The Fair Work Commission has ordered industrial action be suspended across Sydney's train network from 6.30pm today until next week.

The state government made the application to suspend the protected action under section 424 of the Fair Work Act, arguing work bans imposed by the rail unions had wreaked havoc on the economy.
The matter will return to the Fair Work Commission for a full bench hearing next Wednesday and Thursday.
