had the final part of the series pop up, so i’m just catching up with the previous vids first. the dishwasher detail worked out lovely from where i’m standing haha. fine job pal
hello dell i love the atteion to detail with the shadow line on the dish washer........perfect finnish to that job such a pleasure when craftsmen think well outta the box 👍👍👍
Fiddly but worth it. The small details that nobody notices (I doubt the eventual householder will) but they would definitely notice if you didn’t take so much care in doing these things or didn’t bother. I know you said it wasn’t a cheap kitchen but it does look the business. Thanks for the video
I have to say I love the care and attention you give your jobs also really appreciate the tips you give superb solutions to real life issues with carpentry thank you keep up the great work.
The eyes might be gone Del but at least you no what you're doing 👏👏. Never seen a plinth set up like that before but it certainly seems a pain to do. Even when the plinth is set back and you just cut a notch in them they always look bad but that certainly looks good. Keep up the great work.
My feeling is John, that all kitchens are expensive and an important part of any home, and as such should be finished to as high a standard as possible👍Thanks for watching 😎 Cheers Del
I am no carpenter but the last kitchen I fitted I used magnetic catches to secure the cornice to facilitate their removal. Having seen how you solved the dishwasher and plinth removal I think I might give these a go for that location as I too am fitting these skirting plinths for the next kitchen. I think I know the supplier now 😊
alreet del. ive only done plinth skirtings once and you are 100% correct they are super time taking. i got around the dishwasher a little different to you. i had to fit the skirts about 5 or so mm lower than you have done due to the customer not taking on board advice about screeding the floor. she deemed it unnecessary so to get over it i fitted the plinths a little lower on the side of the room that the dishwasher was on and on the other side of the room they were in the position you have yours in. it did help a little bit and i ended up with the piece beneath the dishwasher was flush with the top of the skirt. it cleared the door fine but it was as close as i dared to take it. Looked decent in the end though
@@thetallcarpenter It would have been great to see you using them. Thanks for your feedback keep going with your great videos. If you want to try our other fixings I would be happy to help.
@grip2010dc To be honest, all I seem to be doing is kitchens at the minute, as my mate, who has a kitchen company's, main fitter has broken his arm and thumb on his motocross bike😬so I'm helping out👍I'll have a look at some of the other fittings on you website and see what we could use. Obviously more than happy to promote/use great products💪
Lovely job Del. I am glad I am not the only one who struggles to look out the correct part of their glasses. Drives me nuts. I used to have 20:20 vision until a few years ago 😂
It is all the finishing details that make the job stand out for the Customer and for a very quality job you should always stipulate in your contract that you require a very tall Carpenter to install the smallest of kitchen cabinet plinths but the quality of the end work you did was up there at Olympic Standard for sure there 😄
@@thetallcarpenter I’m on my 4th kitchen also but all 4 have been from different suppliers and all have been a bit different for fitting the first one I had to cut normal plinths in half for the backing etc but the second one supplied a backing and the plinth had a groove in the back and just clicked on the one I’ve just done had magnets for the corners I don’t mind them to be fair 👍
Great finish...money is in the detail....its always the smallest things that are the fiddly and frustrating parts of any job...but its always the same...grand job...
You can tell it's a bad idea when the plinth takes longer to fit than the rest of the kitchen! Style over substance, while it might look good it's just not practical to fit or remove and will be more prone to damage than a normal plinth. Another great job there Del and some great tips as usual, having fitted this type of plinth a couple of times I felt your pain, we all welcome a challenge but this is one you can do without.
You're spot on Ed, and this type of plinth is 'on trend' at the moment😶 As you suggest, plinths take a real beating and these projecting style ones will start to look tatty really quickly🤔Cheers
My grandfather used to keep a little shaving mirror in his truck so he could set it on the floor to avoid having to lay on the floor to see what he was doing in tight spaces when he was in his 70's and still working with us.
Well done big man, that bit of brain frying that comes with some kitchen installation. That's the kind of "dickin aboot" that certain folk won't think of nor care about and some then ask why you've taken so long. 👏👏👌
When I did the dishwasher plinth / skirting I think the instructions said to cut the block part to the width of the dishwasher and flip it upside down so there’s a recess at the top that way the tongue still fits into the groove on the back of the skirting. Took me 3 kitchens to work that out 😂
Hi Dell, ya I was gonna also say that surely it should be a toe kick detail rather than a skirt. I don't know how you fit skirt board in shorts Dell ha. Look after your knees
Hi there🖐These kitchens don't use the plastic floor strips, instead we seal the cut edge with either high grade silicone or clear construction adhesive/sealer👍Cheers
Must be satisfying Del getting to that part of a kitchen where most of the donkey work has all been done . Is that a Howden kitchen or where else do you normally buy them ?
There is plinth strips as well, clear and coloured. You've probably saw them before Del. The plinth and panel locks are two different sizes, handy enough for removable things.
@@thetallcarpenter It must be fashion over form! The idea behind a recessed plinth is to allow one to stand closer to the worksurface without your feet touching anythiing. This very nice looking plinth will get marked so quickly.
