I spotted what I am positive was a golden eagle or Mexican eagle as we call it in California. It was at Fiesta Island in San Diego, can someone tell me if it was possible for it to be there? It was like 6:00 am dawn and it was standing on a hillside facing the water. It was huge! I would say about 3 to four feet in height and has a very dark chocolate brown feather coat. Til this day I wonder if it was indeed a Golden Eagle.... I didn’t take video or pic. But in San Diego ??? Is it possible.

@Roc Super don't believe the hipe!!! It can't fly at 200mph. it also can't fly up to 30,000 ft. It also does see 6 times better than a man. they can dive up to 200 but not fly. they can only reach slightly above 10,000 ft and can only see 5 times better than a man

I live in Winter Garden, FL where bald eagles are seen regularly. Most of them nest near farm areas. I photographed 1 about a month ago at a park along Lake Apopka (4th largest lake in FL). There's a well known bald eagle nest near Kennedy Space Center that dates back nearly at least 40 yrs & still used today. It even withstood the brunt of Hurricane Irma in 2017.

More than once I have seen Bald Eagles on road kill keeping Vultures at bay until they had their fill. One time fishing on a nearby lake I watched 2 immature Bald Eagles harassing an Osprey until it dropped the fish it had just caught. You could almost hear them laughing like a couple ornery teenagers as they flew off.
The story of how after 40 years eagles break their beak sounds fantastic. A nice fantasy i never heard this way about the Fenix. Btw...you have taken here quite some shots of birds of prey that are much smaller and do not belong to the eagles genus at all.

Their beaks and talons are keratin, like our fingernails. They grow continuously and replace the worn edges of both. Feather replacement is also a constant process. Robert Northrup I have seen that also. Lake Sebasticook in Newport Maine. Only it was One eagle taking the fish from the osprey.
