They don't mention the bleed settings in their instructions, so this was very helpful. Thank you.
You are so very welcome
Thank you so much. I've been wrestling with I.S. all day. Much appreciated.

You're so welcome - thanks for commenting :)
Thank you so much!!!
I wish you would have showed what the PDF looks like in two page view. I recently uploaded a file to ingram,. The eproof and PDF looked fine, but when I got the hard copy, all the pages were shifted by one
Sorry to hear that - did you start with a single right hand page, before the first two page spread? I will be making an updated version of this soon and I’ll be sure to show the pdf in two page view.
So we don't need to add the bleed size to the final trim size of our book? I saw that you kept the width and height the same, 11 x 8.5. I thought we had to add the bleed to the final trim size
The final file will need to have bleed added - 0.125inches on all outer edges.
@@CreativeGenie got it, thank you
so odd--I have mine set up exactly as you have here, but the eproof comes back with .125 inch added to the gutter sides and cuts off the other side by the same amount, so frustrating! any help is appreciated--ingram is NO help
Thank you very much
You're very welcome!
Hi, I've been watching all your videos, and your content is really very useful.
watching this video I could export my file for book print correctly. My file was accepted.
But I am having problems with my Ebook, it is a reflowable Epub, can you tell me how should I export it please? thanks.
Fab! I am so happy it helped!
Ingram spark have this recommendation: "We recommend a 0.125" (3 mm) white strip within the trim area, on the bind side of the page, for perfect bound and
hardcover books" Would there be a reason why your illustrations go right to the edge of the bind side? I am illustrating a book to publish via ingram and this had me confused...
HI Dennis, this extra 3mm on the bind side is to allow for where the pages are glued together and this area may not be visible. I personally treat this area like a bleed area - if I have a full page illustration I ensure the background covers this extra area but obviously not with any important parts of the illustration.
@@CreativeGenie I haven't used Ingram Spark but I realised with a local printer that when an image gets to that gutter margin, the binding glue doesn't bind the pages as good as when its plain. Have you had a similar experience with Ingram?
@@Dennis-lk2ed I haven't noticed this with my books!
@@CreativeGenie Thanks for the prompt replies and help!
Hello, Can this same process be done with a photo shop file? Thanks
so there is no interior template to download from ingram?
Thank you for this! Do you have advice for how to troubleshoot the following error message after you've uploaded your cover and interior?
"An error has occurred retrieving content file validation."
I get this every time I try to upload. Is it meaningful that it takes FOREVER for it to process before Ingram Spark gives me this error?
Can i ask, with your double page spreads, did you have to split them in half first?
It’s not necessary to, as when the pdf is generated it will split them - as long as you export to single page pdf 😊
my setup doesn't take the inside bleed into account when previewing? 😳
Hi Lynda this is a great tutorial. I have a question. So I recently got my Eproof children's book to look at and the ends of the interior pages are all cut off. This book will be basically a 9x10. I noticed that your Eproof in this tutorial are all SINGLE pages. I uploaded my ebook in a LANDSCAPE both pages showing in the Eproof. Should I have uploaded my PDF in single pages for this print book?
@@DeanRocha-i6p hey thanks for the question! Yes you will need to create the pdf as single pages even if you have double page layouts, if that makes sense. If you would like me to check your pdf, send it over to lynda@lyndalouiseart.com and I’ll have a look for you.
@@CreativeGenie Thank you so much Lynda. I'm having my illustrator redo the PDF in that format. So when I get it back I'll be in touch, again thank you!
@@CreativeGenie So one more question. Should I have uploaded the front and back of the book in portait (single pages) as well?
@@DeanRocha-i6p do you mean the front and back cover?
@@CreativeGenie yes
All interior for paperback Ingramspark must have bleed margins? IS there interior without bleed ?
The interior only needs to have a bleed if you have a background design or illustration that stretches right to the edge of your pages - if your pages are plain white or crème there’s is no need to add a bleed for the interior
@@CreativeGenie thank You. Ingramspark does not mention that .
So you did the cover first and then this pages inside but the 4 first pages how they are gonna sit in the book is the first page the back (verso)of the cover and wish page is her frent(recto) or what please explain
No, the interior file doesn't get printed on the back of the cover - the first oage you see will be the first interior right hand page
I am confused. Ingram Spark doesn't accept spreads. So, how do you account for the proper bleeds on inside? I can't figure out how to do it in Indesign.
Sorry I don't keep up with comments here much. Please email me at lynda@mangoro.co.uk and I will let you know how I can help you!
why are you in portrait and not in landscape mode?
I am in landscape, I have it set to the size and dimensions of my book
hi,
i am uploading my book to ingram spark but it shows an error which is" pdf file contain layers.we request flattened files( no layers)".i have also posted a screen shot of error.
can you please assist me?
thanks
