Great memories. The first season that I really followed intensely. Seeing the stage times, reading the news, searching for videos and watching the transmission on axn. Nice things to an adolescent do.
Mitsubishi are the best still rocking them in 2022 Hope they come back to the wrc Miss the old rally cars already Wrc has come a long way now and still the best type of racing
@@shadowlancerracing yeah but the reason why he was sacked because of grönholm in the team in 2006 but that's not the real reason. The real reason is because he's not performing against other drivers like loeb, solberg and grönholm consistently , he only up there 4 or 5 rallies of the 16 rallies. And the reason he had 4th in a championship. Because marko martin didn't compete the remaining rallies due the death of co driver Michael Park. If that tragedy in Wales didn't happen marko and Michael would have 4th in the championship. Plus a young finn mikko hirvonen was impressing in his private 2003 ford focus and he was up there with with loeb, solberg, grönholm and other guys , he won point was leading a rally back in Greece that season which gardemeister has never done that season and it was the first time a privateer lead a rally for awhile . He even beat gardemeister in finland when he was his teammate on 1 rally although due to the fact gardemeister had a puncture end day 2 . Hirvonen was even quick in the skoda back in Japan before his gearbox and off . And he had his first podium in spain which impress ford to resign him
4:08 They make a start order in first ever stage like from a Championship Standings in 2004. Sebastien Loeb. - Still in Citroën. Petter Solberg. - Still in Subaru. Markko Märtin. - Peugeot instead of Ford. Marcus Grönholm. - Still in Peugeot. François Duval. - Citroën instead of Ford. Harri Rovanperä. - Mitsubishi instead of Peugeot. Toni Gardemeister. - Ford instead of Skoda. Armin Schwarz. - Still in Skoda. AND Alex Bengue. - Skoda instead of Peugeot 206. No Carlos Sainz and Mikko Hirvonen in start.
I remember this was the year Speed stopped covering WRC in the US so I began buying home recorded rally highlight DVDs on ebay but the guy got shutdown about 4 rallies in. WRC did such a horrible job for US fans in the early 2000's

And so 17 years later Loeb is still latest winner of Monte Carlo, kudos!
You can experience WRC 2005 as game by playing
WRC:Rally Evolved (WRC 5) in PS2
The best WRC title game by far, very realistic and underrated.
@@IgorFonseca244 yeah is the best wrc game
I hope that the wrc games come back to be as good like the old times

What a Rally!
What a podium!
After 2004..Loeb's beginning.
Very nice video.
Gilles Panizzi's last ever podium for himself and his first ever for Mitsubishi.
This is the Mitsubishi teams first podium and Gilles panizzis last podium in the wrc
27:54 Stephane Prevot: FRANÇOIS!
It was the beginning of the end for their partnership. I wonder if they've spoken to each other since they parted ways.
1:11 Unfortunately no. 2005 wasn't competitive
Season dominated by Loeb :/

Puma

Markko Martin ran on Pirellis when he was with Ford in 2002.

They say the 307 is wider than the others but it's not true, they are all 1770 mm wide, the 307 is longer than the Xsara tho

@Damar Fadlan yup. these were the golden days of many manufacturers and the cars looking like their production version
Duval shouldn't never have left Ford... A 4 year contract instead of 1 year with Citroën...
Too bad this was the only year Gardemeister could show his talent in a potent car...
For real though. One of my favorite drivers. He actually had a very good season too finishing 4th
A great season in what was a bad year to be at Ford at the time. He is one of several drivers from this era who deserved better.

No Opel in Junior WRC anymore. Sometimes, I miss the Opel Corsa S1600 in Junior WRC.
