      Hi, thanks! Yes 1Watt is adaptive as you can also see on my r9m power consumption video. The speaker buzzing is a known issue of electromagnetic inteferences. You can try to shield your speaker - or just turn down the volume of you taranis ;)

    Thanks for the video’s really helpful.
    Just wondering about your update cable to your R9MM when it’s in the quad.
    Do you have the R9MM powered from the FC RX 4.5v pad, so when plug a usb cable
    In it powers up or do you have to plug a lipo in?
    I have the same issue as you had and I would like the option to up date the R9MM rx when it’s
    In the quad rather than taking it out. I was going to just add a ground and Support cable and plug
    And power the FC, R9MM from the usb and update the firmware with plug connected to my Taranis
    minus the +v connection, but I don’t know if it’s ok to have
    Sbus connect when updating the firmware?

    • @TorbanDallas
      @TorbanDallas  5 років тому +1

      pablo i have connected my r9mini to the rx 5v and gnd pads of my helio fc. So the rx gets powered when i plug in the USB cable and when i power my r9mini over the taranis update cable it also powers my fc. But as you see in my video it works even without powering my quad over the usb or with the battery.

    • @pablofpv
      @pablofpv 5 років тому

      @@TorbanDallas Thanks for the reply, so your taranis supplies 5v on to the FC 5v line which then powers up the FC and the R9mini and the 3rd wire connects to the R9mini Support pad?
      That's interesting way of solving the problem.😁 .Its a shame you cant use serial pass through when the FC is powered ,then just have the Support pad permanently wired to a spare Uart or soft serial connection...

    It looks so stable in your video. I have the R9M in my QX7S and the R9MM receiver on my quad and this week I had to experience a scary flyaway. I think the receiver didn't activate failsafe because the Betaflight log says that the quad has had signal but I wasn't able to control it anymore.
    I don't know what happened because I tested failsafe several times before the flight and the quad would just turn off the motors when it looses signal. My failsafe is set to dump the quad. Anyone an idea what I can do? If someone was able to help me, I can provide the Betaflight blackbox log and the DVR footage.

      I really don't understand why so many people are using f.port. Just use one more wire to your FC and stay with s.port. Where's the benefit? Saving one wire? But getting Failsafes? Stop using f.port firmware and i promise, all of your issues will be gone. On some quads f.port works solid, but on many quads, it doesn't. It seems to be depending on the Flight Controller.

      Thanks for your comment! Well, there's three kinds of firmware versions for the r9m available: A FCC Firmware for everyone outside the EU, an EU Firmware for flying in the EU and the Flex Firmware - with the Flex Firmware you can set the ouput Frequency to the FCC 915MHz or to 868MHz for the EU. You're even free to set the output power of your R9M Module.
      And at last, you always should use the newest Firmware.

      David Hannigan Jr. Flex it's almost the same firmware as the fcc firmware, but you can change the frequency from 915MHz to 868MHz for the EU. So it's better for the EU Users. The EU LBT firmware is limited to 25mW or 500mW without telemetry.

      Das Wetter ist hier nicht besser :D Spaß macht das Fliegen bei den aktuellen Temperaturen nicht. Als ich das letzte mal fliegen wollte habe ich mich auf dem matschigen Feld sogar festgefahren - aus dem Fliegen wurde dann eine Auto Bergungsaktion. Zum Testen der neuen Firmware habe ich mich dann aber doch mal rausgequält. Anders klappt das Fliegen bei den Temperaturen gar nicht mehr.
      Im Vergleich zu meinen anderen Videos und Flügen kann ich eigentlich keinen Unterschied in der RSSI Darstellung feststellen. RSSI Wert sieht gleich aus, auch beim RSSI Output auf Kanal 16 hat sich nichts geändert, daher habe ich auch das Scaling etwas angepasst.
      Von Standardmäßig rssi_scale = 100 und rssi_offset = 0
      auf rssi_scale = 73 und rssi_offset = 27
      Auch nicht optimal aber so stimmt es in dem Bereich 50 - 60 %Rssi ziemlich genau mit dem Telemetry Wert überein.
      So ist der geringste RSSI Wert aber nicht mehr 0 sondern 27 und dann wird eben in 73 Schritten von 27 bis 100 skaliert.
      Wäre dennoch schön gewesen, wenn FrSky den Rssi Output auf dem Kanal 16 angepasst hätte.

    Any particular reason for not using fport?

    • @TorbanDallas
      @TorbanDallas  5 років тому

      Vincent Fischer i don't need it and i have heard about issues with the fport firmware. Try the fport firmware, if you have some issues with it go back to the sbus firmware

      @@TorbanDallas I'm using the fport firmware! And I have weird failsave like things happen that I don't have on another build where I use sbus. I'll try the sbus version on the problematic quad today. But if that would be the case I would loose a bit more confidence in using frsky gear because they don't have a single competent μC guy in their company it seems as this would totally be a software mistake on their end (how long is thenR9 system on the market?? how can stuff like this happen). Danke für den tipp

      Vincent Fischer please let me know when the sbus firmware solved the failsafes on your quad with the fport firmware.

      I have the flex firmware. Newest version on both tx and rx.
      868 antenna on the TX.
      Original antenna on RX.
      I have 100db RsSI value on the taranis but only 38-39 in the osd from betaflight.
      If I leave it for a few minutes with the battery connected it suddenly gets rx loss and I have to reconnect the battery for the quad.
      I have tried several times but I always get 38 RSSI

      @@Victor90NOR so you are using the rssi output on channel 16 of the r9 rx? It's scaled wrong that's why i have changed the scaling. I even mentioned my settings in the video description.
      You should also take a look at my FrSky r9m troubleshooting video!

      Haha, yes almost dead. I was recharging it to around 3,7 volts per cell quickly after that flight to keep it alive.
