Fab and magical night flying, Adam! The daytime flying was very palatable, too, of course. I've been having some Radian fun myself last week and have become a Radian fangirl almost overnight. Loved the cheeky catches to end the flights! Great and enjoyable video from the AV8R Meister! 👍👍
Hi Adam -another oldie but goodie (ish) aircraft from Horizon Hobby, to be Frank - I am sure Frank will not mind, I was not happy with the quality of my Night Radian - it crashed due to an elevator servo going faulty, then had issues 6 months later with the Rudder servo also replaced - I had to stiffen the fuselage as it was flopping all over the place - its now OK - Mine is dedicated now to Brian - as he had and loved to fly the Radian, I also installed the Remote light changer so I can now change the lights in flight... the other good thing about the remote light changer is that it sets 4 leds on each wing tip to RED or GREEN as in Port and Starboard this helps a lot during night flights and Orientation.. it does give you a nice, relaxing, calm and easy time but can be a little boring - Umm sounds a bit like me and Brian !!! LOL....See what I did ?!
I miss old Brian. Such a great guy, and the Radian is a real match to his personality...calm, pleasant, and beautiful. And yes...I see what you did there!
I ordered this plane, if Horizon would ever ship it. There was an error on the order or something, their system has been full of these for awhile. Anyway looking forward to flying this one. Great vids as always.
The Night Radian is a very impressive glider for a 3 channel plane. I own both the Flite Test version and two of the 2.0m BNF's. I want to install a wingnut LED controller so I can cycle the lights in flight using my NX8 or NX10 controller. Good video showing the plane but wished you would had done a final thoughts segment.

Great video. I have an original v1 and a flite test night version. Both have been enjoyable and relaxing planes. You are correct about the attention the night version gets. One night, a couple of us were flying these at night at the local park. We had cars stopping on the road nearby and people coming to the park to watch us. It was a fun night.
The optional WingNut controller does work well and I have it installed on mine - It allows for color/pattern changes WHILE IN FLIGHT (and also has an altimeter feature). However, there are not as many patterns to choose from versus the stock offering. Still worth it though.....
Thats a fun, sit in the lawn chair type of flyer for sure.. I enjoyed your review, but was a little disappointed that I didn't see an inverted flying.. 🙂. (enjoyed your ending... well done my friend...)
I enjoyed your graceful flying, and the rudder maneuvers were fun. I loved your 1st landing - with a slide into home plate and pivot as it stops. The colorful night flying seems a bit like a flying cuttlefish. Can it eliminate mosquito problems while I fly at night?
Just love mine Adam & i really fid enjoy the lights until they ( or the lighting controller) burnt out. I wonder if a new controller can be re attached mmm! The only problem i had is that folk walking on the beach thought it was a UFO at night 😂 Well flown & presented mate!!

Say I just purchased my Radian, I also have a multiplex glider which I added lites to. My question I have is, did you cut off an change your battery connector to something else on the plain. I like to use them Red Dean's connectors on my plains....will that work thanks an awsomeee flying.
@@kevinwichtman4667 I've cut and soldered different connectors in the past but now I just use adapters. My batteries and ESCs are almost all E,I,C3, E,IC5, XT30, and XT60s. Have a few ESCs with Deans but just use an adaptor. Jeff
Great job thanks for sharing! It's funny to me that the light system is powered by the balance plug that Spektrum has removed from their G2 batteries 😂. I guess those folks are out of luck.
Great shots! What camera is Heidi using? All crisp and clear, no blur on the night shots at all. Was she focusing manually? I was trying to get some night shots as well - from iPhone14 and DJI Osmo and autofocus failed miserably in these ‘light’ conditions. I have also purchased the WingnutTech controller and I love the two features of Nav lights and height dependent pattern, still the overall number of pattern is very limited (18) and sadly I couldn’t find a community yet that would create new patterns for it. The Night Radian is exactly as you described it. It does look very majestic when flying low and slow at no wind, just because of it’s size. As a comparison: The Conscendo - just 50 cm less wingspan - never looks majestic 😂, even though a most awesome plane for other reasons.
Hi. Thanks for another great video. Can I ask for a quick bit of advice please? I love the idea of the cool night lights on this but I feel that maybe the 1.5m Conscendo Evolution might suit my needs more (first glider, interested in slope soaring, higher wind tolerance maybe(?), robust to put in the back of the car without dismantling). Which would be your recommendation? Thanks in advance
You should install the J Bauer light controller . You can control the lights from your remote turn them on turn them off speed and pattern but from your transmitter
Nice video on the night Radian :-) I tried it in RealFlight and it does fly very good. The only thing i don't understand is why the Night Radian seems so good to fly in RealFlight but if you use the Conscendo for instance and limit yourself to power/rudder/elevator then it doesn't feel nearly as good to fly as the night Radian. Do you have any idea why that is the case ? Does the Radian perhaps have a lot more throw on rudder and elevator ?
Thanks. The polyhedral wing on the Night Radian makes turning with rudder much easier. With the Conscendos more flat wing coordinating turns with rudder and aileron is necessary. And also yes...the NR has a much larger rudder as well.

I use 3s 2200. Just depends on how well you fly it as a glider. I've flown as long as 20 min but have seen one flown much longer...with a smaller battery by a better thermal pilot than me.
@@ModelAV8RChannel Thanks for the quick reply, I just saw on amazon it says15-30 mins, so I guess a good pilot in the right conditions with 2 batteries could possible get up to an hour of flight time which is pretty awesome, seems like a lot more flight time out of this model plane than most others.........
@@ModelAV8RChannel Are there better power gliders than this one? bang for buck seems pretty good on this, the lights are awesome for low light and the slower speeds make for a more relaxing flight with more room for error..........

yes it is, do the wings come off easy and I like relaxing flights and my buddy up north sending me a eflite eratix and I have the ultra stick ready to go a lot of winds over here in FL@@ModelAV8RChannel
Yeah man two screws per wing, and you plug/unplug the lights. Pretty quick. The Ultra Stick is a fun one! It's been windy here too bro...I'm jonesing to fly! Lol

Absolutely if you want a glider you can slope soar, fly in more wind, etc. the Conscendo EVO is a much better glider for that.
