Honestly, while this game did suck, it kind of impresses me at the same time with some of it's aspects. This games lays the groundwork and shows some interesting concepts of what a good Superman game could be like.
I always doubted if a good Superman game could be made, but seeing this shows me how it would kinda work. Now hear me out... Traversing the city, I thought, would be a nightmare as Superman would be flying way too fast to control and also there'd be pretty bad pop in, but actually seeing this flying makes me think otherwise. Only fear now is combat - Put batman in a room full of guys with fists, crowbars, tasers, shields, knives, etc... And you get fast paced fighting with freeflow combat. Put batman in a room full of guys with guns and the dynamic changes, he's not bulletproof so he has to use stealth. Superman in either of those situations? Fly really fast and knock everyone out. Doesn't need to worry. This leads to developers either incorporating kryptonite into every thug or having giant robots be the enemy. Neither is really satisfying from a game perspective. Superman would work more like the batmobile in arkham knight - He can chase things and use his abilities to interact with the environment EG Flying towards and catching a falling building, or putting a fire out with his breath... Not really satisfying. How do you make the player feel empowered without making them OP? And how do you give them a challenge that doesn't feel cheap? I personally feels the answer lies in having an army of kryptonians come to earth to fight. Like man of steel, but with more soldiers. The lieutenants can be bosses and they can all have different powers. Zod can be the final boss with all the powers from every boss and even more. As for the actual fighting, combat, Superman can use his famous powers after building up a big enough combo, like with the arkham games. Imagine the freeflow combat of the batman games becoming even more free-er when you take to the skies? You go from punch one soldier to the other, then you take the third and slam him into the ground which gives you enough of a combo to use your heat vision to take out an enemy. Or maybe you use your freeze breath to encase an enemy in ice and watch them fall from the skies and crash on the floor. The possibilities are endless with his powers. So there you go - Traversal is possible, combat is possible, and you can interact with the environment with your powers. But is that enough to carry a game? Superman has always been more about character and plot than action. For budgetary reasons mainly. Maybe we could also introduce a Walking Dead style feature where you interact with people. Imagine going to see the Kents back in Smallville, your co-workers in The Daily Planet, Jor El in the Fortress of Solitude, and maybe some scenes towards the end with Lex Luthor? These parts of the game can be played as Clark Kent to vary the game up. It would make playing as Superman really special as it would happen half in half. The moment you felt you were getting bored being Clark Kent, you can go back to being Superman. Moment you felt bored with that you can go back to Clark. I feel this is the best chance we have at getting a really good Superman game. Guys, I don't to sound cocky, but I think we've cracked it.

Bonus points for Luthor initially starting off as his own agent trying to acquire the key but eventually willingly being a pawn for Mongul and having the final boss start off with Superman making a Star Wars-esque suicide run on the War World and getting into a complex, one on one fight with Mongul in the control chamber with a timer before the War World can destroy all life on earth. Extra bonus points for including Bruno Manheim and his Apokalips death tech backed inter-gang as one of the factions trying to get the key, and having Mongul kill a New God Darkseid eventually sends to try and get the key.

I personally think what makes this game very difficult to succeed compared to Batman or Spiderman is how blatantly "powerful" Superman actually is in Metropolis. They'd need to really extend the gameplay and bring in different planets, villains and what not, things away from earth and normal humanity in order to impress at extreme levels Having said that I really enjoyed Superman Returns on Xbox 360 and I was always using my own imagination to make it seem so real (fun times)

When you turn on the cheats, it makes the game so much better in my opinion. Sure it takes away the fact that you are protecting the city, but at the same time it's much more enjoyable.
you know this game may not be amazing but it certainly the tip of the iceberg. the gameplay is actually pretty good and heck its open world. obviously it lacks quality content and a story. if only someone would port the majority of the xbox 360 game on pc and make a completely independent game out of it. it would be a pretty kick ass game :)

+GokuSonModz “Gokuson” this game isn't good at all
All of you guys sitting here wanting a game of your imagination.... Chase your dream and become a game creator! Im trying to and have been studying programming for 3 years now in school. Hopefully it goes somewhere. But anyways a game i want to make is a game where you're born, play through as a kid then teen and adult but you could be whatever you want to be! Like join the army or play basketball etc. And i think the 1st dlc i would make is choosing to be born as a god on olympus or asgard! I know it'd be one hard game to make but i think its worth it
You have characters like Superman and Spider-man....and then you have Niko Bellic....who must unlock two areas in the game to go there and then steal a helicopter, or take a taxi without enjoying the ride, or wait for the train to take him anywhere faraway.... :P :P :P

Man, after I finished Arkham Knight, I cant wait for rocksteady to make a superman game.....I avoided arkham knight for a year because of its average reviews.....and just today after finishing it, I realised its the best superhero game ever fuckin made. Go rocksteady!!

When you turn on the cheats, it makes the game so much better in my opinion. Sure it takes away the fact that you are protecting the city, but at the same time it's much more enjoyable.
Same here. I always turn cheats on with the game. Same goes to "DOOM Eternal" when I replay the levels. 😁
you know this game may not be amazing but it certainly the tip of the iceberg. the gameplay is actually pretty good and heck its open world. obviously it lacks quality content and a story. if only someone would port the majority of the xbox 360 game on pc and make a completely independent game out of it. it would be a pretty kick ass game :)
