Welcome back to the series where I go through all of the guides for Monster hunter World, continuing with the switch axe guide!
From Weapon tutorials, to unlocking everything, to must know tips and Tricks!
For this video, as for the remainder of the weapon entries in this series, we'll go over basic weapon controls, powerful moves, features of the archetype, as well as skills recommended for the weapon.
Disclaimer: These videos are not as well done as some of the other tutorials out there. I have well over 1000 hours in MH World alone, but I am still new to making videos, especially tutorials, so I will be adding Arekkz's tutorials and his channel in my tutorial videos.
Feel free to ask questions or point out things that I missed, as well as other tutorials you may want!
If this helps make sure to drop a like and sub for more guides!

Switch Axe guide
It's worth noting that you don't actually need to do more than two Wild Swings to enter into a Heavy Slam.
Much like the SNS, perfect timing is rewarded, where inputting at the moment of the red flash will skip needing to wait for another swing. I typically need to anticipate the flash though, since waiting until just after you can see it like with the GS seems to be too late.
P.S. Although I saw the edit in the video clarifying that the axe buff doesn't actually affect sword mode, I didn't see anything saying what it does do: the axe buff from Heavy Slam increases the part damage and stagger from axe form.
Thank you!!!
You can actually morph back in to the axe directly after a zero sum discharge finisher, to get back a huge chunk of phial gauge.
Oh good to know thank you!!
4:40 heavy slam/empowered axe don’t increase damage
During ZSD, you can press LT to immediately clutch to monster bodies to save a bit of time.
great guide :D woiuld love some tips on what skills (decos) to use :3
If you want general skills, Crit eye, wexploit, and crit boost are all good. Agitator and attack boost are also good. If you plan to use the axe mode a to you can add constitution to lower the stamina use during wild swing. Otherwise, as the video states, focus will help with gauge building and maximight will be a good alternative to crit build if you're not using stamina much. Earplugs, and anything to help you not get knocked off the monster's body during a zero sum are also useful, but most people use rocksteady and temporal mantles for that!
as a CB user this makes me want to try this out. very similar loop, great video too!
You definitely should it can be a very fun weapon.
And Thank You!
Any tips on the weapon/gear to use in early guiding lands?
If i remember right, Shara weapons are a great start to early endgame activities. The armor will obviously depend on your playstyle but any MR elder dragon would work fine until you get Raging brachy, Stygian, Safi, fatty armor, etc.
Safi and KT are also really good for endgame sets in both weapons and armor.
I love SA but I hate the fact that almost all of it's attack is a commitment and the weapon has a very poor offensive move.
Yo what’s your layered armor in this video?
That looks like the Oolong Helm (MR) and Vangis B (HR)
what is this skin this looks nice lol
If you mean the Weapon skin it is the Brachydios skin!
The armor is Oolong Head, Long ponytail mod, Vangis armor
does grapple exist in mhw or u must buy mhw iceborn
The slinger is part of mhw where you can use slinger ammo. The grapple part (clutch claw) is part of iceborne
