I happened to be outside in newberry township during one of the last tests this past year after the complete switchout to the new gray sirens. It was eh. Just recently all the old sirens have been taken down, for a while, the new and old sirens were side by side. I think they even took down the cyclone here in new cumberland, which used to sound for fire calls too.
On March 28, 1979, and for several days thereafter, as a result of technical malfunctions and human error, Three Mile Island’s Unit 2 Nuclear Generating Station was the scene of the nations worst commercial nuclear accident. Radiation was released, and a part of the nuclear core was damaged, and thousands of residents evacuated the area. Events here would cause basic changes throughout the world’s nuclear power industry. Hey, today is March 28th!
My dad is one of the many to evacuate from this. He lived in Harrisburg, he left 5 minutes after hearing this announcement of the accident in 3 mile Island.
All of the old ACA Cyclone 125's in the Oyster Creek NGS system in Ocean County, N.J. are being replaced by ASC Tempest T128's because unfortunately the Cyclones are older units and some didn't operate correctly for warnings prior to Hurricane Sandy. But the T128 is a good unit also .
nice but the penetrators are not P-10s their P-15 because P-10s are single toned and sound like a sentry defender and the P-15s are dual toned and are mostly 9/12 port. just saying.
Are you sure? Because in one of the ACA tapes on UA-cam, they show part of the installation of a P-10 in TMI. I'm not sure where you got that information.
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009 this was a time I’d pass the glenside bolt all the time, but that’s since been removed, as well as the 13th and union bolt. The jail bar on reading city hall I believe is the only CD siren remaining besides a model 5 on the south part of town on a bakery.

it sucks that the P-15 and Cyclones are being replaced by T-128s.:( I would want to hear those sirens so badly! I live in Montgomery county and our limerick thunderbolt 1000s and 1000Ts are all ready dead because their wires are cut. D: the Thunderbolts in Peach bottom are also being replaced by T-128s but the thunderbolts still are active cause the T-128s have no antennae. T-128 are not even loud so no offense but T-128s suck a little and their boring too. T-bolts, P-15s and Cyclones are louder
i live up in harford county, and i used to be a siren enthusiast back before 2011 and i occasionally "check in", and i have to say, i never knew that peach bottom had a thunderbolt system until i found one in 2014... i was so mad. All those years and i never once heard a system test every December and June. I did however hear the december of 2016 system test, and 3 of the T128s are audible from my house, and i gotta say i love the sound of them. Again, i would have loved to hear what the thunderbolt 1000s sounded like, and thankfully there are videos of them on YT, someone tried to record as many Tbolts as he could before they got replaced.
+Patrick Rogers Yea about a mile or 2 west of Conowingo on rt 1 there is a grey Tbolt with a jailbar, guessing its been there forever, since the jailbar was phased out in the 60s, i saw it last year and i dont know if its still there, but there is a 128 next to it.
followed up on research, what i saw was wrong, the siren is saw was one of 80 sirens placed in a 10 mile radius around and was part of the peach bottom nuclear power plant system. They were all grey colored thunderbolt 1000s yes, all 80 of them. They were not however, jailbars. There are videos of them testing on YT, someone tried to travel around and record as many as he could. The system originates from the mid 60s, when the plant was first built. All thunderbolts were replaced by T128s as of 2013 was the start, and as off 2017 all thunderbolts are gone. Another person who inquired about them informed me on the siren forums that exelon is not interested in selling any of the old system, this includes peach bottom, TMI, and limerick. It is unknown where they took the thunderbolts after removal.
T-128s are just overrated remodeled single tone P-15s just raised to a higher pitch. And it’s just disappointing TMI has to go down next year with the new system

My gosh having a 8/12 Port with a 9/12 Port siren sounding off together in the background gives me the heebie jeebies.
The best ambiance
Man, i really love there old system alot, i wish they didnt replace em, TMI is my most favorite power plant of all time
Well the old TMI system is going to stay to rot problably
Same thing with oyster creek
Spooky ambience! That Cyclone and P10 blend well together!
that P-10 is an Allertor.
dude yunz have one of the best sounding systems i have heard to date. two thumbs up bro.
At 1:26 what's up with that cyclone?
same as 1:53 i guess at 1:53 they took it's cone off.
The Owl Fan why they took it off? did the cone used to protect the input from rain, and stuff?
IDK
it was mounted at eye level for viewing at the TMI public center. The hat was removed around 2000 and the siren around 2012.
ITS* cone, not IT'S cone.
Learn the difference between ITS and IT'S.
Me: searches "how does three mile island work?"
the internet: It doesn't
I love the sound of distant sirens
1:33 Where is this?
@russelD9 Its a demo siren for people to look at in front of TMI. I suspect somebody stole it about 10 years ago. They don't activate the siren.

Some of them were installed in the early 1970's .
My cousion lives in Ocean County. There is 1 cyclone by his house.
I don't know how long ago you saw that Cyclone , but I'm 99.99 % sure that Excelon has replaced them all by now .
It was in 2008.
Definitely replaced as of early 2014 .
Cyclone in the background :-) love it so peaceful
How can that erie deep growling sound annoy you? I love it.
It invokes fear in a lot of people. Thats the point of a siren. To tell you somethings wrong and you need to take cover.
1:50 where is that siren located at?
It's long gone

Thunderbolt 1000 Siren Productions no P-10s can only be dual toned. P-15s can be dual 9/12 or single tone 8 port

I miss those sirens. Why did Exelon replace them???
They don’t support battery back up sadly because if the power goes out they wouldn’t of sounded
There is a 0.0001% chance of them having to go off for a nuclear warning with no power
we just gonna not talk about that confederate flag in the beginning?

Those particular sirens (the Three Mile Island ones) should be in ‘tornado siren madness’.
So if you hear distant ominous noise run it's a nuclear meltdown (and possibly lots of other things)
I passed a T-Bolt in reading, and I'm pretty sure I passed a T-bolt and a T-128 next to each other.

Awesome video.
I could hear the Cyclones and P-50s and P-10s and Allertors.

P-10s and Allertors sound just about the same.

Ok.
One siren has the same voltage as a t135 AC

Where was that first P-10? I think I've seen that one in person.
@namehere27 Ah, but I love it! and I'm gonna miss it now that they are replacing them with all one single toned siren which is boring
Is that one on the ground just for display
Is the top of cyclone just a cover? Does it really need it to sound? reason why cuz of the one pict of cyclone with top off
It’s more of a shield to keep the weather elements out of it. Not needed to operate
But otherwise this is prob the best beautiful irl ambience ive ever heard!
Is the cyclone at 1:54 still on display?
No it's long gone
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY DISLIKES?!
Maybe because of the treasonous confederate flag at the beginning.
