Ray Comfort is a polemicist, and polemisicts, if they are worth their salt, will never let themsleves be exposed to enquiry by a knowledgeable opponent.
Polemecists worth their salt will never let someone knowledgeable like Trent question them.
I don’t think Ray Comfort has the ability to have an intellectual conversation about faith. He plays it safe and plays games when he talks to people.

I know Ben Shapiro doesn’t really do religious apologetics, but considering he’s had Trent on the Ben Shapiro show a couple times, maybe Shapiro would be willing to do a dialogue with Trent.
Or even make it a 2v2. Trent and Michael Knowles defending the divinity of Christ, and Shapiro and a Jewish apologist defending the Jewish perspective.
There is a Jewish lawyer in New York called Rob (or Rod) Coleman who on Timcast IRL said the Catholic Church was set up by people who really understood Jewish law. That would be a very interesting conversation.
The mormons spamming these comments to debate the immaculate conception are kinda dumb. Why would you debate something where there are so many degrees of difference? I can’t stand debates like this where there are obviously multiple degrees of difference between what both sides believe and what they are debating, always debate the first point of divergence on a question not the fifth
The moment someone put doubt in my head on my Catholic faith, I quickly took RCIA classes at 17 years old. Those studies were one of the best things I could have done. No one has ever been able to confuse me or take me from my faith.

Would like to see Trent talk to Wendigoon (Isaiah Nichols). He has a bunch of popular videos about biblical topics (angels, etc.). Not explicitly a Protestant channel, as others have said, but I think he would be interesting to have on.

I would really like to see more discussion on Eastern Orthodoxy and the Oriental Orthodox churches. I think Eastern Orthodoxy has definitely been growing on UA-cam and I would like for you to rebuttal some of their claims that they are the true church

so, he went to a top University and still believed everything that joseph smith said- about places and people in north America, where archeologists haven't found anything. not to mention the saga of the stone tablets, unfulfilled prophecies. JS also predicted his own coming by writing about it himself- very excellent stuff!! being a former catholic doesn't give him any special knowledge- kind of reminds me of the one that Allie-Beth Stuckly had: A former catholic who blames the church for not having read the bible at all. i am catholic and i read the bible (both testaments) when i was 12 yrs old.

Looking forward to your new channel. I am not a Catholic but currently learning about the faith. I just started RCIA classes. I Left the mormon church in 2016 after being a member for 25+ years. I identified as an atheist for about two years, then started to read the Old Testament attended a Protestant church for a while, but what brought me to The Catholic Church is the Eucharist. Debating a Mormon on the Immaculate conception sounds like a horrible idea when Mormons reject the doctrine of Original Sin. Especially since in Mormon Theology that God willed the Fall to happen. That without The Fall, the human species couldn't exist.
This kind of debate would be horrible.
Right. I would like to see Trent discuss the creation and the fall with a Mormon. Maybe as part of a long discussion about who God is, comparing "plans of salvation".

Because they have bishops and priests and traditional vestments etc a lot of Anglicans don't see themselves as protestant, they see themselves as a third branch of the Church along with Catholic and EO, but that Catholics and EO have errors.

Trent, love your content despite not being Christian myself. Would you be willing to do an in-depth exploration and defense of the resurrection? I've seen a few of your debates and have been thoroughly impressed. However, I have to say I was somewhat disappointed in your debate with Matt Dillahunty (and I don't even like the guy lol). I was not particularly compelled by your arguments as I have been in your defense of rationalizing our way to the necessity of a God by means of purely logic.

I would really love it if you held discussions or debates with alternative Catholic voices: the so-called "rad trads", sedevacantists, etc. So, SSPX, the Palmarians, followers of Vigano. Perhaps bring in their more orthodox or non-schismatic counterparts. Here in the online space, it's groups like Palmarian Catholic Church that are have been and are going to siphon off some of our more traditionally minded brothers and sisters.
I would also love it if you held discussions with serious Protestants that are perhaps closer to us on many issues: GAFCON, Anglo-Catholics, Anglican-Catholics and the like.
Also, please dialogue with some good Ethiopian, Assyrian and Oriental Orthodox theologians or apologists! (I left out Eastern Orthodox, only because so many people aren't even aware that these other Apostolic Churches exist!)
And of course, Ray Comfort! A good choice! I would love to hear you dialogue with Fr Calvin Robinson & Fr Brett Murphy & An Anglican Catholic Priest --- solid former Anglican priests!
Bring in some KJVO UA-camrs as well! And maybe even some DROs!
I think a conference is a great idea! Apart from the big names like Reason and Theology, get some of the smaller channels involved too. There's some young guys out here like Jaiden Forrest (not Catholic) and Cameron Riecker (Catholic) who are really making some awesome content and I think really have good hearts and are not afraid to think about their faith. It would be interesting to see Believing Thomas (a devotee of the SSPX) and Anthony Stine involved and Matt Whitman (an open hearted Protestant) and Ready to Harvest and TJ McCarty and of course Gospel Simplicity! There are loads of others!
It would be a really spicy conversation, but Sam Shamoun would be an interesting interview as well!

Hey LDS boys: Robert Boylan should debate Christian B. Wagner on Trinitarianism. He's having a weekend where he defends the Trinity against unitarians. You all should call in.
By “no ads,” I’m not sure if you mean no ads period, or no “sponsored during the episode” ads. Just in case it’s the former, I feel the need to say this as a fellow content creator. If you do not run ads on UA-cam, you are leaving A LOT of money on the table. UA-cam runs the ads no matter what. But if you keep ads “off,” the only difference is that it all goes to UA-cam’s pockets instead of both of your pockets. All of this to say, if the ads are turned off, I would prayfully reconsider if you haven’t already. This is money that would allow the channel to advance much faster. There is no shame in Catholic Answers getting paid for something that the team works so hard for. Especially if it’s all just getting invested back into evangelizing. Either way, thank you Trent and team for all the amazing work you do. 🙏🏻
I love the Counsel of Trent. I discovered this channel when earlier this year after I finally decided to stop being a legacy Catholic and actually get back to Church. There's not much local Catholic resources online in the country where I live so this channel has been a fundamental resource for me. I have learnt so much now and I truly appreciate the work you have done. Thank you Trent (and your team!).
It would really be interesting. Seeing you do interviews of other interesting Catholics and non-Catholics alike. I think you have so much potential to tap into. please put plenty of prayer into where the Holy Spirit wants to take your ministry and your support of all of us Christians. You are a fantastic apologist and not only that you’re very well read on all kinds of literature that could be very interesting and beneficial and helping build faith. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to those out there who are needing somebody to help lead them correctly in Catholicism and what it is to truly be Christian. It would be very interesting to see you bring on some regular ordinary amazing Catholics from around the country. Who are doing interesting projects and their own parishes or communities. And how they accomplished some of the things they have done in their local areas. Some of these people are amazing and are not noticed or recognized by anybody.
I run a small Catholic Men’s Group at my parish. I would love to see you do 15 minute shorts that could help people in men’s groups or women’s groups or whatever kinds of groups that are out there. Or even CCD teachers. Where it’s short enough that you can have time to have discussion time within an hour or two an hour hour and a half and watching your video at the same time. That would be really awesome if you could do some things like that.

I think with how dark the world is becoming, it may be time to pivot away from ecumenical debates or dialogues and focus on the lost. The ecumenical stuff, while beneficial, sometimes comes across as friendly fire.
I would love to see Trent have a dialogue and/or debate with Robert Boylan on the immaculate conception. He is an ex-Catholic turned LDS, and many in the LDS church consider him the most qualified to discuss this topic

Reason 1 - Are you aware that Robert had accepted a debate on either PWA or Capturing Christianity in 2022 of 2023 to debate a Catholic? And when Robert found out some days later that the opponent would be Jimmy Akin, that Robert cancelled?
Reason 2 - Robert has only debated once (that I know of), but feel free to correct me. It was a 2vs2 against some third rate Protestants, and Robert used a lot of Catholic arguments against Sola Scriptura in that debate.
When Robert had a chance to debate a top Catholic apologist, he cancelled, and when he does debate, it's never solo and always against questionable opponents. Hence my labelling him as an armchair QB. He simply doesn't have any track record of speaking to a diverse group of knowledgeable opponents.
If Trent has the time, and inclination, I hope he does take on Robert, and opens your eyes to the lies you speak of the Catholic Church.

Whatever the reason you think Robert is an "armchair QB" is irrelevant to what I said in the original comment. So no, it would not have been "better" to ask you why.

That's incorrect. Robert originally spoke with Jimmy Akin in 2020 and offered to do a debate on The Book of Abraham, but Jimmy and Matt Fradd refused and instead wanted the debate topic to surround the entirety of the uniquely-LDS scriptures. THAT is the point where Robert refused to debate, citing that the debate topic was unreasonable due to how unfocused it would be. Each book in the LDS scriptural canon is unique from one another in both their content and in their translation, and each requires a significant amount of depth to explain and defend. Expecting an LDS apologist to debate the veracity of ALL of the scriptures in a single debate setting is ridiculous, and Jimmy and Matt know this. In an email exchange, Matt even cited Robert's concerns as "reasonable", and yet did nothing.
Fast-forward to 2023 and Robert is once again invited onto PWA due to requests from Latter-day Saints to have PWA talk to Robert. Upon contact, Robert once again requested to have a focused debate on ONE of the uniquely Latter-day Saint scriptures, and Jimmy once again declined for the same reason. Jimmy again wanted to force Robert to have to defend the entirety of the LDS scriptures. So once again, Robert backed out, citing the unreasonable debate terms.
The fact that Robert originally offered to debate The Book of Abraham and Jimmy refused, and THEN Jimmy later tried to deflect and make it look like Robert is the one who is scared to debate is absurd.

I'm unaware of how many debates Robert has done formally, but I know for a fact that he has offered to debate James White, Jeff Durbin, Jimmy Akin, Bill McKeever, Eric Johnson, Lynn Wilder, Micah Wilder, "Pastor Jeff" (Hello Saints), and It's Me Jessie. ALL of the aforementioned individuals are critics of Mormonism and have produced content that has amassed views on social media ranging anywhere from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions. And not a single one has accepted Robert's offer.

He would have a better track record if the above-mentioned opponents of Mormonism actually had the guts to put their money where their mouth is, but they don't. They're not actually interested in having a dialogue with an informed Mormon. They just want to talk down to us and tell us we're wrong.

I have a modicum of respect for Trent for talking to Jacob Hansen, but Jacob is just an internet personality. My respect for Trent would skyrocket if he actually debated Robert. Or if not Robert, I would respect Trent for debating an actual LDS scholar, like say, Blake Ostler.

I've read Robert's blog more than the average non-LDS person would, over the last 2 years. The way he presents his arguments, is incoherent and unprincipled - something that will get exposed out in a formal debate. So no surprises, he has avoided debates for most of his career in the public eye.
The typical way he critiques an opposing view for example a Catholic doctrine, is to cite the opposing view from every single person he can find regardless of their theological background, i.e. orthodox, secular, athiest, Protestant etc. This is called cherry picking from other groups, without a substantive understanding of the basis of their opposition which would also demolish LDS doctrines.
Your debate with Hansen on the Book of Mormon is already one of the top ~75 most viewed videos on Pints with Aquinas, which is impressive considering their volume. A debate with Robert Boylan on the Immaculate Conception would be 10x better-- both of you are 10x more knowledgable on the subject. Let that sink in.

@@Gabagoober Having communicated with a few of these NPCs, it seems that Robert Boylan has finally decided to debate a Catholic, that is after he cancelled a debate he signed up with PWA or Capturing Christianity 1-2 years ago, when he found out it was Jimmy Akin he would be debating.

Clearly, because the channel is growing, you have tapped into a real need. Thanks be to God!!! However, I will probably tune in less, I really don't enjoy the dialogues and debates. I am already Catholic, so I may not be your target audience, but I am so glad you are producing content that may sway non-Catholics, that is amazing. I miss the old days when you would do 1.5-2.0 hours of taking apart and explaining why a protestant is incorrect about Catholicism. I was poorly catechized when I converted and those videos were SO EXTREMELY HELPFUL figuring out how to explain the more complex teachings of the faith. I always get excited when it is a video like that, even if it is short. I am certainly not going to unsubscribe and I will be praying for you and the channels success, but it does make me a little sad that I may not be consuming as much of your content in the future. - I would love to see more discussions regarding birth control, especially for Protestant Christians (Louise perry, Sarah hill, Scott klusendorf, Patrick Coffin, Stephanie grey Connors and Mike gaskins come to mind as people with different views and perspectives).
I know a channel cannot be everything and this channel seems to emphasize outreach to our 'seperated brethren,' but I wonder if there could be some outreach to the culture in general. I know Trent, you have done this in regards to pro-life issues, but the America I love has been changed from a life affirming culture to the "Culture of Death." Scriptural references are often lost on the younger generations. I taught in public schools and the knowledge of Judeo-Christian tradition is near non-existence. One would need to reason with such lost sheep as St Paul did to the Athenians with the 'unknown God." Can more of this be done?
