  • With the making of Bridgerton the Regency Era is more popular than ever so I decided it was time for me to jump on this bandwagon and sew some Regency stays so I can eventually make myself a dress for a Georgian picnic I have coming up later this fall.

"are they the best I ever done?". I should ask myself that more often :D

When I first started making clothes I had never even heard of mockups!

I’m glad they turned out fitting you quite well. For me, I always need at least two mock-ups, because it seams like my body isn’t no where near the models they use to make the patterns.

FANTASTIC! It's good that your shift got more comfortable just wearing it. I don't know about that particular linen, but linen in general is supposed to get softer the more you wash it, so maybe it won't be as scratchy the more you wash-n-wear it. Looking forward to the next part!

The shift and stays turned out so lovely. Well done.
I completely understand your ambivalence about mock-ups, because I share them too. Unfortunately, being busty and curvy means that mock-up land is where I spend most of my time. I need to get back to my half-stays. I bought the Red Threaded pattern because, sweet summer child, I thought sizing up from a large to a 38F would be easy. After multiple tries I ended up with something that more resembles an 1890 corset with all of the boning I've added. Looking back, I think I'm actually closer to a finished garment than I thought...

They turned out great. I want to make regency stays so bad. Hopefully soon I will be able to. I just have so many projects ahead of it. Also I always am like that with my bobbin. Lol it always finishes when I'm almost done. Lol

Oh my goodness, stumbled upon your tea gown video by chance and have fallen absolutely in love with your channel! It's as if Frankie Derwent of "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" developed an interest in sewing and started filming the resulting escapades. Stylish, funny, and engaging? Yes, please! Keep up the lovely work, and best wishes to you.

Thank you for this video! I’m about to tackle making one and I’m a little scared bc I’m not super advanced in sewing and historical undergarments always seemed daunting. But now I feel well prepared to take it on!

I wanna know how does one get invited to regency events???😂 I’m in the middle of now where Texas if you were to poll a random person they won’t even know what the regency era even is.

Dallas has a costuming group. Can't speak to their events as I'm not a member, but it's what I've been able to find. (From a different corner of Nowhere, texas)

I'm also not a big regency era fan but I thought about making these stays for my regular wardrobe. Do you know if they have the pattern as a PDF as well?
