My good friend has just been diagnosed today. She’s been fighting for over a year and a half to find out what was wrong with her. I watched her deteriorate and our boss treats her like she’s lying about her symptoms. I am crying for my friend. She’s gone through so much and I just love her so much.
Deteriorate is the perfect term for it. In the midst of being diagnosed myself, the insanity my worsening symptoms caused costed me close friends, my job, and almost my life. The whole time my personal thought was that I am wasting away and there's nothing I can do to stop it or even convince others any of this is real. They assumed my cheeks where blushing from social anxiety/intimate attraction. They assumed I was being lazy and that I was ungrateful for their help. A huge fight broke out and I found myself passed around houses like an unwanted gift until finally getting my diagnosis. Now I've got my younger brother and sister to thank for even having a roof over my head as I was even briefly just outright homeless. Financially and physically I am in ruin. My brother is struggling to get a car/job as we speak and even had to extend our rent payment 2 weeks just to buy time as of yesterday. It is a hard road for most to walk for anyone. And more than anything it just deteriorates you in mind body and soul. The best you can do is offer support, words of encouragement, affirmation goes a long way for us. A bad day/mood is a mild inconvenience to others, but for a lupus patient? Those things make our body literally fight itself. Often in the form of swelling in the brain called "lupus ceribritis". I hear you..before I was diagnosed I had told my brother about having joint problems (pain and swelling in the elbows and hands) and he said it was in my head, now mind you I was 16 at the time so it was unusual for me. A few months later I was diagnosed with Lupus.
Well I'm still without diagnosis years into this hell.. I'm not saying I've got lupus but some autoimmune disorder I'd bet: Inflammation in the eyes, throat, lungs.. they're all of allergic kind.. arrhythmia, skin issues, lost libido, problems sleeping, joint and back pain - brain fog/ bad memory, tiredness and mood swings. And oftentimes I can look quite healthy.. so the less I talk about it to anyone else but my doctor the better I've found out.. people try to solve it, they give me bad advice.. they doubt me.. they treat me like a healthy person. Oftentimes the best thing is to be by myself.. moderately sociable when feeling better. Now if I don't get a diagnosis I'll probably end unemployed.. not great but working while sick is torture 🤷🏼♂️✌🏼
I’m in the process of being diagnosed with Lupus. All of my tests come back normal but I feel far from normal. I just seen a rheumatologist who believes I have lupus without a doubt and are being tested for it now. Doctors say I am suffer from lupus and I have all of its symptoms, but so far they have not diagnosed me and I am afraid of complications or misdiagnosis.
@jalisabrooks2376 I found out by going to a dermatologist for the face rash. They did a skin biopsy and told me it was it. Doctors always said I didn't have it because my rash wasn't the typical butterfly rash. At first it looked like a rash someone with glasses get when it's hot and their glasses rub on their nose. Then it got worse on one side and kind of spread to my cheekbone on the right side of my face and on both sides of my nose. If you have a rash of any kind, go to a dermatologist. They'll tell you, but really you're right where you need to be since those doctors specialize in diseases like Lupus.

Some doctors make you feel like you're just a patient, a dollar sign, and someone to be forgotten as soon as they leave your room. That's not a good feeling to have when seeing your doctor. I think it's important to feel like your doctor empathizes with you.

I was diagnosed with Lupus since 2009 right before my last semester. Unfortunately, I was not able to take my last finance major because I had a seizure the day before. I remember I ended up on the floor surrounded by paramedics and my family. I had since suffered so much after - in and out of hospitals, doctors appointments, missed major events, had to quit my job because I was taking leave most of the time due to my lupus flare. As I typed this comment, my kidney function is currently at Stage 4 and I've been crying almost everyday but trying my best to do whats best for my body, mind and soul. I dont want my kidneys to fail or be on dialysis or even need a transplant. This scares me so much and it pains me to know that it can ultimately/drastically change the course of my life forever. Its scary to think Lupus can cause serious issues with your internal organs. Best of luck to anyone suffering the same as well. I only pray that you get better ans have a good support from your family and friends because they do make it easier for you even though you are going through a tough time. ❤

Sigh, since quarantine and the loss of my job. I haven't been able to get my regular injections and boom I got way more bald spots than before. My joints have now joined the mix (wake up an I literally don't wanna move cause pain) an I just feel down and miserable the whole day. Some people are like -- ahhh come you'll be fine. Um no, thanks for the mental support but if only you could feel what I'm feeling and know this isn't a game. Also it's very expensive to maintain lupus. Which is another thing. In 1963 when I was 14, I got the sensation of one leg being huge & the other leg being teeny tiny after coming out of convulsions, now called something else, but for a long time called Grandmall seizures, while having Shingles on the left side of my back. I was already in trouble "for being sick" so I didn't tell anybody about my weird sensations. When I was 19 after having my first baby it happened again, although it wasn't my legs it was just weird sensations all over my body. I was 50 before I was diagnosed. When I was 27, exactly half of my body, my left side, was numb & tingly for months. When I was 39 I didn't have the sensation of having the need to have a BM for almost 10 months. Feeling like things are plastic on my body yet they look & move normally. I've had the butterfly rash as a preteen even. Because I eat a very clean diet without processed food I only get the butterfly rash now if I've been in the sun too long or if I'm under high stress. I'm typically guessed to be at least 10 years younger than my actual age & people tell me that I look so healthy. Fatigue is my biggest problem now. What we eat makes a huge difference & I absolutely do NOT follow what the Lupus Foundation says as far as food. I'm not underweight or overweight & I've never taken any of the drugs for it. ☮️💞🙏

I would be curious to know how many women diagnosed with this were on birth control pills for a long amount of time. I’ve been on birth control for over a decade, was told there are no side effects. It has been pushed on me my whole life from different doctors and even my family. I just don’t think it’s a coincidence that 90% of people diagnosed with lupus are women between 15 and 45….. obviously I could be wrong but would really like to know.

I am 14 years old and got diagnosed with lupus recently. My hair falls out I have this rash on my face. I constantly take medicine for my hair and bones. It is very draining but i try to put on a tough face. I can have very bad flare ups which makes my hair fall out more and my rash spread across my face. I constantly get asked what I got the rashes from and I just say it's a long story.
Awe..i'm.70 and was diagnosed last year with it....pretty shocking...i have skin lupus so must stay out of thé sun...rash mostly on arms and chest....i'm starting a good probiotic to see if that will help.... Sorry you have this but stay away from.all sugars...
@Emma Barrett yes my doctor did take biopsies...she is a dermatologist...but now she prescribed hydroxyquine. But i haven't taken any until i talk to.my eye doctor as I've had a detached retina..i do eat healthy and exercise. Thanks

I was just diagnosed and am looking for more information so I checked this video out. No offense, but it was not helpful at all. It’s just a bunch of people saying analogies for things without actually explaining why it affects them or what it does. I could use some more insight.
My skin has holes eaten in it, I swore I had scabies, mold, fungus, blood disease and all kinds of theories. I also have bouts where my joints flare up and I can barely move. It causes severe inflammation from my core all the way out to the top layer of my skin and everything chokes itself from being swollen with inflammation. Hot showers and icy hot along with good soaps are the only relief I can find but most times it's unbearable. I'm under the impression Lupus is one of those blanket terms they assign when you're body is flipping out on itself and they don't know why so they pick a name to stick on it. Only one of the many medications they've prescribed is worth having so far. Sometimes I go back and revisit things I've been prescribed in the past just to see if maybe I just didn't notice it working the first time around. @jmeyers88 it's certainly effected mine. I just found out but I think I've had it for years already. Once I get the diet down, I think I'll be doing better. At least I hope so. I had a bacterial infection about a month ago and I feel like I really went downhill.
I had symptoms less than a year ago of extreme pain and fatigue. My doctor advised me to get tested for lupus. They took my blood samples but I tested negative. I'm not sure what I have. Doctors are just as confused as me. It's not arthritis, osteoporosis, lupus or any thing else I can think of but my joints burn everyday, my blood pressure is always below 90/60, I always feel slightly feverish and my body feels heavy and swollen, I'm extremely fatigued and face mental fog, random memory loss and occasional black outs too. My brain CT scan and joint xrays show everything is normal. Please pray for me.
Those are the exact same symptoms of lupus. They said there is no specific test for it to find out if you have it for sure which is why your blood test probably came back negative, it’s not always right. I think you should look for second opinions and maybe a rheumatoid specialist. You got this! Praying you find the right diagnosis!
Get your ferritin levels checked. You might have a condition that stores too much ferritin/iron that cause these symptoms. The is a blood test that checks ferritin and another that checks for condition that causes this. Good luck 🙏.

I’m 30, diagnosed at 28 (1:2560 ana) and it was the best day of my life ; finally having an answer to the chaos was life changing. From what I’ve seen refusing medication (methotrexate) was the best decision I could have made. Diet, exercise, kratom, and marijuana keep my symptoms in check and knowing now to avoid alfalfa and its family has helped me avoid truly soul crushing days.

Alcohol is the absolute worst thing you can possibly do as it interferes with literally every system in your body especially your brain which is why it’s the most addictive drug known to humans. 2. Hi so I’m discovering this video at a time when I really need support. I am daughter of a Mommy that lives with Lupus. I live in NY and she lives in SC she’s a retired officer. And though my grandmother lives with her she does not give my Mom the support she needs. For example if my Mom gets sick and needs to go to the hospital she will not take her. She also watches my two year old niece while my sister is away in school. My sister and I need more support in order to help our Mom. She cannot live alone and so we agreed that she should move with my sister since she watches her child. Go see a RHEUMATOLOGIST.. Ask for a ANA panel blood tests.. That's how they found mine.. If test is positive further tests are needed... ACTUALLY my neurologist was suspicious bc of my symptoms and that's how it all started..I also have severe spinal stenosis, severe nerve damage in arms and legs. Deteriorate is the perfect term for it. In the midst of being diagnosed myself, the insanity my worsening symptoms caused costed me close friends, my job, and almost my life. The whole time my personal thought was that I am wasting away and there's nothing I can do to stop it or even convince others any of this is real. They assumed my cheeks where blushing from social anxiety/intimate attraction. They assumed I was being lazy and that I was ungrateful for their help. A huge fight broke out and I found myself passed around houses like an unwanted gift until finally getting my diagnosis. Now I've got my younger brother and sister to thank for even having a roof over my head as I was even briefly just outright homeless. Financially and physically I am in ruin. My brother is struggling to get a car/job as we speak and even had to extend our rent payment 2 weeks just to buy time as of yesterday. It is a hard road for most to walk for anyone. And more than anything it just deteriorates you in mind body and soul. The best you can do is offer support, words of encouragement, affirmation goes a long way for us. A bad day/mood is a mild inconvenience to others, but for a lupus patient? Those things make our body literally fight itself. Often in the form of swelling in the brain called "lupus ceribritis". The thing that makes any illness worse, is when people treat you like you are lying, lazy, or selfish because you don't LOOK sick or handicapped.
I hear you..before I was diagnosed I had told my brother about having joint problems (pain and swelling in the elbows and hands) and he said it was in my head, now mind you I was 16 at the time so it was unusual for me. A few months later I was diagnosed with Lupus.
Well I'm still without diagnosis years into this hell.. I'm not saying I've got lupus but some autoimmune disorder I'd bet:
Inflammation in the eyes, throat, lungs.. they're all of allergic kind.. arrhythmia, skin issues, lost libido, problems sleeping, joint and back pain - brain fog/ bad memory, tiredness and mood swings.
And oftentimes I can look quite healthy.. so the less I talk about it to anyone else but my doctor the better I've found out.. people try to solve it, they give me bad advice.. they doubt me.. they treat me like a healthy person.
Oftentimes the best thing is to be by myself.. moderately sociable when feeling better.
Now if I don't get a diagnosis I'll probably end unemployed.. not great but working while sick is torture 🤷🏼♂️✌🏼

Doctors say I am suffer from lupus and I have all of its symptoms, but so far they have not diagnosed me and I am afraid of complications or misdiagnosis.
@jalisabrooks2376 I found out by going to a dermatologist for the face rash. They did a skin biopsy and told me it was it. Doctors always said I didn't have it because my rash wasn't the typical butterfly rash. At first it looked like a rash someone with glasses get when it's hot and their glasses rub on their nose. Then it got worse on one side and kind of spread to my cheekbone on the right side of my face and on both sides of my nose. If you have a rash of any kind, go to a dermatologist. They'll tell you, but really you're right where you need to be since those doctors specialize in diseases like Lupus.

Some doctors make you feel like you're just a patient, a dollar sign, and someone to be forgotten as soon as they leave your room. That's not a good feeling to have when seeing your doctor. I think it's important to feel like your doctor empathizes with you.

I was diagnosed with Lupus since 2009 right before my last semester. Unfortunately, I was not able to take my last finance major because I had a seizure the day before.
I remember I ended up on the floor surrounded by paramedics and my family. I had since suffered so much after - in and out of hospitals, doctors appointments, missed major events, had to quit my job because I was taking leave most of the time due to my lupus flare.
As I typed this comment, my kidney function is currently at Stage 4 and I've been crying almost everyday but trying my best to do whats best for my body, mind and soul. I dont want my kidneys to fail or be on dialysis or even need a transplant.
This scares me so much and it pains me to know that it can ultimately/drastically change the course of my life forever. Its scary to think Lupus can cause serious issues with your internal organs.
Best of luck to anyone suffering the same as well. I only pray that you get better ans have a good support from your family and friends because they do make it easier for you even though you are going through a tough time. ❤

In 1963 when I was 14, I got the sensation of one leg being huge & the other leg being teeny tiny after coming out of convulsions, now called something else, but for a long time called Grandmall seizures, while having Shingles on the left side of my back. I was already in trouble "for being sick" so I didn't tell anybody about my weird sensations. When I was 19 after having my first baby it happened again, although it wasn't my legs it was just weird sensations all over my body. I was 50 before I was diagnosed. When I was 27, exactly half of my body, my left side, was numb & tingly for months. When I was 39 I didn't have the sensation of having the need to have a BM for almost 10 months. Feeling like things are plastic on my body yet they look & move normally. I've had the butterfly rash as a preteen even. Because I eat a very clean diet without processed food I only get the butterfly rash now if I've been in the sun too long or if I'm under high stress. I'm typically guessed to be at least 10 years younger than my actual age & people tell me that I look so healthy. Fatigue is my biggest problem now. What we eat makes a huge difference & I absolutely do NOT follow what the Lupus Foundation says as far as food. I'm not underweight or overweight & I've never taken any of the drugs for it. ☮️💞🙏

I would be curious to know how many women diagnosed with this were on birth control pills for a long amount of time. I’ve been on birth control for over a decade, was told there are no side effects. It has been pushed on me my whole life from different doctors and even my family. I just don’t think it’s a coincidence that 90% of people diagnosed with lupus are women between 15 and 45….. obviously I could be wrong but would really like to know.

It is very draining but i try to put on a tough face. I can have very bad flare ups which makes my hair fall out more and my rash spread across my face. I was just diagnosed and am looking for more information so I checked this video out. No offense, but it was not helpful at all. It’s just a bunch of people saying analogies for things without actually explaining why it affects them or what it does. I could use some more insight.
My skin has holes eaten in it, I swore I had scabies, mold, fungus, blood disease and all kinds of theories. I also have bouts where my joints flare up and I can barely move. It causes severe inflammation from my core all the way out to the top layer of my skin and everything chokes itself from being swollen with inflammation. Hot showers and icy hot along with good soaps are the only relief I can find but most times it's unbearable. I'm under the impression Lupus is one of those blanket terms they assign when you're body is flipping out on itself and they don't know why so they pick a name to stick on it. Only one of the many medications they've prescribed is worth having so far. Sometimes I go back and revisit things I've been prescribed in the past just to see if maybe I just didn't notice it working the first time around. I had symptoms less than a year ago of extreme pain and fatigue. My doctor advised me to get tested for lupus. They took my blood samples but I tested negative.
I'm not sure what I have. Doctors are just as confused as me. It's not arthritis, osteoporosis, lupus or any thing else I can think of but my joints burn everyday, my blood pressure is always below 90/60, I always feel slightly feverish and my body feels heavy and swollen, I'm extremely fatigued and face mental fog, random memory loss and occasional black outs too. My brain CT scan and joint xrays show everything is normal. Please pray for me.
Those are the exact same symptoms of lupus. They said there is no specific test for it to find out if you have it for sure which is why your blood test probably came back negative, it’s not always right. I think you should look for second opinions and maybe a rheumatoid specialist. You got this! Praying you find the right diagnosis!

Get your ferritin levels checked. You might have a condition that stores too much ferritin/iron that cause these symptoms. The is a blood test that checks ferritin and another that checks for condition that causes this. Good luck 🙏.

1. Alcohol is the absolute worst thing you can possibly do as it interferes with literally every system in your body especially your brain which is why it’s the most addictive drug known to humans.
2. Apples reduce inflammation to your skin, blueberries reduce inflammation to your heart along with ginger, cinnamon, garlic, and onions.
3. Marijuana/cannabis reduces inflammation to your entire body which is no surprise why black people (I’m a half breed) proportionally use it more as they have higher incidences of inflammation problems and undiagnosed autoimmune diseases. Also goes to show why it was illegal for so long and still carries stigma.
4. If your job drug tests you can try kratom however it’s in a weird gray whale area right now. The only way I can describe kratom is by comparing it to whale classifications. All whales are in 2 camps: Toothed or baleen/filter feeders except grey whales. They have both and neither and can filter feed krill or eat crabs and squids. So they are in the own category completely by themselves.
Kratom is in a similar boat because it’s an opioid but unlike literally every other opioid it doesn’t react to your opioid receptors like OxyContin, fentanyl, and heroin do. So you can’t overdose on it the same way. From what I’ve gathered of the political quagmire surrounding kratom is that despite it being used for thousands of years ,governments want it illegal because people use it to get off harder drugs (like methotrexate) because it reduces inflammation among other effects. So far every negative story I’ve ever heard about kratom was from someone combining it with other drugs. Like cannabis it has different strains(they use colors) . Red to me feels very similar to indica and helps me sleep. In my case it’s been nice because theirs been zero cravings. I just use it when I want to sleep or have a bad symptom day then won’t need any more for 3-7 days.
5. Saunas, diet, exercise, fasting: Blood is how your body transports cells throughout your body. Anything that can get your heart rate up is going to reduce inflammation. Fasting works in the opposite way in that it triggers your clean up system and has your healthy cells eat your bad cells. The problem is if you eat all the time like corporations want you to your body never has a moment to relax so you never get a clean up which contributes to inflammation. It might be difficult to start by try to get close to only eating once a day. It doesn’t matter what to start with just reducing your frequency will have drastic changes. I highly recommend Dr. Rhoda Patrick, she’s been on Joe Rogan 10 times and has lots of videos on the benefits of fasting and saunas.

Hi so I’m discovering this video at a time when I really need support. I am daughter of a Mommy that lives with Lupus. I live in NY and she lives in SC she’s a retired officer. And though my grandmother lives with her she does not give my Mom the support she needs. For example if my Mom gets sick and needs to go to the hospital she will not take her. She also watches my two year old niece while my sister is away in school. My sister and I need more support in order to help our Mom. She cannot live alone and so we agreed that she should move with my sister since she watches her child. However my Mom has seizures so we’re afraid that while my sister is at work or school she could be watching my niece and suddenly have a seizure. My family isn’t supportive and my Mom’s health is getting worse. If you all could offer advice, resources, anything that can help I would appreciate. Are there any lupus diagnosed warriors out there who saw a significant gain in wait vs loss of was without the butterfly rash? this is the only things i dont have. I'm at my wits end and feeling horribly hopeless. Doctors keep saying its anxiety. I know anxiety! I dont know what to do, on friday i was given a 'Tramacet' to try for pain. 2 tramacet 4 x a day.... by the time i got home i was vomiting, shaking and getting tunnel vision from the pain..... i might as well have taken nothing! I feel so goddamn unheard and unseen. How can living like this POSSIBLY be normal. ANY advice wellcome. (on year 8 of my medical journey with no answers)
Go see a RHEUMATOLOGIST.. Ask for a ANA panel blood tests.. That's how they found mine.. If test is positive further tests are needed... ACTUALLY my neurologist was suspicious bc of my symptoms and that's how it all started..I also have severe spinal stenosis, severe nerve damage in arms and legs. Im a MESS and don't know where to begin😔Also have congenital bilateral hip dysplasia.. Im 57 and diagnosed late in life.. Good luck❤️
Please check with more natural holistic or functionalist doctors. Autoimmune is related to gut and digestive issues. Doctors of medicine are not required to study nutrition and chemicals needed for body functions.

Research lupus because daughter in law says she has it and that its no big deal that she can control it by diet, I've known people with lupus and this was a first to me that its no big deal and it can be controlled by diet, wish my son would of been with her when she was diagnosed because I'm having a problem with it.

Hi generally the weight limit for horse riding is 13 stone but it can vary a little depending on where you go.

I'm borderline lupus. My numbers are just right at the border. My doctor can't say yes or no I have it yet cause I don't have some of the signs like a rash. I'm getting tested again in 6 months.

I’m 16 years old I went to the doctor and told him my symptoms. I said every time I wake up my hands are stiff and it hurts every time I try to move them . My back hurts my shoulders,feet,knees and my wrist.The doctor told me it could be arthritis. I’ve had this for almost 3 months already the pain got worse and so did the stiffness on my body. My hands haven’t deformed but it was just the pain that escalated. I tell my family my pain but they don’t understand me when I try to do things and i can’t they question me “ why couldn’t you it’s not that hard?” but for me it is so they kind of don’t, believe me, .makes me feel really alone makes me not want to exist anymore. I just want help, please help me, please.
