Cal Poly students counter-protest Turning Point USA speaker panel

- On December 5th at 6:15 p.m., blue and pink lights shined on the outside wall of the Fisher Science (Bldg 33). A crowd gathered, waving transgender and nonbinary pride flags, holding signs that read “Trans rights are not up for debate” and “My friends deserve to feel welcome here.” Many were waiting to watch the opening act of a Drag show hosted by Cal Poly Drag Club, in direct response to the event occurring inside.
Meanwhile, Fisher Science Rm. 286 slowly filled to capacity as people waited for a guest speaker panel hosted by the Cal Poly chapter of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Campus Police watched from behind a barricade while pre-registered attendees checked into the event.
The event, called “A Dad and a Detransitioner’s Take on the Transgender Movement” on TPUSA’s Instagram post, featured talks from Chris Elston - also known as “Billboard Chris” - and Chloe Cole. The speakers were followed by a Q&A segment - TPUSA wrote on Instagram that “peaceful debate and disagreement is encouraged.”

So you are in the right because you are perfect? Stop being hypocrite because anyone with common sense and high level of maturity knows how complex life and people are.

Free speech and contrasting opinions are supposed to be part of higher education, not mobbed out of existence. And if transitioning is supposedly so brave and inspiring, shouldnt deteansitioning be even more so? From a Mustang parent.

as freedom rights exists, it’s your right to trans, and this is a very new thing as looking back 50 years people hardly have the choice to even be able to choose trans or not.
and it’s also that on the other side, others to accept your ideology of trans or not, it doesn’t work being you have freedom rights and they don’t, it’s not discrimination to not accept trans, and that’s not transphobia, a phobia of something is a nerverous system rejection towards things, it’s more towards reflexes than thoughts processed through the brain, if they looked at you, didn’t not flinch or shown obvious medical symptoms, it ain’t a -phobia, but a personal opinion towards deeds, and you have absolute zero rights, to manipulate what others think.
