" Fine a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life" !!!!! Miss Taylor, I think you have done just that!!! I am proud of you!!! I really appreciate you sharing your journey ( life) !!! You all stay safe and God bless!!!! Eddy
I'm a new subscriber that said , is it Brent's knees or his hips that are bad ? Poor guy I feel horrible for him , but GOD BLESS him , he keeps on FARMING the old COOT !!!!!
It's good to see you are getting all the machinery prepared to cut and bale grass. Nothing worse than breaking down in the paddock and you don't have spare bits. Keep up your great work ethic and video content. Chris
Taylor, Amazon sells lots of hoof trimmers - all sizes and shapes including some like yours. Also, there are lots of U-tube tutorials on cutting, cleaning and repairing infected /injured cattle hooves if you want to see how the experts do it
If My buddy that lives just up from where I live if he and his brothers and father ever sold their farm and I happened to have the money I would love to buy their farm cows and Equipment included!!
Good morning Taylor, thanks again for yet another informative video. I really like the different views of your barn inside and out, and attached buildings and the reason you choose to go with cross bred cows. They are hardier, give better milk, and perfect for you area of our country. I hope your cow recovers from her bad hoof especially with all of the care Brent and you gave her. I do hope that you get a chance to buy that farm some day because your skills and knowledge are perfect for farming. Your videos seem to be clearer both in view and sound. Say hi to Brent and am looking forward to your next video. 😊
Tay, another great video. The barn tour was great. The farm I grew up on was built in the 1800's. We had between 40 to 50 Milkers at all times. Hay loft was upstairs, cows on the bottom. Had a trap door in the hay loft to drop hay down. Had a vertical silo on one end and a door to the pasture on the other. Milk house was separate from the barn. We used cans back then. No bulk storage. Had to bring the milk to the creamery everyday. Love your equipment, we used sickle bar mowers and hay rakes. Square baler for bales. Loved doing haying. My job was the raking. Also stacked the bales on the wagon. Glad to say never lost a bale off the wagon. Maintenance is always a pain, but was necessary. Enjoy your day. God bless
Thank you, that sounds like an amazing family farm! So much history! Not to mention the work ethic created on farms like yours just amazing! Personally I think you he less technology on equipment the better, you can fix it yourself and save money! Thanks so much for watching along
You continue to improve making the videos for us to enjoy. Hope your cow's foot recovers quickly. That was real interesting. The new calves all have great markings. I love how the cross breeding brings that out.
Great video Taylor thanks for your excellent explanation of what you do. You and Brent are so professional and informative not to mention instreestening. Please keep your videos coming coming. Regards from ireland Patrick Brazil.
My dream was to own a dairy farm such as the one you are on, but only made it to herdsman on several dairies in my twenties, but life took me in a different direction. I suggest reading Richard Triumpho's "Building Castles in the Air". It will encourage your dream.
Yea crazy busy. Getting lots of hours now. Glad I made the move to farming. I’ve got lots to learn. Every time I watch you and Brent I learn something. Thanks for the video.
Nice job , weather looks great. When our cleaner chain got bad we actually ran it daily so it moved less material and was lighter with less strain. I can only imagine what a chain for that barn cost today. Stay well.
seldom are two days the same. can you imagine what it would cost for a new barn roof ? i would suggest steel but i am not paying the bills...a 50 year roof?
We had a 30 cow stanchion barn expanded 45 so I know a little about barns. Just that from the inside your barn looks smaller than what the outside looks like. That is big and impressive. Also, you have a very good mentor. If my dad was as good, I might still be farming.
I got so sick and tired of fixing our barn cleaner [like yours] I decided to fill it in with gravel and concrete and cleaned the barn with a small tractor with back blade a few years after that we got are first skid steer. It took no time to clean with that. Just one more thing I enjoy your videos, and your dedication
I don’t blame you they sure can be frustrating. Sounds like a great solution! Might come to something like that for us as well if we can’t find parts. So glad you enjoy watching! Thanks for sharing!☺️
Taylor put add on market place for barn cleaner chain berg same as patz an right hand or clockwise chain as you no lot of people getting out of dairying should be able to find good used one as about half of new great videos your willing to learn your dream will come true you got hard work down hello from iowa
Must watch videos from you Tay! Can the farm deduct a portion of the cost for equipment repairs from the business income taxes each year? Thank you Tay!
She's chewing her cud! Stick her foot right in the bucket for a while!( Maybe Brent will leave the farm to you!😉) Experience is the best teacher, sometimes a harsh one! The old Patz had an oil drip box!
Yeah, she was still making sure to get her share! We could could hope right😂. Sounds like the old path had a better design, as usual new things aren’t always better!
Do any of the cows get seriously injured with I guess the manure pit right behind their feet? I do miss Maine. Use to live in the Bangor area for a while.
Unfortunately if you buy a farm nowadays you need at least twice the production you have there now ! Im sure Brent either has the farm paid for or because its been in his family for years his payments are affordable for his production! The only way you could do it at this time is if Brent finances you like rent to own! In order for you to make it when you start out you'd need close to new equipment so you jave very low maintenance costs for a few years while your getting established! Unfortunately nice enjoyable farms don't pay the bills no more! I wish you male your dream for real!!!
Respectfully I disagree, profit margins are fairly equal whether large or small. Larger farms require more laborers, larger equipment, and far more technology to run efficiently. Not to mention the government money being taken. Small operation do have to be more business savvy and willing to try new things and adapt but I believe that’s true of all businesses in this economy. I agree it will be tuff but where there is a will there’s a way!
The big farmers get at paid more per hundred for their milk simply because its lot more milk quality don't matter just bulk does ! Which means if your getting 16 dollars per hundred weight theyre getting 19 to 24 per hundred! If they enroll in a immigrant plan through our government they get plenty of perks including half the wages they pay the government reimburses! Will I won't detail it just saying banks don't like dealing with small businesses as a rule and they especially don't like small farmers ! Dont forget their cows are pushed to make 80 plus pound herd average also ! Yes that means a 4 year old cow is considered old which sucks but it is what it is! We definitely need to go back old fashioned ways! I love the old farming style!
Busy day. Getting ready for the first cut. Have you thought about taking Those links to a machine shop.Any Good machinist could make those Or a blacksmith.
i have no idea what the situation with patz hook and eye barn cleaner chain is now a days . around 20 years ago patz went with a different company to produce their chain . far inferior to the graetz chain patz used before that time.
my friend took his chain out now he has an attachment on the skidsteer that pushes the poop out the end and picks it up into spreader spreads every day rain or shine wants to make a place to pile it in winter, remember help is hard to find if you want the farm his two help some how pushed a nice heifer out of the barn and broke her leg while he was gone had to shoot her, boy was he upset beutiful aryshire cross
Hi! That sounds very resourceful, I can see why he would want a place to pile it in the winter though that can be some cold spreading. I can’t even imagine how upsetting that would be! Some people just shouldn’t be around animals.
Genetics, diet and over all over tired is to blame. As a truck driver. I get it. I force myself to eat more vegetables and lots more salads... IT SUCKS AT TIMES... but.... its better than the alternative... 😊
Absolutely mostly genetics, Brent’s father worked on this very same farm same barn and all. He never had an issue with his knees. Comes from his mother side I guess. I definitely won’t miss out on my dream job just because I may have bad knees someday!
I love your videos, please use cylinder safety locks while your under equipment ❤
This beautiful lady is what makes our country great.

Good work, Tyler, on the farm and have a nice Christmas 🎄 🤶😷on Tay farm's
