When I first started with paper crafting, I used newspaper, magazine, used cards, bingo dabbers. Bingo dabbers have a lot of ink & colours & they are inexpensive from bingo or dollar stores. Black coffee or tea make great dyes use cloth or paper for a paint brush to change your paper. Trash from the mail envelope cover all bits & pieces you find around the house. No cutter use a ruler to cut down with or tear around the image you want. Have fun.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! This last Sunday I got out my new set of circle punches I got for Christmas and took out my scraps and made different sized circles. They came out fantastic! Clusters of flowers in circles and different color flowers. And other background pages that I can put a focal points in… I just had so much fun! Thank you for this it gives me more ideas and motivation!❤

When I started scrapping 30 years ago, I bought a set of decorative edge scissors, 8 1/2 X 11 patterned paper and solid. I didn't graduate to 12 X 12 for several years. LOL. Def start small and grow your supplies, one at a time, when you can.

When I first started, I had a pair of scissors, glue stick, ruler, and I swiped some pages from my kids' coloring books and lined paper. I collected magazines, junk mail, and whatever I could find to cut out. Fast forward many years, and I have pretty much everything you need to paper crafts. You just have to use your imagination. Have a Blessed Day ! 🙂❤️

These ideas are wonderful. I don’t have a home computer or laptop or a printer, so I can’t download or purchase digitals to use for embellishments. If I can make mine from papers on hand, book pages and some stamping that is great. Also keeps the hobby budget affordable. Thanks again for the ideas.

What a wonderful video for newcomers. Even though I now probably have a lot of tools, papers, gadgets, I didn't start that way. As many comments below, ruler, scissors, glue is all you need. Find magazines, newspapers, thrift stores, flea markets. I recently got a big seed catalog and it was in black and white very vintage looking. Definitely going to be using it. And for a store, your store is wonderful. The best in my book. Very fast shipping and great prices. Thank you for sharing your inspirations and creativity with us.!

Melina, I love all these suggestions! You may have mentioned this but one of my suggestions as always, just take your time, go slow, That makes it a lot easier to leave that small white space around what you’re cutting out. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Lots of great ideas that are easy and cheap to make. Not many supplies or tools needed. Especially good video for beginners. I'm going to watch it again and make all you did in this video. Really enjoyed this video. And also learned a lot!! TFS. Austin TX USA

Thanks Melina! I started with a magazine, scissors, glue stick and regular printing paper. That did it to start a great adventure... With time, I got this and that. stacking boxes and papers, went to flee markets and Dollar stores! You start to look at things on a real different way before throwing anything in the garbage. With videos, you get ideas that are great and you can adjust for your FUN!!!

Other ideas: the tourist info racks in local businesses. Free. I scored the gallery guide for this year and have been fussy cutting ever since.
And somewhere on line someone said books of word search puzzles. Cut words from the clues and glue it to a scrap, or whatever. If you do the puzzles, though, don't mark out the ones you find!
    Thanks for the new ideas!

This is such a great, informative video! I started fussy cutting when I saw one of your videos, and I thought I wouldn't like it. But I LOVE fussy cutting! I have bad anxiety and find that fussy cutting helps me when the anxiety is acting up. I keep patterned paper and scissors in a little bag in the car so that I will have it when I am away from home and need something to focus on. It's like medicine but better! 😆 Thank you! 😊 ❤️

I really try to be patient when fussy cutting just the large ones, I started buying everything wished you had been around in 98 I think that was the year I started. Didn’t know what I doing making journals everything was large lol. Anyway love all your pieces you shared. Is it better to use the TH scissors or what I already have which are 7 3/4 long.? Hey Melina, I've watched you before and I've seen your mother many times but I must have missed something. What is a docket? Is that scrapbook terminology? It's not junk journal terminology. At first I thought it might be the same as a base but then you made the little label with the butterfly and called it a docket. Next you fussy cut the flower and called it a docket, is a docket the same as an embellishment? I think your ideas were great, made a lot of sense to help a beginner see what they can make with just a few tools and a couple of pieces of scrapbook paper. Or magazine pages or book pages. Gardening books are a treasure trove of plants, birds, butterflies, script and more!
