  • Well… this was originally meant to be a “how to” video, but as you will see… I wouldn’t recommend doing it this way.

Does this mean it was your fault? 🤯

Another amazing axe for your collection. Really loved the detailed walkthrough, pretty sure I'll skip the optional step of a self inflicted injury to the eye. Glad you're ok though and that it isn't any long term damage, hopefully.

They don't seem to think there will be. I've just been given some prophylactic antibiotics, and been told to wait and see basically. But thanks! :)

I was going to comment something along the lines of beautiful videography but ouch....I hope that eye eventually gets a full recovery. Never seen an etch that deep, Amazing, something I want to get into one day for my saw blades. I will check out your channel for other vids on this.

Cheers Mathew! Eye is back to 100% of it's normal rubbish vision. 😅
      Good luck with your etching!

If I had a mailing address, I'd send you some swimming goggles for next time 😆
I couldn't really tell what the stone tumbler did, looked like it just scratched the hell out of it?
Maybe I need to rewatch on a bigger screen

Basically yeah. It scratches off bits of the darkened finish, causing it to turn a kind of matt grey. But it creates a very hardwaring finish for axes/knives, and looks fancy. :)

OH! So sorry about your eye! That has to sting a little. I sincerely hope that your recovery is going well. Very nice job on your project!

That looks awesome. Great idea to do a stone washed finish. Did you have to re grind the edge afterwards?
Fingers crossed there’s no lasting damage to your eye.

Eye seems to be healing well thanks!
And yeah, I sharpened the edges after the wash. Obviously churning it in rocks would dull any edge that was applied before, so there's no point until after it's ready.

Lovely double bit, but it was really hectic to watch the video when I knew you were gonna hurt yourself, but not when. Hope you are feeling better! You gonna upgrade to Cthulhu style safety glasses?

@@PJTForging Goggles, breather, beard, hair and dirt - the five components to Mike's look (in the face region). You can emulate one of them and be fine, but more than that it's plagiarism. Choose wisely... 😁
