Hey everyone, I hope you enjoy the reaction! I'll be starting Season 2 today so if I got anything wrong or misunderstood anything in the movie please let me know!
In episode 2, Riko listed the features that she had found out about reg when she was trying to wake him up at the beginning, that "he can run on either food or electricity". I feel like that was a hint towards reg's ability to absorb electricity to gain energy (or to replenish his incinerator relic). So excited for season 2. It's my favourite 🥰
Bondrewd will do everything for science, It will sacrifice even himself and others with no remorse because for him to even be used just a bit to help understand the abyss is the greatest gift in life, a privilege or even a act of love. All bondrewd is its a force of nature incapable of loosing because any consequence is of learning and every lesson is understanding, and that is bondrewds very desire, to make sense of it all, of this pit. May your jorney overflow with curses and blessings.
Yep. That's one of the reasons he asks for volunteers from various orphan slums around the world. He's giving them the opportunity to come and help achieve something together with him when they'd normally just die pointlessly in a gutter, forgotten and alone. The things he does are absolutely unforgiveable, but he doesn't do them out of malice.
About Nanachi saying that they came to "an understanding" with Bondrewd, apparently they negotiate off-screen (and behind the scenes in the manga, too), and he basically allows them to go down and assists them, and in return they dont thrash his shit up even more. Its not like he's incapable of effectivelly stopping them, or anything. Not so fun fact: notice Meinya's full name "the child of change" and part of the creature's name is Ilim - like the girl Bondrewd takes right before Mitty? Remember how he says that he experimented with pairing people with animals in the elevator? You do the math...
@@michajastrzebski4383 damn, i wish i was smart enough to notice stuff like this first watch, i wonder if she is aware of her state, or maybe her human mind has been hollowed and the animal took over the body.
Good catch on the black whistle. I heard someone mention that he was one of the Umbra Hands, but didn't realize it was that specific one. 48:40 presumably his Incinerator got recharged when he plugged into Idofront. That fight scene coming up from the 6th layer while "The Rumble of Scoentific Triumph" plays is so good! I doubt the limit on the incinerator is intentional, but it probably takes a lot of power to use. Leaving him alive isn't great, but at this point he has quite a few Umbra Hands scattered around. I wish they at least blew up Zohalic.
Prushka says she doesn't want them to fight anymore. They're honouring her request. Even though she's literally a rock now, she's still around and she still loves her Papa. She doesn't want to see her friends hurt him or see him hurt her friends.
The papa pole thing is an issue with the subtitle translations, Bondrewd never did anything of that sort to her. Papa pole is a term Pruska learned while in biology class with Bondrewd meaning the pole that can make you a papa aka penis, it wasnt meant to refer to bondrewds dong (apparently this was confirmed in an interview by the author). Bondrewd was left alive because Pruska requested from both riko and bondrewd to stop fighting. In the movie we learned that the real Bondrewd is dead, he sacrificed his own body for his whistle and lost his soul to the zoaholic. His great scientific mind is being controlled by the zoaholic, he just understand things as a robot and advances to do it regardless of how he does it and who it hurts. Thats kinda how i see him anyway, not excusing of his actions but im pretty sure his mind/consciousness are long gone. Looking forward to S2, it just keeps getting better and we have a new layer to explore 👍
In my country it is pretty common for children to see their parents naked from time to time or even strangers (like in public baths where people often shower naked, these showers are not mixed showers, but people don't care about it in regards to children, so it is common to see a dad taking his daughter with him, as long as she is considered to young to shower alone.) So kids here know about these bodyparts, without any kind of sexual context to it, they just know how woman and man look down there and have a name for these bodyparts. I'm always surprised, when people see this szene and immediately think about something sexual.
He's not "long gone", Bondrewd very literally _is_ his White Whistle. That's his real body. A lot of people describe him as body hopping around to different Umbra Hands, but that's inaccurate. He's attached to all of them at all times and he simply controls different ones manually. Zoaholic allows him to imprint himself onto them, but it's no longer required after he's done that. There are three "modes" to the Umbra Hands. There are the times when the actual owner of the body is in control of it. There are the times when they're on "Auto-Bondrewd Mode" where they behave robotically. There are the times when Bondrewd is directly controlling them.
@BloodrealmX That was the impression I got from the Umbra Hands. They were in a sort of autopilot state when he wasn't specifically controlling them. Especially in the scene where Nanachi Freed Reg.
Didn’t one of the Umbra Hands say the area was off limits for 60days of surface time. 🤔. Also the song that played in that scene Prayer and Immolation is on of my favorite in the movie
Don’t forget get that Reg got shocked and his art style change in the first fight with Bondrewd. I think that somehow recharged his ability and gave more uses. Also Reg said he remembered how to use the his body so maybe he’s gotten more efficient at managing the energy cost of using the incinerator. Also Bondrewd is my favorite character to DESPISE and I want a figure of his Hollow form to accompany my 7 Nanachi figures
I hope he gets another recharge because I want to see more than 10 more uses of the incinerator. Also, after watching this movie, I definitely get why Nanachi is a fan favorite! I was thinking about trying to collect the white whistles from the show is there a good retailer to get them from because rn I'm just searching the internet 😅
@@Vman522 I haven’t looked for the white whistles specifically but I have seen Liza’s and Riko’s on sale on the RightStuf store when season two was coming out, but that was a while ago.
They didn't really leave him alive, the one in the last battle is dead, but they didn't destroy the mask or the Zoaholic. Reg got recharged, well maybe overcharged right before the unhinged battle, that's why he had more shots.
No commenters mentioned the cycle-thing, so I'll do it. Bondad didn't want to improve some vague idea of "science" - he was preparing for coming of the new cycle/"new dawn". It isn't very well translated into the anime, but every 2000 years almost everything on this island suddenly dies, maybe you remember "praying skeletons" from the first season, they are about 2000years old (1900+) and were mentioned as such. Meaning that Bondad at first tried to discover how to stop that, and running low on time, he decided that the best he can do, is to try help the future island inhabitants, as the current Orth is just f*#$%^. This is why he was trying to replicate the "Blessing" form of Nanachi, which hopefully, as a blessing of the Abyss will be allowed to survive the cataclysm. Which would give him about 2000 more years to find the fix for this problem. So far I have not seen anyone in the reaction scene who would caught on to that puzzle, so no worries. It takes anonymous autistic fourchan scientists to dig things like that out of the manga, but once you see it - it makes sense. Also welcome to the season 2. Reject the ugly rabbit. Embrace the patrician moth.
Not surprising that your reaction at the end is still similar to that of most reactors, i.e. you wanted them to destroy everything here. The movie really didn't do the manga justice at all, and actually left out a few key frames about Bondrewd. I had a similar impression at first, but reading the manga brought about a different experience. The author is a master at reversing the readers' impressions of characters in this story. Everything he says is genuine, including his love for Nanachi and Prushka. Also, without him preparing the white whistle, Riko couldn't have advanced. He is just so far removed from the way ordinary people think and act and has zero "empathy" in a mundane sense (including towards himself), it's unfathomable. I won't post a long analysis here though if you're interested you can find plenty of those online. Truly one of the unique characters in manga history. I wouldn't say I like him as some people claim to do, though I also can't bring myself to dislike him in the end. He's rather a fascinating character to observe in many ways.
I've noticed a that Bondrewd has a lot of fans and I've seen a few videos about "How Bondrewd was Right" but I've refrained from watching them because I'm not sure if it will spoil anything in S2 but after I finish the series I will definitely be taking a look into theis to trying and understand his motivation more.
I´ve never been as angry as while this "reaction" of this paranoid "think tank" who missed and ignored soo many details of the story while finding out if Bondrewd gets killed in this movie or later. His idea is "bondrewd is bad and evil and the kids are good"! The bullshit of the century. Bondrewd has the same job as Ozen: preparing the cave riders to reach the deeper levels. Lyza sacrificed Rikos dad for getting a White Whiste and if Riko would have known what to do for getting a White Whistle she would have ripped off Prushkas limbs and stuffed her organs into the cartridge. Nanachi tortured and killed soo many cave riders for his own sake, for killiing Mitty. They all are fanatics who do EVERYTHING for reaching their goals. Reg is a ticking time bomb, only his lost memories make him "human". Bondrewd is the only one who was ready to sacrifice his own body to become a White Whistle and HE is the bad and evil guy? Very funny.
While I agree with your statement about missing many of the details in the movie. After editing and having the chance to re-read the lines of dialog, I don't believe we can say Bondrewd and Ozen had the same role in the series. Ozen, while intimidating and sometimes blunt, never took the opportunity to dissect children to advance civilization as a whole. Bondrewd is shown to have a deep love and care for the children he works with and the fact that he took it upon himself to exterminate the creatures that made their way from the 6th layer to the 4th is pretty considerate. Having never read the monga these are the only examples I have of him being a kind person. Although he did sacrifice his own body to become a white whistle that doesn't expunge his actions in any way from the countless numbers of children he's used to further his advantage in cave raiding even if it was done with a pure heart. As for Nanachi, I was under the impression that they were only experimenting on cave raiders who were significantly wounded by the orbed piercer and other creatures of the abyss, and many of the techniques used by Nanachi were learned after being forced to help with Bondrewds own plans. I don't believe if any of the children (including Nanachi) knew the real reason for what Bondrewds offered intended that they would have willingly gone with him, besides the children he saved from the effects of the curse like Prushka. Finally, for Riko I can say with 100% confidence she would never do that to poor Prushka 😅
Lyza's White Whistle is not Torka. She already had it when she married Torka. It's someone else. Reg was not a mindless horror before he lost his memory. His personality was not lost when he shut down, only his detailed, specific memory.
