Speaking of lock and key I have used this explanation with many boys. However, I add that as boys there is a male lock. The male lock is attention. I counsel these boys never to give women attention for free. Make any girl or woman earn your attention. Do not give away your attention. Make your attention valuable. I'm sure that we have common sense enough to know that men & women are different? Therefore, it would be accurate to say that you know the reality of a man's experience would be different than a woman's and visa-versa? In pre-historic times prior to mankind's development of civil societies we obviously had no technology invented for birth-control? Due to the obvious physiology in human beings since the start of our existence, females bear the burden & responsibility of carrying children. Clearly, imagine if all of the women during ancient/ pre-modern times had engaged in sex with many multiple partners on a consistent basis, behaving as an open ejaculate depository? No-one would ever be able to determine who fathers are of these children? Anyone with even the lowest level of discernment would be able to see that this occurring on a mass scale in communities would have chaotic & disastrous affects on society. One could easily visualize the wars and confusion among the men behaving like a pride of lions fighting for mating rights_ and women going at each other like packs of wild hyenas! Whereas, on the other hand the mother is readily identified simply because she is carrying? Because of the fact that the interaction with the woman is internal, and interaction with the man is external, the taboo and sexual restrictions were placed mostly on women. Likewise sexual restrictions were also placed on men as well_ but more-so on women for the reasons I previously stated above. Its possible and likely that this imposition was self-imposed by the matriarchal group? Since early civilization did not have DNA testing and birth-control technology like we do have today, these situations were likely handled in the most practical way possible relative to those times. Wether these historical sexual repressions were self-imposed or not? Wether it seemed double standard, sexist, fair or not? During those early civilization times, that simply was the way of life. Historically the lack of technology had forced our society to monitor it's behavior? Today, it has freed us up... The question is, are we really better off?
@@vickmurray5751 'free sex' also spreads disease. while they lacked the scientific understanding of things, people of the past weren't stupid and would recognize the correlation between the spread of what we now know as STDs with 'free sex'. whether they recognized it as natural process or some form of divine punishment this is clearly another reason societies developed sexual modesty and chastity outside of a select partner/s as a virtue.
as for it being a 'double standard', most of the time societies also developed similar expectations for men, its just harder to enforce on men.

It's a biological double standard, but one we have no control over.
