This could have been a really cool skin for Yorick. Insect wing mist cape, fae walkers and Maiden, a ring of mushrooms for his wall (search up faerie ring), and a not traditionally attractive champ given a skin in an attractive line that doesn't make him evil

honestly the coolest part of this skinline is the potential it has for future reruns!! if they add some monster champs into this skinline it could be the next elderwood!!!

I may be in the minority here, but I honestly love Ezreal's skin. I understand that this skin would have worked a lot better with other champs, and that Ezreal doesn't need any more skins but I like how they changed Ezreal's usual blonde and blue palette into this lighter pink pastel one. I also think the costume looks really good on him along with the facial adornments

I love the skin. I just wish they changed them on the rift compared to the splash art like they Milio. Because a splash shirt is gorgeous but in-game I think his shirt should have been either more green or more blue instead of the particular shade of teal that they gave him.

Faerie is in fact pronounced the same as Fairy, it's an older spelling of the word, so you made no mistake in trusting your taste.
I love non scifi fantasy style skins like this, elderwood, old god, enchanted journey, shadowfoot twitch or whatever, so I love the faerie concept. I think they could've done better with many of them though. Kalista and Karma are the best, and I wouldn't change either of them pretty much

I think they didn’t make it in BECAUSE they are already whimsical creatures. It’s difficult to make a faerie court Lillia skin innovative because Lillia’s base skin already looks like it could be a faerie court skin; same can be said of Neeko. Trying to do so anyways runs the risk of another Spirit Blossom Lillia situation; the skin was largely considered to be boring because it was basically just Lillia again. Nothing new or creative done with its design.
It’s kind of like how Senna and Lucian were not given Sentinel skins during the SOL event because their base designs are already Sentinel skins. Or how Infernal Brand would never happen because Brand is already infernal by default.

I know that its dumb, but Ezreal's pastel color pallet (depending on what what reference site you use) is indeed a summer. I think specifically in makeup and clothes, bolder colors are spring while pastels are considered summer. When talking in reference to artistic color theory this is not the case, which as an artist always trips me up, but when people do things like "color matching" for your appearance, what color belongs where is not as intuitive as you would think.
Bright non-green colors = flowers = spring. That Ezreal skin is as spring as they come. Summer is greens and paler yellows.
It'S a fault of the in game coloration, If he was sky blue, yelow/orange and pink, it would be a summer coloration, instead he's teal, bright green, and pink, That's spring
@@ludekmaly3900 Hi, like I said in my comment, the way colors are seasonally categorized changes based on the source and for what you’re using it for. For example, in more traditional artistic color theory, those examples you have are absolutely correct. And they feel more intuitive in my opinion as well. However, in other practices, like color matching based on appearance, pastels are considered more summery and bolder pinks, purples, yellows, ect. are considered spring colors. I'm not saying that the coloration is good, I personally think its dumb, but there is at least different categorization of colors than feels intuitive.
@@nunyabiznes7446 By bright, I mean more saturated. Ezreal's color pallet was pretty light and unsaturated, making the colors pastels in my opinion. Also summer is not mostly green, its a mix of colors like pale blue, green, purple, and pink.

Personally I think the lore of this skin line is interesting and definitely has potential for expansion. Karma isn't actually supposed to be crowned queen but some unnamed character/s put her on the throne for their own reasons (it's giving Leblanc). While the actual queen to be crowned Fiora was sidelined. Then you have the aspect of the 4 season kingdoms. I think the winter kingdom is shunned by everyone so they have their own queen mentioned in Karma's lines to Katarina, the unseelie queen.
As for the colors I think there's some way to rationalize the choices they made. Summer is all the bright pinks/violets, light blues some greens. It's all of the other season's colors. Spring only has 1 represention but I think they'll be more shades of blue and purple with green. Like they represent the clear skies of spring. Autumn is darker oranges and red with deep violets. While Winter is white with minimal accents of blue or green, mimicking a tundra biome.
The skins are very pretty. That's about it. Not much to say outside of that.
Kalista could have used the legendary skins make her back not riddled with spears an possibly change her from being vengeance incarnate for once. I don't know what she would be in this universe, but I imagine it is better than replacing spears with wings. That's like 3 wings haphazardly thrust into her back right?

The only reason they came up with seraphine is to sell. More kda skins. Her lore on launch was trash so they had to rewrite it, they gave her a freaking ultimate skin on launch! Like why?! And she's just sona 2.0 and that's what bothers me the most. Sonas my favorite champ and instead of reworking her kit they gave that idea to seraphine. That's why I don't like her. She's not a bad champ but the way riot went about creating her was bad

when this skinline first got announced, while I was happy Kalista was getting something really nice looking, I wasn't expecting to care for this line at all. I was expecting it to be basically exactly what you'd expect from a skinline about fairies, bright colours, sparkles, your typical happy go lucky champs (besides Kalista). I was really surprised when pbe went up and the skinline was not that, that I wound up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. I do think fans have fixated too heavily on who should have been in this skinline based on aesthetics, and completely neglected the political drama aspect of it, where champs like Katarina do indeed fit in. One of the writers for the line, Riot Ten Paces I think? even said it could be described as magical Game of Thrones with faeries kinda validated me in my frustration that people only focused on who fit into the bright and bubbly aspect of the line. But I digress, I'm pleasantly surprised with Faerie Court, moreso than I expected to be
I actually love that kalistas back spears are wings but it was a legendary wasted oportunity to make new animations of her flying around instead of jumping, plus I hope the spears you threw were also wings
I especially like Kalista and Katarina because they feel like almost opposite aesthetics from their canon selves, I think more skins should play with that idea and we should have more darker, serious champions in lighter skinlines like this (looking at you, Kayn, getting only edgelord anime boi skins)

the color scheme is related to each season's plants, not with the environment, I also found it weird at first but then someone explained and it's actually much better since it's related to the forest

as a folklore fan (and dnd nerd) the seasonal courts weren't something riot just made up, the fae organise in many courts often underneath the labels of seelie (based in light and contracts, generally good with their wrath needing to be provoked) and unseelie (scheming tricksters associated with darkness and mistrust)
they are also traditionally divided into presiding over the four seasons, with the summer court often being merged with the seelie court/the winter court with the unseelie in fictional adaptations, although the idea of seasonal courts appear to have more contemporary origins compared to the classifications of seelie and unseelie which stem from various ancient gaelic folktales and beliefs
uh. yeah so funny skinline cool, i feel like kled wouldve been a good pick to represent the more goblinoid fae, skaarl couldve had little butterfly wings in the place of flaps and everything
to me katarina feels like she represents her season the best but she also feels like she doesn't fit in the skin like at all aesthetically
also something that is very nice about fae katarina is while the others are butterfly wing themed hers resemble a moth more, which i find suits the winter theme more

@@Invisibool you know what I mean. Alternate takes on a character. Lulu’s design is still that of a yordle, not a Fae. Giving Lulu faerie wings and a more whimsical look instead of the semi-mage look she already has wouldn’t be that much of a problem, especially with pix because pixies are just smaller faeries.
As a sucker for fantasy creature concepts, it's cool seeing every character involved turn into fae. It was honestly a breath of fresh air knowing that Riot's concept of fae are a good mixture of the dainty Tinkerbell-esque fairies and the darker feral, insectoid fae.
The faewild. Spilt into the seelie and unseelie courts. The unseelie court comprised of all the spooky stuff of fairy tales, like redcaps, goblins, brownies, trolls etc. it’s ruled by the queen of air and darkness. It will be cool to see this side of the fae realm get representation and we could get some dark fae skins for champs like Kled, Trundle, Zac, and Teemo

If I’m not mistaken, faerie is still pronounced “fairy.” It’s just the more technical/mature term for fairy. Fairy suits this skinline more since Fae-rie tend to be a bit more dark and mischievous and fairy are your typical lighthearted cutesy winged creatures, I still like the technical spelling more
It might have been too deep a cut, but it'd be fun to have a few redcaps. Mundo's the go-to crazy guy but a bolder choice would be to completely rethink an existing hunter, like Rengar or Rek'sai, or give it to someone whose silly movement fits the faerie theme, like Zac or Zeri.

That skin-line lore kinda reminds me of a setting in magic the gathering; Lorwyn. Has some of the most gorgeous card arts in the game.
As someone who's a big nut for fae stuff these skins are kinda meh and a bit basic. Fae has some mystical and fantastical stuff but as Nicky pointed out there's also some pretty grim and horrifying stuff; for every pixie, fairy, and nymph we have stuff like dulahan, hags, and spriggans. These skins feel like a very walmart definition of fae stuff, things you'd see on a grade schoolers poster.
It's fine, faerie is basically the ancestor word of fairy. If they really wanted to ramp up the oldworldiness of this skin line they would've called it the FAE Court to really distinguish it, but I guess they didn't wanna scare off people who only know about the cutesy kind of fairies so they chose an innocuous middle-ground.
In fact this whole skin-line reeks of that, since traditionally the Fae were... not nice. Typically the Winter Court is thought of as the 'bad guys', but the simple fact is that ALL of the Lords and Ladies kinda looked down on humanity as lesser beings: a Fae being nice to a human is either them taking pity on you or luring you in with shiny things so they can do something horrible to you later.
The legends that come to mind when I think of Fae are cradle-snatchers who stole human babies (and operated similarly to vampire rules vis a vis being allowed into a human's house, hence why you should NEVER leave a baby near a window) and that you should NEVER eat or drink anything while in Fae lands or they *OWN YOUR SOUL.* Or something like that.
Ultimately, the Fae are supposed to represent the caprice of Nature: at times kind, at times cruel, but always mercurial and unable to be understood with human logic. In some ways they're similar to the monsters and gods of the Cthulhu Mythos: they do what they want according to their own alien values; while you can potentially gain great power and knowledge from consorting with them, the only real winning move is not to play.
Another one - Whilst in the Fae lands _never_ tell anyone your name, they will steal it and in doing so give you magical amnesia, trapping you there until you die.
Omg a gnome or gobelin Kled would have been a perfect fit for this skin line with a redcap skaarl

Karma was the very first champ I fell in love with when my friend introduced me to the game in 2017. When I started playing more regularly again I made sure to buy her Faerie Court skin. It makes me happy, it's about time she got a legendary skin. Now I have all of them!

before i knew that there was a new skinline i saw katarina's splash art for this skin and thought it was just winterblessed diana. and it wasn't only the first time, i saw this splashart like 5 times and only when someone told me that this was kata i noticed the scar and was like ohhhh yeah now it STILL doesnt make sense.
uh tulips are often purple and is a spring flower. but not sure Riot was thinking of that since i don't really see many flowers in that skins but that could be the reason for Purple skin instead green

I think this skins are inspired by the Dresden files. They too have a Faerie court with the courts being separated in Winter and Summer (not all 4 seasons) with a powerful faerie queen. They too have also all the other pixies and redcaps and whatever. Karma as a few voice lines that talk about things to books talk about too, like the Unseelie. Either that or they take inspiration from the general folklore that the Dresden Files take from too.
Yeah those ideas are very general to fey lore not just a dresden files thing. Dnd for example uses the ideas of the seelie and unseelie and seasonal courts. I believe Changeling the Lost uses seasonal courts as well

For this initial line I do think the references are our of ur taste, the aesthetics refer to faerie kingdom media of 2000-2010s so people who grew up with winx or tinkerbell movies would really appreciate the camp and kitsch of this line. I do agree on one thing which is why tf is ezreal in this skinline, this aesthetic is like the opposite of what I think ezreal players want

The point of skins is to change the theme of the champion. If the champion itself would mostly fit in the skin line with their base skin, then I would argue that they are NOT in fact a good fit. Like, should we get an Infernal Brand ?

Those are seasonal colours - they're based on seasonal colour theory. Each season uses the same colour of blue, yellow, oink, etc., but different chroma, hue, and saturation.
You find yellow undertones in Spring/Fall, and blue in Summer/Fall.

Okay listen here not all spring stuff needs to be green or pink. Fiora reminds of emerging crocus in springtime and that little wingtrail looks like a rainpuddle like spring rain. But it might just be me who wants to see more creative ways to incorporate other colors into a season theme.

I think the colors are fine? Lavender for spring is a nice change of pase since it’s always green and pink which is kinda boring, and the vibrant colors for summer work very well too I think, autumn and winter are more classic colors but, why does everything have to fit in a mold?

This skinline isn't for everyone, which is fair. I'm sure when Resistance/Battlecast skins come out, the Faerie Court crowd probably won't be interested much. Everyone has their own tastes and not all skinlines will resonate with anyone.
As for the mixed coloring, we have preexisting ideas of what colors mean which season but art is subjective and colors have a wide range of symbolism. Fiora's cooler colors may not make sense for spring, but perhaps she represents the rainy days of spring. These deviations make you think critically about the art, which is always fun.
Normally I'd agree about Ezreal not needing another skin (Porcelain is probably his least necessary one) but I'm biased as hell. I love Ezreal, and this is the type of skin I've been waiting for him to get since I started playing 9 years ago. I hope Varus gets a pretty skin this year too.
I honestly really like these skins (except maybe some of the champ choices). I think that it does require some knowledge of Faerie mythos and folklore to have a great appreciation for them tho.
If they switched around fiora and ezreal's seasons (and maybe given fiora some bright yellows) the skinline would've been a lot better.

Listen, I don't care if people like Seraphine or dislike her, but the fact she has eight skins whilst only being three years old, whereas my boy Ornn - who has been around for six years and only has four (counting the base skin for each) is ridiculous.

their entire skinline is based around beeing faerie but you only get the wings during recall, thats such a weird move
