I live and work on Mackinac Island April-November every year. I do a Haunted History Tour with Haunts of Mackinac if anyone is interested in hearing more stories :)
I lived in Michigan 68 years and every time I visited the island it was like very very relaxing and this is Gods country! Never any creepy things with God!
SO THERE ARE ACTUALLY PEOPLE THAT LIVE ON THE ISLAND ALL YEAR ROUND?? THE PARTS SHOWN ON T HE VIDEO ALL LOOKS SO CLEAN AND AFFLUENT, IS THE WHOLE ISLAND REALLY LIKE THAT OR JUST WHAT WE SAW
I stayed at the Grand Hotel 3 times. I can feel when there is a presence of a spirit around me. I can usually feel who that presence is. The first time I walked into the Grand Hotel it was like being slammed with a feeling of every person who had been there before. I even said, “Wow!” It wasn’t scary. It was pure awe! I loved the place and went back 2 more times. That was the only feeling that I felt aside from the sheer joy of being there. 😊❤️
Hey hey! I've worked on the island for two seasons now and am going back for 2017. Because of all the rumored ghost sightings, my friends and I have actually gone to seek out these things and put ourselves in super weird situations with no results. Sure, the middle of the island can be super spooky at night away from the hustle of Main Street, but we've explored every inch of it with no luck of a fright. With all the crazy and dumb shit we do, I'm surprised nothing has happened. Because we all work all day, the majority of our free time is super late riding around the island in the dark. I even work the night shift at my hotel alone (which is supposedly when the ghost in my hotel comes to hang out) and have had no luck. I walk home every night alone which would usually make me feel weird on the mainland, but it's unreal how safe the island is. The stories are really intriguing though! I'm in love with the history behind them. They keep tourists interested and continue the old charm of Mack. No harm done.
No fool Jesus a Fake made up name lol... I worked there it not bad really maybe because the stories of that is not true or they blessed and made peace offerings.....Now outside that place yes I'm sure it haunted because my Dorm was five min behind the grand I seen a shadow figure and had one wild dream.....I was not scare I was more at peace but my roommate as shitty as he was slept with the TV on for months
My family owned a summer cottage in Hubbard's Annex on Mackinac for 30 years. After retiring from teaching in ' 99, have happily lived in Europe since then. Other than missing friends and family (and a touch of Ann Arbor), Mackinac Island will always occupy a deep and dear part of my heart. The richness and splendor of Europe is unparalleled, but Mackinac is one of the most beautiful places on earth...I miss it.
I have visited Mackinac Island many times having done several Chicago Mackinac Yacht Races and stayed there on boats and hotels including the Grand Hotel. Also, we had a waterfront property west of the bridge for many years and witnessed strange happenings at the island / lighthouse just across. In 1993, our sailboat was tied up to the old coal docks since all the public docks were full. We were the only boat in the dock where old steamers and vessels unloaded centuries before. That first night, my wife awakened to see an old woman carrying a book and trying to communicate some message. Although I did not see this apparition, I am certain my wife was not dreaming. We stayed there several nights, and my wife witnessed more occurrences. Also, you spent only a little time at Fort Mackinac which has had many sightings and occurrences, and which greatly interested me since am a US Army veteran / West Point, and there were many West Pointers stationed there in the 19th century. The island is beautifully magical for all and possesses positive spiritual energy as you pointed out very well in your closing. Go back and explore the Fort in depth. Thank you.
I lived on the island year round from June 95-Feb-98. My 1st job was at the Grand. I was a mini bar attendant during the day and a bar porter at night for all the fancy parties. I have seen every room in the hotel including the attic. I heard that was haunted because a little girl fell out of the window. Her parents were the winter caretakers. Have no idea if it's true. I worked many places but the best was the DNR working at the Fort and taking care of the grounds at Arch Rock and British Landing. Winters are a little rough but it's gorgeous year round! I miss it! This was a great video!!
I was walking along a road along the outside of the island at about midnight. I was hoping to get a view of the bridge and I could swear I heard chains dragging and footsteps along the beach and rocks getting thrown into the water. This is a very haunted place. The most terrifying of my life when I think about it.
back in 1998, i was shown a picture of one of the cemeteries, and in the background, there was a group of people with what looked like a casket on their shoulders. the owner of the picture said that there wasn't any funerals taking place that day
My first summer working up on the island was 2017. I wish I would've watched this before that! I lived there until last summer. Wonderful place. I live in Mack City now but I can't wait to go back for a day after watching this!
I’ve been going every summer with my family for about 15 years & despite the lore and semi-recent creation of haunted tours, most of us (family of 18) gave up on ghost hunting within the first 5 years. Locals reject notions of hauntings and the Harvey story as mere entertainment for tourists. I’m open-minded and somewhat giddy about the idea of ghosts, but have yet to experience anything on the island. This video is great though!!! Excellent incite into other places (we stay at the same place each time), and great imagery of the island during the fall!!
Hi Matt! Best video of the island. I was in a museum there and a chair moved two inches away from a wall and back. Before I knew any history of the fort I knew what happened to the women and children there. Such grieving, fear and sadness. I felt very ill. A spirit impressed on me that the women wanted off the island. They begged to leave. Many children died of severe illness. Nothing they could do. The men in one lookout tower saw the British coming and in that moment they we're willing to give up. The emotional strain was heavy. Such grieving for the women and children. I had to leave the fort. I felt everything they felt.
I live at Mission house! haha And I give haunted tours of the downtown area. We're all super friendly (and so are the ghost children). I've had only a couple ghost children experiences. One was in my room late one night and just kind of was there in the corner. I noped outta that and pulled the covers over my face lol
I love the island! Its gorgeous in the autumn, and pretty empty. I like just standing in the Fort looking over the water. Ghosts or not, history speaks loud and clear!
I loved going to the island. Just being on the Great Lakes is amazing, interesting and eerie. Especially Superior. Lived my whole life in Michigan, until 5 years ago.
Dude....... that sunset at the end was absolutely amazing. I have to say your filming within this episode sure has improved. This was mainstream TV "Travel Channel" worthy. Great job.
TJ Jones Thanks TJ. I just shared this comment on my Facebook page. your always so encouraging man. don't think that's lost on me buddy. Appreciate it!
Great job capturing the Beauty of the Island. I must return. I've been there once at 12 yrs old with my parents we left early after 5 days it rained non-stop and such a blowing rain that we could do nothing! I'm a huge fan of the Somewhere in Time movie which makes it even more attractive to go back. Thank You for the video!
Greg Appelgren DUDE!! You NEED TO check out my Somewhere in Time filming locations videos if you have not seen them. I've done 2 of them. thanks for watching!
This is one of my favorite videos I watched so many time. I like the music in the cemetery. I often have that tune in my head. Thanks for making this video.
Hello! I'm actually one of the people in the background at the Mission House and I do live there in the summer. I don't recommend trying to break into housing, but if you want an official "haunted" tour of things like the fort (not the house, because it's just a bunch of sweaty 20-something's tbh), you can contact Mackinac State Historic Park's marketing manager (found on our website) Or ask any of our park employees at the fort or around town about any haunted experiences they may have had! P.S. the spiders are creepier than the potential ghosts.
Great video! Been going there for years. Seems something new is learned every time I go. There is so much history in the area. Hope you ate some fudge and had a pastie!! Thanks for sharing your time there...
The Grand Hotel is recognized as having the longest / biggest porch in the world. The Grand Hotel, and the whole island really, gives off Dirty Dancing vibes. Reminds me of the resort in the movie.
It wasn't spooky, but sure was a beautiful tour. Thank you. I'm from Detroit but never got up to Mackinaw. Been to the UP several times.... gorgeous country for snowmobiling.
Thank you for the tour. I've been to the island went to the same places you did and stayed overnight as well. The presence of the past can be felt here as well as Gettysburg, World Trade Center and Savannah Georgia as well as many other areas where lives were lost. Not scary ghost sightings but you can feel the history for sure and felt much respect for those that had gone before.
My family bought the Warp cottage.. we have been renovating it while staying there.. my entire crew has heard kids playing, foot steps in the house.. and an actual face in the wall when using a black light.. Other than that, it’s pretty normal..
52m 50sec....Best hour I've spent today. Amazing video. Last night I watched your "Somewhere in Time" video ! Wish I could watch one every night but I do hope you'll make many more ♡
I've said this at least once before...but why you don't have a million subscribers, and view numbers in the hundreds of thousands...I don't understand. You are among the best on the tubes at what you do!
Another brilliant episode!!!! Your editing was beautiful!!! I love the smooth transitions, rthe overall flow and continuity of the whole video, and the epic artistic shots you got at some of the locations!!! I also loved the underwater camera bit!!! I have to say, though I am biased because I work in professional theatre, I really loved the part where you got to look around backstage at the theatre!!!! Thank you again for taking us along on this adventure! This place is definitely going onto my bucket list! Keep living the dream, my friend!!!!
Rambling Redhead Thanks! Yeah the theater was super creepy. probably one of the creepiest olace, but it was also really peaceful there too. I did some filming in the same theater for a new "Somewhere in Time" video I'm doing next, and I felt like I wasn't alone. lol. I should make a extra video about just the theater. hmmmmmm. maybeeee....
I've stayed at the Island House and it was insane! We had stayed in the upper left room within the rounded part of the building. We had lights in the hallway turn on and off and the entrance door to the hall would open at night. Beautiful architecture though! At my old elementary school, our 5th grade field trip was to spend a day up there since we were only about a 2 and a half hr drive South from the bridge.
Hi! I lived at Mission House. I lived there for 4 seasons, nothing haunted there. But there were creepy things that happened. For example, people tried to break into our living quarters. How awful!
I live in Saint Ignace and when you are there a lot you honestly just get used to the stuff happening in the stores most stories are true and it’s a beauty in itself.
I work on the island year around crazy stuff has happened from smelling cigar smoke then its gone I've had a gallon of paint just tip on the ground like it got kicked
I live in Michigan I’m about 1 1/2 hours away from the island it is our hidden jewel up here. They don’t much care for the paranormal title but. If you do go please be respectful ask for permission before investigationing .I’ve not seen your channel before but loved how you did theirs very respectful very informative.
Water is a natural conductor for spirit energy and Mackinac Island is surrounded by water. I live near this island and it is extremely haunted. Although beautiful, some horrible things have happened there. Witches were tied to chairs and dropped into an endless pool of water to drown. Natives did many rituals there that called spirts, etc.
I looove this video... so amazing! I love the fall so so very much and love how 3 dimensional you are as I can totally relate to that :) I love that little bit at the end where you have a narration and all of it is sooooo true! Along with ths incredible scenwry throughout, I love that sunset! How epic was that!? Anyways! love your videos and have been obsessed with the lately! Lol Your whole family is awesome too! Keep up the good work!! 👍
Jane Seymour and Christopher reeves have both said they herd voices and saw a white mist in the theater and around mission point as well as seeing several shadow people around the pool at the grand hotel .
Me and my wife went there for our honeymoon last year. It was an awesome experience. We stayed at the Murray hotel, I'd say it's pretty creepy in there. I have hours of footage I need to go through, we had a few moments that happened while we we're there while filming in the hotel and at skull cave. One of the tours we took they said that in that area where it's all grass with the statue is all unmarked graves. Also there is a long long long staircase on the right side of that area apparently people have had allot of experiences there. Great video man!!! Makes me want to go back again, as well as see some things I missed. If I find anything on that footage I'll post it up on here And tag you.
lots of people buried under the hotel..... and basically all over that island... google it. Going there again soon after WAY TOO LONG- I am also on a page where the former carriage drivers can tell you some stories of what they saw and ard heard - who knows...
This is an excellent video. This is my 1st time watching Matts Rad Show, photography is excellent, editing & music are done well. I have been to Mac for the 'Somewhere In Time' fest twice. Many memorable things happened to me there. Is it haunted? Do spirits linger? You bet they do! 2 or 3 times walking past the North American Fur trading companys building, I have had *Déjà vu* just walking past. My name is Renee & apparantly I have a calling to time stamp videos where I see sasquatch and other forest beings. Who knew any would be on Mac in Marks vid. Certainly not me. So I subscribed, and time stamped.
I never new the history about the island. Has always been on my bucket list especially after watching ,Somewhere in Time. So sad they dug up Indian burial ground to make a profit. Wow.
I went to mission point last year and just got back from mission point today. I'm not one who usually believes in hauntings. But now that I've been to a very haunted resort... I still don't believe that crap. The island is quiet and beautiful and I can't wait to go back next year. It's like going back in time.
Loved this video! Just found you today and subscribed right away. The comment in the end made me tearful. Cause I've been going through hell for about 6 years. Life isn't really something I enjoy. I found your little speech beautiful anyway. So thank you x
I took an arrow to the knee Awesome. so glad you enjoyed it. check out my Mackinac in the Fall video next. you might appreciate that one too. thanks for the sub! :-)
I took an arrow to the knee Hey,I know how it feels,187 stitchs and then twice 14 staples in each arm,I can say that shit will get better it took a while to find my balance after feelin tha way u do for 32 years. Thoughts and blessing with u and u have my sub just out of respect and loyalty to knowing how it feels!!! u have a friend here with no hidden intentions!!! blessed be...
Love this! We vacations here in August and I fell in love with this island! I'm so interested by the folks who call it home! I have a fantasy of winning the lottery and having a house there!
Ive stayed on the island for a week in one of the antique hotels. Two of these hotels face eachother on an uphill street, and they have the same owner. In one of the hotels (the one I didnt stay in) had a grand piano that the owner said the piano would play itself. The other hotel I did stay in, there was said to be a little girl haunting it. Before I even knew of the little girl, I was in bed one night and I could feel a presence of something playful hiding in the closet. I, also, believe I saw an apparition up in the balcony seats during the haunting tour. We were trying to provoke him during the tour. The island definitely has some spooky vibes all around; especially, the theatre building and graveyard.
A few years ago a friend and I were walking up the hill by the fort. We encountered a young man pushing a bicycle. He stopped and spoke to us. We exchanged pleasant causulities. And he went on his way pushing the bike. We were talking and just goofing around. I swear the same young man went by us again pushing a bicycle. No talking. He got several steps ahead of is and just stopped. We. Slowed our pace. He then moved on. We cont up the hill and came to the fork in the road. That bicycle was leaned up against a tree by the park bench. It was the creepiest thing I ever saw.we turned around and went back the way we came.
I would love to visit this island - So beautiful both the island & the grand hotel ! The Eternal island as the natives called it ! One day ! Thankyou for sharing !
Thankyou for sharing yout trip with us ! Such a beautiful area complimented with such beautiful architecture - Thankyou ! ...Oh and have a great new year !
Last year in August of 2023 I was staying in Mission Point resort on the island. When I was staying there I went in the Theater and when we were in there we were all alone. We started to hear some noises and got creeped out. We ran out of there and never returned. Another story in that hotel every time I went in this giant library I kept feeling this weird odd feeling every time I was in there I would run.
The stories about the burials under the Grand Hotel are true. They found 200 bodies of bones and stopped counting them at that point. So, we'll never know how many people were once buried there, but its a LOT.
VERY INTERESTING, AS I AM FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD (AFRICA) THE CHANCES THAT I WILL EVER PERSONALLY GO THERE IS 0 BUT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - I CAN STILL LOOK AND DREAM - THANK YOU
I clearly heard someone say "hello" to you when you were in the theater. If you go back stage and turn on one of those fake ghost apps that make a loud annoying sound (s) & leave it on for say ten min, take some random pictures while you have it on, then turn off the app. and try for EVP's, plus cont. to take random pictures. Then look through your pictures and recordings and see if you get anything. 👻🤘💖
Oh yeah my family is from the island my great grandfather x5 Samuel C. Lasley owned the first boarding house on island . 1816-1840 he was a soldier at fort Mackinac from 1798-1803 he married a Chippewa women and had 9 children, I have stayed at relatives homes when I was young and the things I have seen and hear scared the crap out of me. Stella King was related somehow to my family she was a nurse and she was the only medical person on the island for decades we used to visit her house and stay up stairs and it used to give me the creeps.
I live and work on Mackinac Island April-November every year. I do a Haunted History Tour with Haunts of Mackinac if anyone is interested in hearing more stories :)
Please share some stories.
I definitely would be interested in the stories
Would you be willing to share them with me so that I can share them on my podcast?
Please
Please share :)

Kenzie Joy that’s super cool artifacts! I just got back from Mack, It’s cool there! And so, do you know Breezy?
cheesyramen Mackinac Island is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
I live in Michigan and I've been to Mackinac Island lots of times and I never noticed anything haunted.
Jesus Freak that’s because you have accepted Jesus into your life
No fool Jesus a Fake made up name lol...

I live there its not
Have you ever seen a Dogman? Because that's pure Michigan.
Kejuan Sallad there’s historical evidence Jesus existed. It’s just your opinion if you think he’s not the son of god
When you said the grand hotel is haunted I freaked out because I am in the grand hotel right now
Going there in June 🤭🤭🤭

Why does this video not have like 10 million views? Anyway nice work. Love going to the island. Great memories and great history!

I'd love to hear the impressions you had of the Island - at that age.
Greg Appelgren My family had to wait on people's porch (which they let us) for rain. It sucked. My mtn Nike was soaked.
Legend Says Greg still hasn’t visited 🤔
This is one of my favorite videos I watched so many time. I like the music in the cemetery. I often have that tune in my head. Thanks for making this video.

"The pink is very scary" lol. That was the scariest part of the video! Thank you so much for taking us on the tour! Job well done!
Elena Starta Haha. Right? Not sure what they were thinking with that Pink. Yikes. Scary stuff. Thanks for watching! Muchluv!

Hi friend! You have a wonderful channel & I totally came to support you♥️♥️♥️♥️
I used to be a tour guide in the fort for a week a year with the scouts. That fort and island is definitely haunted.
That place is beautiful. Thanks for taking us along. Safe travels and Lord bless Matt.
AimlessAdventures Thanks man. Happy to have you guys along! Bless you too!!!
Thank you so much from filming this Island if not for you I would never get to see it. I enjoyed your video presentation ❤
Not sure if it's actually haunted, but it's definitely enchanted.
22:14 that wall color is enough to send chills up someones spine. bleh! Pepto Bismol! yum....
24:27 bahahahaha! Made my comment before I continued to watch. You seem to have agreed!
TJ Jones Haha great minds think alike.
What a magnificent place but a bit worrisome :-) So much history !
Great video and stories of Mac. We are going back this year. Now I have a new ideas for exploring the island. Cheers!
Beautiful cinematography.. You have an eye for filming..
I work on the island year around crazy stuff has happened from smelling cigar smoke then its gone I've had a gallon of paint just tip on the ground like it got kicked
Steven Davenport Cool, thanks for sharing man!
How do you get a job and place to stay year round?
Really. What a trip 👈🤟😎
Haven't even watched into 4 minutes and it's already an awesome video
We have really felt we were there with you. Amazing video Matt. Interesting and cool
Phoenixter Dam Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed it!
I worked a summer on the island and I lived above ryba fudge shop on Main Street and in five months nothing creepy happened
I looove this video... so amazing! I love the fall so so very much and love how 3 dimensional you are as I can totally relate to that :)
I love that little bit at the end where you have a narration and all of it is sooooo true! Along with ths incredible scenwry throughout, I love that sunset! How epic was that!? Anyways! love your videos and have been obsessed with the lately! Lol
Your whole family is awesome too! Keep up the good work!! 👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Watching this as I sit in the Island House Hotel and I’ve been here for three weeks already for work! 😣
Jane Seymour and Christopher reeves have both said they herd voices and saw a white mist in the theater and around mission point as well as seeing several shadow people around the pool at the grand hotel .
Almost forgot - you’ve gained another new subscriber! Thanks for featuring my favorite place in the whole world
Just watched this. Your filming was great and that message at the end really gave me a moment to think about life. Thanks for this video.
Tealtween 22 Awesome. Thanks for watching! Really appreciate the comment too man!
BEAUTIFUL ♥️❤️ LOVE history ‼️*
Beautiful, enjoyable, and inspiring. Thank you very much for this video!
Sarah Coates Your welcome!! Thanks for watching! :-)
If I worked on the island, I would definitely not live in the Mission House! 😱
The photograghy is great.
Thanks!
Not shy where you go roaming lol. I'd be too nervous to go to the belly of the Theatre but I'm convinced I heard voices there watching this.
I've been there at least a dozen times and never heard anything about it being haunted. People lie so easily these days, it's hard to believe anyone.
lots of people buried under the hotel..... and basically all over that island...

love towards the end when you are on the ferry boat and shot of the bridge with the sunset looks beautiful
The island where the movie” somewhere in time “ was filmed Maybe it’s the island 🌴 where time stands still👻💀☠️great segment !👈🤙🤟
I worked there. That’s pretty accurate
Love this! We vacations here in August and I fell in love with this island! I'm so interested by the folks who call it home! I have a fantasy of winning the lottery and having a house there!
What a great vlog Matt ! Beautiful place. Thanks a lot for letting us tag along. Happy Halloween !
DutchBear1970 Your welcome! Happy Halloween guys!
Very nice photography. You showed the grave of G. Mennen Williams (aka Soapy) and his wife. I remember when he was governor of Mich.
I don't care about the ghost stories. I love the beautiful scenes you have video recorded on the island.
My husband and I are paranormal investigators and we are going next weekend. He's Native American and I think this would be so perfect
Beautiful opening scene ❤
The old Mission House will make you cry at night, its so sad, so many children died there.
47:08 smaller one crossing on right, walking bi-pedal, & cluster on the right 'cloaking' is ongoing!
Wow you just walked through a building?! That was pretty bold.
Stayed on the island for decades. Love spooky stuff. Never experienced anything despite my interest. Just tourist stories.
I would love to visit this island - So beautiful both the island & the grand hotel !
The Eternal island as the natives called it !
One day !
Thankyou for sharing !
That was the biggest pooper scooper I have ever seen ! -- cleaning the streets of horse doo ? ...
A lovely ending.
I highly enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching Jeanna!
Just letting ya know that you are rad sir.
Just found this video today and I love it! Just subscribed! :)
Kimberly Osborne Nice! Thanks. Welcome to the channel!
Anything about the history of Island is interesting.
The stories about the burials under the Grand Hotel are true. They found 200 bodies of bones and stopped counting them at that point. So, we'll never know how many people were once buried there, but its a LOT.
I stayed at the mission point resort. Loooove this island.
VERY INTERESTING, AS I AM FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD (AFRICA) THE CHANCES THAT I WILL EVER PERSONALLY GO THERE IS 0 BUT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - I CAN STILL LOOK AND DREAM - THANK YOU
I always stay at mission because they are pet friendly and not downtown had no idea it was haunted fun
I have has a ghostly experience at Island house.
