THANKS for posting this video! I agree with a couple of the other comments...the 90's were the best ever. AMAZING that it is almost 20yrs old. ( fUcK! I didn't feel like an old fart until I did the math. ha!) I remember dancing my ass off at 5am with about 250-300 other people at Probe in L.A., in the late 90's of course. B.B.E. hit the floor many, many times... Hearing this just now brought it alllll back for a few minutes... Now, I'll admit, there's a lot of good "4am-Hypno-Techno" (as I've called it since the 90's), if you know where to look, but it's sparse. I'll be saying it until the day I die: 1996-1998 had the best 4am-Hypno-Techno of all time...SOMETHING happened to music during those two years that I seriously don't think will ever occur again. I can't put my finger on it completely, but the common denominators were: No lyrics, or minimal…like maybe one single word: "Desire, Desire”... the melodies and sounds were always unique for each song, and the tracks always evolved one's consciousness into a dreamlike state before the listener was aware of it. The word "haunting" always comes to mind, too... Like B.B.E., there were SO many "one album wonders,” with incredibly unique sounds and gripping atmospheres to them...the songs all seemed to have a common "spirit" to them...as far as I could hear... Something cosmic occurred in 1996 that made an incredible amount of artists throw caution to the wind and create sounds that THEIR souls wanted to groove on...not what the music industry, EMI, Sony, or Polygram thought about their sound and how it would impact the world and their wallets. OK, so for the past two months, I have made it a side project to track down as many of my favorite tracks from that era. (I am NOT a DJ...I was the guy always going up to the DJ booth asking WTF he was spinning.) It has been difficult at times, then, at other times I will find 5 or 6 whoppers in an evening. My poor neighbors! I am finding that almost every song that completely "had me by the skull" was just COINCIDENTALLY released from '96-'98. (I was out there partyin' and dancing for almost a decade, by the way...not just those 3 years. ha) I'll always consider that decade the best in my life...well, at least in the sense of amazing music, dancing all night long, and not having a care in the world... If you're still reading this, then I'll toss a few titles at you to awaken some forgotten memories, feelings, etc. I am planning on posting either the actual tracks/videos, or doing the playlist thing. I am still learning it, but if you're interested in getting ahold of some amazing '96ers, check back with my channel in the next month after I finish tracking down tracks. I ALWAYS WELCOME suggestions, SONG TITLES, ARTISTS, etc from the late 90's! Here are some of my latest finds that I had totally forgotten about: Solarstone - Day by Day (1998) (This monster TOTALLY takes off right at 2-1/2 mins.) ua-cam.com/video/5fhxQSWC6Fk/v-deo.html Legend B - The Spirit (1998) ua-cam.com/video/TBH7FW8jrzE/v-deo.html Grace - Skin on Skin (Orange Mix) 1996 (DON’T skip this one…This is the haunting version that they’d only play at 4:30am…(This is NOT the with the music video with all of the strange acting “models”) ua-cam.com/video/vg38uRISNm8/v-deo.html OK, one more and then I must figure out this whole “channel” thing. Apparently, I showed up for THIS concert (meaning UA-cam) during INTERMISSION! haha I’ll catch up soon enough… The Shaker - Star (1997) ua-cam.com/video/Ty0o5oh-jo8/v-deo.html
This track sounds suspiciously like DJ The Crow - Silencer I (Extended Mix), which was released the same year as BBE's version! ua-cam.com/video/_vl_sBng-A4/v-deo.html
