Railtour with 70000 'Britannia' & 7325 Bristol to Swansea & Return.- 4th November 1995

- Spent a full day back in November 1995 following this Rail-tour with my good friend Bob Masterman.
The Railtour was hauled by 70000 'Britannia' & GWR Mogul 7325 from SVR.
We started filming in Bristol & then at Skewen Bank before going to Landore where the locos were being serviced.
Access to the edge of Landore was easy, we couldn't believe that there were no other photographers around.
7325 was failed due to a hot box on the tender & 70000 had to complete the trip on its own.
We filmed 70000 dep Swansea High Street for Bristol, much later than scheduled due to problems with the Mogul.
7325 remained at Landore until it was eventually retrieved & returned to SVR for repairs.
After a water stop at Port Talbot we managed another shot as 70000 stormed through Pyle on the climb to Stormy.
Sorry for the poor quality of the video & sound in places. I had a problem with my external mic!

What a great day that was Ger, I remember it as though it was yesterday.
I was just under 2 years old when this tour took place.
Britannia sounds as if she's well overdue for an overhaul! By sight & sound Britannia seemed to be struggling and showing her age....
It was almost 25 years ago & my sound recording isnt brilliant, The Brit has had two overhauls since then
@@caerphillycastle aswell as major repairs recently as it suffered a catastrophic failure of it's right side crosshead while working a railtour last August, 22nd August 2023 to be exact. The crosshead snapped in two and damaged the front right side cylinder cover aswell as other amounts of severe damage.
