Catching Fish In INSANE Conditions! - Georges River Fishing

- How I fish (tips and techniques) in strong winds with soft plastic lures when no one else will fish. I catch flathead and bream in seemingly unfishable conditions at a highly pressured spot on the #Georges #River using light line #fishing gear.
G'day guys! Today was no ordinary day with 40km/h winds and higher. It would not be a time to whip out the ultra light gear using soft plastics on 1/16oz jigheads. Normally it is a time do something else like stay home and clean up the tackle box and go through the lures but sometimes the itch to fish is so strong that we find ourselves on the river at this nonideal time.
In this video, I catch flathead and bream with a few tips and techniques that I have learnt simply by regularly being exposed to these kinds of conditions.
Some of them include,
fishing with or against the wind (helps line lay and bite detection);
fishing sideways winds (lay line on water and keep line slack and watch for hits rather than feel);
work lures close to the bottom of the water column and more regularly;
Use lures that can be worked on the bottom;
If snagged, how to unsnag with an effective technique.
As it turned out, it was a fantastic session with a lot of bites and action and not another person in sight!

Note: Out of respect and courtesy for others, I refrain from naming spots unless it's a very popular spot. I don't mind others mentioning the spot it in the comments and I often leave enough evidence for those that want to find the spot, to be able to work it out from the video.

I recently started following you and I gotta say your videos are great and I’m learning a lot of techniques. Keep up the good work mate!
That's awesome to hear! Appreciate the kind words and more videos to come as always 👍
The best fishing channel
Glad you think so Nav!
Another great video. Mate. Many thanks for sharing mate.
I love fishing too lod,, I’m always watching your video Man,,keep uploading
That's awesome Big Jay. I really appreciate the support and I'll strive to continue bringing you the content 💪
You should put the s-factor on the lure’s tail as well
Excellent video with tips & tricks. Yesterday winds here (Newcastle) around 40km plus & I did not go fishing (landbased). Today 37km winds are predicted. High tide late this afternoon. After viewing your video I will have a crack late this pm. Your video has encouraged me. I also bait fish when fishing with lures. Bitten off three times last time without seeing the fish. I use bait fishing to locate the fish. I mixed my lures up a bit. Soft plastic & crank baits but failed to get a hookup. The area I fish has snapper, chopper tailor, flounder & bream that I know of. Must be flathead around too. No bites no fish. My lure gear is very close to the gear you use. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you himderfella! That's a good way to locate fish by using bait. Blades, vibes and crank baits are also a very good option when windy. Sounds like there are fish in the area if you are getting bit off which is a good sign.
Hii
Good job bro, thanks. Was that lambeth reserve broadway?
Solid session mate! Hope to meet you one day, you inspired me to make videos!
Thanks Justin! That's great mate, I'll definitely check it out.
Shroom where’s this bridge?
Where is this second spot at?... i think my dad used to take me there as a kid, looks familiar.
Great work. I can't believe there are any fish there especially in those conditions.
Thanks Mal Drury. Yeah those conditions were horrendous. They must come in and out with the tide at times.
Fish generally don’t like wet conditions....
yeah fish dont like getting wet
Dude where’s this spot as I can’t go jumping around rocks and stuff due to a motorcycle accident that stuffed my right knee?
Looks like a spot I could take my son as well as we have competition between us that’s been going ever since we started fishing together and he’s winning atm😂
How to access in this Bridge ?
Hey mate is this the board walk at padstow ?
Shhhhhhh lol

my best catch over there is a king gorge whiting and also what lure are you using i rlly wanna know
Whats the reason for the gloves whilst fishing for iodine bream?
No it's nothing like that. I just like wearing them
What’s that thing you rubbed on and does that work for hard body lures and good video 👌
It's a scent/fish attractant called S Factor. It does work on hardbody lures as well. Give it a go.
Shroom thanks man
Nice session for a shitty day well done 👍🏻
Thanks tap.fishing sydney. A sesh like that always puts a smile on my face. :)
What's your go-to shrimp, craw, or crab soft plastic pattern when fishing in the estuary? :)
If you like the video, drop a thumbs up! It really helps me out.
Powerbait Bubble Spear in cinnamon blue fleck, tonnes of them in the bargain bin for $3. Worked great for bass, flatty and bream so far.
They look pretty insane. Only $3?! That's a bargain!
Can't beat em~
SPF MiniClaw, nice and buoyant sits upright on the bottom waiving around more than the crowd at a PSY concert 😂
@@ShroomFishing the only downside is the plastic is stiff as, good for 1-3 fish :(
What do recommend for a beginner bream soft plastic rod excluding the Shimano raider
Hey Abdul, what's your price range?
Hey@@ShroomFishingmy price range is 150
If you can handle a high carbon rod (no high sticking), then go the Daiwa TD Black Itchy Twitchy 6101LFS or Samurai Zing Gen II SZG 6101SL. They are close to 150 at current prices, but should get under during specials. These rods will serve you well if you look after them and will still be very useable even when you master soft plastic fishing.
Hi Shroom, could you tell me how I can choose the jighead hook size if I want to fish in George river? I tried to cast it further, and used the size 1 and 2, however not hook on the mouth, do you think it is too big.
Hi Z L. A good rule of thumb is to choose the jighead hook size and weight according to the lure you want to use. A size 2 is a good all round size for light line bream fishing and certainly not too big. If you are getting decent distance and getting hits, then it's working. If you are getting hits but not hooking them, it could be many reasons e.g., technique, bite-detection skills, size of fish possibly small etc. I hope that helps.
Can you send me the location to this place
Do you find here better on a high or low tide
A high is more consistent.
@@ShroomFishing thanks shroom your a champion
Hi Shroom, is the fish from this river system edible?
Hey Alex, not from here I wouldn't. I know people keep fish from here though.
Were are these locations
Middle/upper Georges River.
The amount of people I see keeping fish from those 2 spots 🤮 and undersized too ! Everytime I go I'm catching trolleys. Nice video
Thanks Andrew. Yep, I used to see a lot of the that down there but it seems to be less frequent now. There's quite a few trolleys in there and one that always shows up in my videos on low tide 😂
@@georgefisher1719 georges river is actually a very clean water way I don't eat fish my self but unlike parra river georges river actually clean high tidal flow and no toxins in sediment you can do your own research only time it's advised not to eat fish from there is after heavy rains I've lived on the river for s long time it's alot cleaner then people think parra river has and had alot of factorys on it and alot of toxins went in there from these factorys into the river and settled in the sediment that's why when they test the sediment it shows toxins which is why you should minimise or not eat anything from parra river no such issues in georges river trolley cars rubbish will not affect a waterway where the fish become unediable and waste from drains insectisdies this that will get drained out through out going tides pretty quick won't have time to affect fish.. if your really worried you should warn people about eating basa sold in some shady fish and chips places under barramundi which is imported from Asia and they come from a river called mekong river I know which river I would rather be eating
@@Jay-en7bw I see your point of view have you ever caught Estuary perch from that place ?
@@georgefisher1719 yes there is plenty in chipping norton lake
Like christmas everytime you upload haha keep it up bro.
Haha awesome Louie! I feel the same when I get positive feedback such as comments and likes. I appreciate it 💯
PB @ 1:12 :)
😂
What’s the best time to fish there?
Best when no one has been there and around the high tide.
When’s high tide?
It changes everyday. Refer to the tide times for the Georges River.
