After King Solomon's reign, the kingdom of Israel was divided into two parts: the northern kingdom, called Israel, and the southern kingdom, called Judah. Jeroboam became the king of the northern kingdom. However, Jeroboam made a big mistake by leading the people away from God. He built 2 golden calves for them to worship instead of encouraging them to worship God. Because of his actions, Jeroboam faced God's punishment, showing us the importance of following God's ways and the consequences of disobedience.
