    Hey Levy,
We love this road to GM series because we love you man. You introduced so many of us to this sport and watching you compete in tournaments feels just like if we were watching an older brother play in some big state championship. When you win, we win, when you lose we're here with you!

Hi Levy. My story is similar to many others, it was through your channel that I have been introduced to chess. I was born blind, so a lot of chess resources are inaccessible to me. But blindness does not stop me from enjoying your videos and also learning from them. Thanks to you, I've started both watching and learning to play chess which has become an important part of my life lately. I can't really tell you not to feel bad about any of your losses, that's impossible. All I can say is, if you see this, please try and remember your wins as well. You've had some pretty bad defeats, but you have also had some great victories against some of the world's best players. The road to GM is a long one, but I truly believe you can get there eventually. Remember that through all the ups and downs, you have people who genuinely support you whatever happens, and won't abandon you even when you start to make mistakes. Finally, I wanted to thank you. Thank you for everything you do in your videos and your courses, and all your efforts to make chess less intimidating and more entertaining. Good luck with the rest of your tournament and all future games you play.

I can't imagine how hard and frustrating it must be to show off your losses that way. Please don't lose your joy in chess or faith in yourself. You did a great job so far, handling the nerves comes with experience. I know you can do it, you're not missing anything on the theory front. You prove that to us in all those years already.

Levy, you’ve shown lots of talent and won plenty of impressive chess games.
    Your biggest opponent is you.
I don’t think you’re gonna get the GM title without overcoming yourself, and like a tennis player or NHL goaltender, half the battle is staying mentally sharp no matter what.
Your belief in you has to come back, as it should. You’re clearly a very talented chess player. So many top athletes, especially those who find themselves in tough situations (like being the last guy back, goaltending, or being in a 1v1 the entire time anyways, like chess or tennis) see sports therapists for that reason. And they’ve been famously successful afterwards.
Whatever it takes, because you have the ability and talent, so focus on this title because once you have it, you’ll feel so relieved and accomplished. Over the years, every time you mention it, I can tell it weighs on you a bit. This is something you want, and most importantly, something you feel you can achieve. Don’t let yourself be your biggest opponent.
    And good luck.

@ He has performed at gm level multiple times. If he does not become a gm, it will not be because of his skill or talent. Most likely the reason will be age or mental, but I think if he gets a hold of his mental soon enough, he can become a gm. I think he has good odds of becoming a gm if he can consistently replicate his good performance. I'm not the kind of person to say that it is certain either way though.

I've been following your 'road to GM' for quite a while now and there are 2 things that always come back in your evaluation of your own games. Often, your first instinct is one of the better moves, if not the best move, but you start overthinking and choose to move a different piece.
Secondly, you often avoid moves that feel passive. Then I see your opponents make moves that feel passive in preparation of an attack that wins the game.
I really hope you can break this barrier, go more for your gut instinct and go for those passive moves in preperation of an attack!

22:36 - This video and this comment came at the right time for me. I've been increasing my ELO quite steadily as I've learned the game. Then, suddenly a little while ago, I just started to lose and lose and lose out of nowhere. My ELO sank like a rock, but I still couldn't win even though the others' rank were way below my peak. So strange. It's like the "chess gods" have condemned me, hence I've been a bit angsty about chess lately. But seeing others way more skilled than I also having these losing streaks makes me at least somewhat relieved that I'm not alone haha

So I know what it's like to have a goal you think is extremely hard to achieve, especially when you're losing some games in a row, but there are going to be a lot of amazing games you are going to win and sooner or later you are going to achieve your goal. Just remember that at least thousands of people believe that you can become a GM. You just have to find some mental strenghth to believe in yourself and not to give up. And I wish you best of luck in future games and thank you for being my inspiration.

Hey, Ive played chess tournaments myself, and you need to think longer for some moves, what hurts Levy is that he plays relatively easy moves in like 5 minutes, which really hurts him in the long run when he actually has a tough descicion, but doing that will probably result in 6 more losses, you'll probs miss a Lot of things

    • @afuzzycreature8387
      @afuzzycreature8387 21 годину тому +1

i'm more like 5... if you don't see any blunders then make the move and leave time to save yourself later. Levy know the fundamentals. he knows he knows the fundamentals but his own rapport implies he's emoting everywhere

İ really love you and your content, everyday waiting new content and especially in this Road to GM series. I’m actually not that good at chess, at least I’m not in your level Levy, but maybe, next time you play the move that you normally will not play? Just make moves that you find ridiculous and don’t think 3-4 moves away, just focus on one move play what you find ridiculous but not that bad.
P.S. whatever move you play, you win or lose, we still love you))

I started playing chess two years ago thanks to your content. It got me to stop my addiction issues (or at least replace them with healthier ones lol), gave me purpose when almost nothing else in life did, and helped me deal with depression and anxiety. I can read from other comments I'm not the only one with a story like this.
If you can have some perspective and realise this (I know it's hard), an effin GM title means nothing compared to the impact you made on the sport and on so many people.
    We're all rooting for you.

Paradox of change(Gestalt therapy, the way you see things): the probabilities lean toward the fact that change cannot be forced, rather more accepted. My friend - lawyer, iraq vet, marathon runner, sweet girl but scares me a little bit maybe lol - told me, "LITTLE STEPS WILL GET YOU EVERYWHERE IN LIFE." (Guess what her name was.. Yes, Rose!) [Cool man, you'll get there ! We're all rooting for you mate !!] Go Levy !!!

Did he really drop Arturs? I feel like many of the pieces of advice he gave were very useful had Levy just listened to them, such as not using vague justifications but always requiring concrete lines, calculation, and so forth.
He's also intentionally playing worse lines, which is insane to me. Magnus can get away with that, but he's no Magnus.

Levy, you'll probably never read this, but it would be really interesting and instructive to see you work with a sports psychologist to tackle some of these mental blocks, which we all have at some level or another (mine obviously much lower than yours).
Beside that, just focus on the process, and the results will eventually take care of themselves. Thanks for sharing that process with all of us.

I was 400 when i first started watching and am now 900 and upwards toward 1000 (800-1000 elo is kinda rough, lots and lots of mistakes that didn't look like mistakes in the moment) You can do this man!
