I have a dark theory that Ken is actually some kind of spirit who is able to communicate with Gene through various objects, and he subconsciously knows this.
I'm 100% stealing this theory from someone else but what if Gene came up with Ken by watching Linda talk with Ginger on the phone all the time without ever seeing her.
You see Ginger's back in "Sliding Bobs" when they flash back to Bob and Linda meeting. She's sitting at the table with Linda at the bar when Linda's ring gets stuck in Bob's mustache.
@@FrenkTheJoy My point is just because we don't see some characters doesn't mean the family doesn't. We've only seen Principal Spoors once but the kids obviously see him all the time.
I like the way Gene has clearly inherited the "talking to imaginary friends/inanimate objects" thing from his father, but Bob still gets annoyed/weirded out when he does it. Also they way he made Ken "hang up" is also something Bob would do, since he always makes his food/kitchen utensils disagree with him to make his life harder for no clear reason Lol...
I'd like to say this is more of Gene taking after Linda since she's always on the phone talking to her best friend Ginger who we've never seen. Meanwhile I'd say Louise who takes more after Bob imo, is out here making actual inanimate things talk in the exact same voice as Bob. For example she plays "Food Court" with Gene at lunch, talks to Kuchi Kopie, makes the chocolate she steals from the Wine Train talk, cheers up Regular-sized Rudy with a stapler puppet, etc.
@@MagicalGirlContractor maybe its both :) while linda loves gene a lot and dotes on him he would clearly inherit the ginger talk from her but gene with bob, even young bob looked like gene, i think bob is “annoyed” at ken because looking at gene reminds him of himself when his imagination was wild as a kid and he kinda lost that when he got older but gene still clearly hasnt

I actually really miss the old episodes. Newer seasons aren’t the same but that’s to be expected with long running series. It’s still entertaining though.
What if Ken is actually real and the only reason Gene is using the salad tongs to "talk to Ken" is because Ken is still in Norway and since the Belchers can't afford long distance calls, Gene has to imagine what Ken would say to him.
Right? Most people have imagined conversations with people, especially if they're alone and have no one to talk to. I have severe anxiety and rarely get to spend time with people, so there are times when I practice what I will say to someone the next time I see them, or to simply feel less alone.
Gene would find a way to make the call, but if Ken is hiking fjords, then he is probably not carrying his iphone 15. You need a clear mind for that. It is more likely that during his hike, Ken found a suitable place to meditate, and contacted him via the omnipresent aetheric akasha communication network.
I really wanted Ken to be real, just show up in one episode, and prove the rest of the family wrong. I think it would have been hilarious, it's a shame that the show confirmed he is imaginary. Proving that Ken's not real is like Gene's version of showing Louise without her hat on, it would be devastating.
He is better off being imaginary because he was real he would be a creep. He would have to explain why a 28 year old man is hanging out with a 12 year old boy
