  • Hurricane Helene’s eyewall began moving ashore along the Florida Big Bend region just after 10 p.m. Thursday and the storm made “landfall” around 11 p.m. 10 miles west-southwest of Perry just east of the Aucilla River.

    Ian came ashore winds at 155 to 161 sustained It wasn't called until over half the exe was over land when they called landfall.The back end was even stronger. NOA said it was a cat 5 in the gulf. More shananagans! They also kept saying it was going to Tampa. 2 hours later oops😮

    MADE LANDFALL refers to the time when the exact center of the eye crosses into land, not the leading edge of the eye. Not shenanigans but definitions, Mr. Weatherman.

      I thought he said he could see land thru the eye. If that is correct, that should be landfall.
