MK7. We like magnesium malate however sometimes a combination of magnesium forms (citrate, glycinate, fumarate, succinate additionally) are needed. The bone “fossilizing” medications (Boniva, Fosamax, Prolia) are the biggest farce for bone strength ever perpetrated about bone health. We need both osteoclasts and osteoblasts to regenerate bone. These drugs block osteoclasts and thus the bones cannot regenerate and become fossilized in essence. My recommendation is seafood, shellfish included for those who can eat it. This should be included weekly in the diet along with healthy dairy sources daily and BONE BROTH at least every other day. Be sure to use all bones, fish, chicken, and especially sheep and cow. We are in the U.S. so we use bison and elk bones. Bones need to simmer or slow cook for 24-72 hours. By the way, they should have known about the osteoporosis long before they did the surgery. One rec is to find someone there doing regenerative injections for the musculoskeletal. We use platelet rich plasma (not stem cell) and there must be injections into all of the damaged ligaments and tendons. Keep in mind the connective tissue to bones gets damaged when bones are damaged. This type of doctor does not do cortisone injections, just regenerative. Some doctors in the field do not realize that the wound healing cycle is 28 days and will treat too soon or too late in a series of treatments. Along with 1 month intervals, treatments must also be thorough (ultrasound can help with diagnosing) and there must be enough treatments - 1-6 treatments is usually not sufficient to regenerate the tissues. Lastly you asked what you should do about the lack of sun in winter, move closer to the equator during the winter OR simply get as much sun as you can during summer. Keep in mind that the 30 degrees the sun is from the horizon is not the entire winter. If your ng/ml level of Vit D is around 70-100 ng/ml, you should be okay. But do get your sunshine daily regardless. 👍

Wit.
