This is one of my favorite episodes y’all have ever done. Started on Spotify and had to come over when Heather was describing the hooks so I could see. Love the history of her people, the culture, and her work is beautiful. Thank you to everyone involved.
Gunalchéesh this means a lot to me! And thank you for checking out the Náxw (wood hooks)
I’ve been listening. Had to jump on here to see some of the tools and clothing. Such a nice lady. Keep her on your feeds please. A pleasure to hear this cast.
Just finished this episode hands-down one of the best I’ve ever heard
You guys should have more natives on it will give your audience a different perspective
and help other viewers better understand some of the traditions of the old native ways as a fellow native and outdoorsman kudos to meat eaters for doing this hopefully this is one of many to come
Another fantastic presentation. Heathers personality and philosophy shine.
One of the best guests ever
Incredible episode. Probably one of the best that I've seen. Always cool to learn about Indigenous hunting practices and culture. Can't wait to see more of her!! 😃
Heather is awesome can't wait for he calls from the hunt.
Heather was fantastic, I loved listening to her!!
Her products are amazing
What a great person thanks for getting her on to share her culture. Great episode.
Awesome show, I’d love to see Alaska, hello from West Virginia.
Love her! Please check in with Heather on the regular!
Holey cow, what a treat that was! Thank you! You gotta have her around more.
I like the episodes with everyone but these more intimate setting interviews like this one are top notch.
Awesome episode! I watch them all while at work this is one of my favorites it’s incredible seeing a different culture where they seek food and sustainability where in most places of the us we get sucked into everyday work life
Very cool. Thank you for having her on.
Thoroughly enjoy viewing videos with her. They are educational about topics not alot of people get to see. Very relaxing as well.
Incredible woman, respectful, kind, knowledgeable and really impressive.
This was so good!
Great episode guys! That young lady is very beautiful inside and out. A tremendous individual! Thanks, Meateater.
all these episodes just keep elevating.
That was an amazing conversation!! I actually found myself zooming in on the video trying to miss anything she said.
1. I have listedn to almost every episode and she is in the top 5 for sure! Please have her on again! 2. You have to do an episode where Steve goes and fishesor hunts with her!
That was super cool!
Fantastic episode
❤❤❤ this is an amazing ep i hope you guys do more with her
This was a wonderful pod. The song at the end caught me off guard.. not sure if you always do that or not, as this was my first time listening to the podcast.. but that was a really nice way to cap it off. Cheers 🍻
One of the best episodes…… Steve and the team needs to have more native hunters and fishers giving information….. heck more information could help y’all harvest more :) Aho!!!!
Great episode. Those hats are so bad ass.
Gunalchéesh! I made my own pattern and it took about 5 attempts get it just right. they last a lifetime and Are extremely warm. I appreciate the kind words!
Every time I watch an episode from the "cabin" I'm waiting for the outlets to blow apart. There are a million cords plugged in behind Steve. lol Great episode!
Would be great to see info on the artist/song at the end of the episode ... in case people want to support him. Thanks.
Love this content 😎👌🏽
Interviews from the fish shack?! THANKYOU! Would love to hear from some other locals! Maybe someone in the forestry/minimg sector or an old tugboat captain, maybe someone in the crab/salmon fishing industry!
I’ll be waiting on a meat eaters episode following her along on an otter hunt
Seth's got great posture
Thank goodness for the wall or else I probably would have been a humpback 🐋 too
Followed for years, luv what she is doing, it's a crime she can't "legally" teach family members the tradition. This needs to change! Keep up with passing on tradition AK Moosie!
Awesome episode. Bought my fiancé one of her sea otter scarves
😭 Gunalchéesh for supporting my little business. I hope she likes it. Please Send pics!
This is an great episode, more of this please. Also more native people represented on Meateater would be awesome.
Wow the tradition is amazing, Never should a government be able to dictate a culture its sad.
nice 👍
Balance
So I'm now in love ... ❤
This would have been 1000% better with a second camera angle
SE alaska is full of kind folks like heather. If you go, remember where you are and whos land your using.
SE AK is the only place where you need to remember “whose land you are using”?
👍
Been to Craig a few times to buy some crown royal.
Anybody know the artist/song title at end of this episode? Thanks.
Steve, we all know what you look like by now… for better or for worse lol… how bout we put the guest in the screen facing chair?!
Phil, what headphones ya using???
Listened to audio only, then came to see the hooks and they’re so much cooler and more amazing than my imagination would have ever allowed for.
Leave the football players and celebrities for rogan or whoever; this is the stuff and conversations we all come here for. Whoever at meateater can’t see that is fkking UP
I assume those episodes with celebrities do well enough, or they probably wouldn't do them.
How’s this woman single?
1:15:24, I believe the words you're looking for is, Very demure, very mindful
How the heck does that thing catch a fish? I don't see how they wouldn't spit it out and not get hooked
@@akmoosie thank you, but isn't the barb inside the angled lure? When you look at it it seems that they could easily spit it out without the barb catching their lip
Steve's feet on her chair is wack😂
If we fished with these traditional methods today I can’t imagine how much less fishing gear and line would be polluting our lakes and oceans. Almost makes me want to throw out all my gear and do traditional instead. Almost.
Generic comment.
why don't you talk to the natives that want the ambler road?? doesn't fit your narrative?
I don’t want this or any space to be one where Indigenous people are divided, especially by comments like this. I am honored to be a part of this podcast, which amplifies Indigenous voices. I believe Steve supports uplifting our perspectives, acknowledging that not all views will be the same. Our aani (lands and waters) have sustained our way of life for tens of thousands of years. It is essential to honor the culture, history, and enduring wisdom of our ancestors who have lived on and stewarded these lands for centuries. I’m grateful to share that with all who listened to this podcast
@@akmoosie go find a church to preach at. this is the comments section on youtube.
@@akmoosie didn't Tlingit and Haidas have Slaves long after the civil war? how recently did that end?
To anyone who sees this, following Jesus is the only way to achieve salvation.
She’s amazing. Great episode. I love that it’s a more intimate conversation with less people. Please have her on again.
Gunalchéesh 🥹❤️
