Here is what the press has to say about the album:
PRESS:
"sky-scrapingly great ... All Is Well is viscerally stunning, comforting, upsetting, entrancing; as long as he can make art like this, Amidon can skip the formality of 'writing songs' forever" -Stylus Magazine
"With All Is Well, Sam Amidon has crafted a precious gem of a record, all in nuances and shades, with delicate overtones and airy harmonies. Sigurðsson's production is light and subtle yet it gives these songs fantastic depth and contrast without ever overshadowing Amidon's delivery. " -The Milk Factory
"A soaring and beautiful butterfly of an album, rich with tuneful wonder and epic song craft." -MusiqueMachine.com
" A veritable classic, a standard for comparisons in this genre from now on. Not to be missed." -Touching Extremes
"a great leap forward... the trio of artists responsible for the record [...] create a very specific space with these arrangements... a very forward-thinking album... Amidon doesn't just update the old world to the new, but finds the roots of the new world in the old. - Pitchfork
"...something of a revelation. Amidon took a collection of traditional songs, wrote new arrangements and [...] turned them into a bedroom rock classic." -Dusted Magazine
I wish I was a poet
Could write in fine hand
I'd write my love a letter
One she'd long understand
I'd send it by the water
Where the islands overflow
And I'd think of pretty Saro
Wherever I go
words can't describe how beautiful this is. Makes my lifetime top five
Literally one of the sweetest, saddest songs I've ever heard
I came to this country
Eighteen and forty nine
I thought myself lucky
For to be alive
I looked all around me
No one could I see
That I could compare
With my pretty Saree
My students told me I would love UA-cam, and they were right. This is some great music, but do I ever hear any of it on radio? Or mainstream TV? This is the place for young spirits to congregate for all things fresh, beautiful, and funny. And some off-color stuff too. I could listen to this music over and over and over.
Just can't hold back the tears when I hear this.
what a discovery for me...a feeling like I get from Nick Drake and Paul Brady....and he's a fellow New England-born lad ...l-o-v-e love it
This is contemporary music with a window to the past. I really enjoyed it!
I watched this about a week ago for the first time, and the song has stayed with me since then. Lovely.
Really a wonderful video. Excellent idea and execution. Even though it was all archive you created a real time, place, more important, a real right emotion.
'Tis not this long journey
That grieves me for to go
Nor the country that I'm leaving
Nor the debts that I owe
There's one thing that grieves me
And bears on my mind
That's leaving my darling
Pretty Saro behind
Beautiful. Wonderful. Superb. Timeless. Hauntin'.

@JoelMatton :) I saw that one too, in Rönneholmsparken. My flat faces out in to the park, so it was quite a treat to stroll over in flip flops and listen to such a talent right on my doorstep. Only the weather was missing but perhaps the grey highlighted the poignancy of the sound. Lovely concert.
amazing
Great video.
Nice work!
Ah this song takes me back to some unforgettable times
looking forwqard to the weekend!

Just got into this artist then find out he's playing Bristol on the 19th and I just can't make it. Gaaaaargh! As song writers go, he's well up there.
WOOooooooooow
from which movie are the first scenes?
could anyone please explain to me, who or what this saro is? the song is haunting me, and now so is "saro"
For pad and rois who listened to this lovely song over tea...xxxx
Does anybody know the name of the movie at the beginning?
interesting sound this guy sam amidon has, kinda reminds me of coldplay mixed with some philip glass...really sounds like the kinda music that will grown on u the more u listen to it
Someone tell me Sam Amidon’s youtube channel.
piece ...
It's like a child's voice, yet the content is adult
I don't think this is 'obviously sentimental'. This song is so reminiscent of Classic Americana, that this video is exactly the medium this song requires.
FIRST. in months.
This isnt the officiel vid, right? I think its way to obviously sentimental. Whats great about about samamidon is that he has given these great songs a rebirth - and a relevance in this day and age. I think the music should be left standing on its own and not be forced into this sentimental settler setting.
Beautiful song, but the video always makes me a bit sad.
he's not really a song writer though; these are all old folk standards
