I am amazed what a beautiful reason she had to become a known artist. In the new version of little women Beth says to Jo "marmee says, do it for others" and I only can agree. How much joy anything you create gives you, the joy doubles when other people enjoy it too. The greatest gifts and skills are those that can be used for making other people happy.
So already her mother was feeling what we feel when Aurora sings, and her heart was generous enough to know if it felt like medicine for her, it would be so for other people. I don’t know how many times people have tried to explain how Aurora makes them feel, and people have mentioned different emotions, but what we all have in common is that we just cannot describe what it is that makes her music feel the way it does. All I know is I put her music on when I’m ready for bed, and I never get beyond the third song. I’m out. It’s like a great big dose of mellowness that relaxes yet revives me. All I know is I have a good night sleep and I always listen to Aurora throughout the day as I’m not only enjoying her but it keeps me in that “zone”. But “medicine” does come close. Medicine is suppose to heal, to make you feel better. However Aurora’s music is “medicine” to you, I think it is just the appropriate word for what it does for whoever is in need of it.

Back in 2016, her music helped me through a rough patch, and i decided to buy a ticket to one of her concerts; when i read this factoid on the venue's 'about the artist' page, i started crying - just absolutely bawling. I love her mom for that so much. I'm so glad to hear her talk about this herself, just to confirm that it wasn't some quote that a reporter blew out of proportion or etc. Thank you very much for reuploading this from instagram or whatever, haha. or else i would never have seen it! :D Honestly though, not long after i found her music, life hit me with a triple-whammy of positive personal events which all hit very close to my heart - all coincidences of course, unrelated to one another or to her, but 'being more open to emotion' (after binge-listening to her music) probably helped to push me in a couple of those good directions. Within a few weeks, my hardened emotional shell began to melt away, 'the big thing' happened (too personal to share here), and my constant and chronic panic attacks went away pretty much overnight. Even though her music was only a single part of my 'mental health transformation', to this day whenever the chronic anxiety starts to settle back in, i'll throw on basically ANY of her albums (especially #1 tho) and it's like an emotional anchor back to the exact point in my life where everything started getting better. Combine all of that with the emotions in her music, plus her amazing voice, and, yeah, i hope she keeps making music forever. 'The woman I am' is my favorite song of hers, even as a cishet single dude, because she sings it like she's in the right mindset to... well, to keep making music forever. And that makes me happy. 'Little boy in the grass' is my second-favorite, because 'finally i am over it all'. She's said this before, and better than i can, but it's funny how we can take such different meanings from music than what the artist had originally intended; she wrote that last song about an extremely sad topic in her own life, but it's one of the happiest and most powerful songs ever to my own inner child. I don't know who I'm writing this for, idk who I think will read all of that. But, you're not alone? Life is rough. It usually gets better. 'You're caught in wire and soon it will burst - you can cry!'
