- Most Stellarium users are fine with the default Landscape image especially if you have have a decent field of view, however, I happen to live in a heavily wooded area in southern Connecticut and have a limited field of view (Fig. 1 - video). Because of this, I don't have a lot of play time, therefore, it is important to know precisely how long the object will visible for so.

Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure!
Great post. I tried this a long time back though I was never satisfied with the results. Very helpful instructions and will give it another go since the view from my backyard is terrible and I've lost a lot of time trying to figure out if and when a target will come into view.
Also agree with your Astro shed comment, place it where it will get used. The simple fact is, I would image more if I didn't have to setup and teardown so much.
Thanks Gerry. Yeah exactly why I built it and use stellarium. I must image 4x as much and it is more enjoyable.
That's cool, Kurt. I should try this too.
Thanks Chuck. I think you have a pretty good FOV, maybe not though. - Cheers Kurt
Can you even use a camera in the daytime? Pretty sure the RASA won't cut it for this job
Informative video Kurt! I knew about the custom field of view in Stellarium. I just never seen a video on it. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks Mike!
Excellent video Captain Kurt!, I use Cartes Du Ciel,I couldn't get Stellarium to operate my mount ,I will give it another try and do the custom landscape, thank you for sharing your video.🖖
Thanks Tam. Cartes Du Ciel is a good program as well, I have used it a few times. I don't know if does custom landscapes though.

Very good info, Kurt! I'll have to give it a try at some point. Congrats on getting the images you do through the obstruction! Also, nice hoodie :)
Thank's Rob. The hoodie is actually warm...

Great Video Kurt. Is the altitude in meters?
I believe so
Hello. How do you make sure that the elevation of trees is correct ?
Checking it when the stars are out, very tedious.
Mate some how I like the line better because I can see what coming up maybe I should change my one to the line as well hmmmmmmmmm
Yeah, that is pretty much why I did it.
Chainsaw is your friend.........
You got that right.
M8 you don't have a problem just cut the tree's down lolololololol
I'd love to but my would loves all the trees. I can leave you my address and maybe you sabotage the trees...
