Another thing about an emergency kit is that it can be a heck of a moral booster. Knowing that you have the necessary supplies when an emergency hits can go to along way to preserving your mental preparedness as well.
Good advice. One thing I think should be revised. Your key rack. If no one's home and someone breaks in... you might want to find a way to secure all that.
Thank you for this video. Stockpile foods and supplies today. Wear masks and gloves. Be safe. Action plans are good. An emergency can arise at any time. First aid kits and other tools are vital to our survival.
I remember shortly after I started carrying an emergency get home bag. I was towing a trailer full of garbage and couldn’t fully cover it with the tarp I had. So I was able to use my emergency one to help cover the load. I went out the next day and bought a new tarp to replace the one I had taken out of the kit. Not an emergency but it did save me from getting a ticket for littering and from possibly causing an accident.
Something to consider about flashlights. Recharging may not always be possible. If the charge goes out and you still need light waiting for recharge is not an option. The new 123 batteries seem to last longer but are not as common as AA and AAA, especially if you are not in an urban area or are in a 3rd world area. Availability of batteries is important. Even in remote 3rd world areas AA and AAA can be found, you may have to look around but they are the most common.
Might want to invest in some kind of fire proof container for important supplies now that I just watched a video about dave canterbury's house burning down.
I want to suggest that you make a video with the uses of Inner tube rubber from car tires, bike tires etc. I came from a tiny island Rota - Northern Mariana Islands. Locals depend on the island for survival and inner tube is used by hunters and fishers. Although not all for SHTF scenarios but a very inexpensive tool. We cut the inner tube length wise into long strips of different widths. We use it for tying robber crabs and other game, on pipes as a hair tie, on machete or other tool handles for better grip, as a sling, a belt, shoe lace, strap, heck you could tie up your partner if you wanted to. I was hunting one afternoon and the bottom part of my shoe came out, i just whipped out a string of inner tube and tied that shoe around my foot and made it home without tearing my foot apart. it even makes a great fire starter. We have even used it as a pouch for carrying things. I think your followers will find this info very useful. plus I kinda was hoping you would mention my husband in one of your videos (ha-ha) his name is Brian Richards. Thanks & God Bless America, Long Live the Republic.
Winner of a video, I have been researching "prep list for disaster" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Reffailarly Translucent Preparation - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my partner got amazing results with it.
The medication is very high on my list of things to prepare for. We lost our prescription insurance a number of years ago and I ran out because we couldn't afford it. When we were able to get insurance again, I skipped my full dosage until I had nine months of medication saved up. Sometimes insurance has restrictions on how much they will authorize. Keep that in mind when preparing your medications.
lol. I always see something I could use, need, or add to a wish list, especially from this gentleman. We've been at it for some time. Don't know when it happened, but, it became a lifestyle. A few years ago, we began a group, mainly for info sharing via FB. From there, we became closer to the point that last week, several of us went in together on a hog purchase -- a family farm offered their hogs direct to the public rather than kill them when the market was hit hard. Members bought 16 hogs, some gathered to process, all of us now have at least a whole hog canned or in our freezers.
2 years off and on prepping. People think I'm crazy but then again they're the ones who complained about not having tp when crap hit the fan during this virus
We put the extra car keys at a family’s house. But I would put change of clothes in the trunk because a house fire you maybe standing out side in what they went to bed in. And put a extra keys out side of your house and not on the car. Like under garden gnome or child swing set because a house fire you will not go for the keys you are going for your family.
We have a propane stove in the kitchen and a big, well stocked pantry. Our big issue is water. We have a well, but that requires power. We currently us 5 and 6 gallon water jugs filled, giving our family about a week's worth of water. We are looking into an auxiliary hand pump on the well.
Seriously, do not become totally dependent upon technology. My wife had a meeting to go to one day, and she used Mapquest. I used to be a delivery driver in the area she was going to, and because I knew the roads VERY well, I showed her a route that took SIX MILES off of what Mapquest had!
It's always important to have another computer brain for your car. Toyota Camrys from the Year 1997 to 2001 have the computer box inside the glove compartment. So what you do is you go to wrecking yard or buy one on the computer rather auto store and wrap many layers of soil around the computer box brain and keep it with you in the trunk of your car. Then all you have to do when the EMP knocks your computer out when it fries your computer you just pull out the old computer and take the new computer out of your trunk and install it in your car and you're good for a while.
From their past track record, I would not trust FEMA any farther than I could throw them( seems like they are always late to a disaster area and way short on supplies even when they know a disaster is coming such as a hurricane)! As far as water, 2 gallons per person and 1 gallon per pet per day! As far as food, I always buy a little extra( you would be surprise how much food one could acquire over time)!
Been ordering off of a company by the name of Bravo Sierra for hair and body cleanser bar. Which is good for 30 to 40 showers. Suds up real well. I'm also making an emergency bag with some clothes, hygiene kit, and trying to get pre-made food for a few days, but not having any luck with that though.
Get yo know local farms, they'll have everything you need but the distributors might not be able to move them. For instance in my area you can pick up 1/4, 1/2 or a full cow if ypu wanted or can store. Eggs, milk, poultry, vegetables, flour, fruits the stores are empty but they have it all.
Good info I think 3 totes are better then on in that smaller tote could be handled by children if they are well trained children are always glad to help if they are asked to. Also smaller totes could be stashed between seats of a van or Your Family Sport Family APC. If you planned your have important items right where they are needed. Or at least in one of the top tote. Unless your like my family that opted to carry a bag of shampoo and other toiletries that I had my $80 leatherman super tool inside it. Questions aboutt water containers...can you pour water straight from the tap into the containers, or do you have to boil the water first before storing in the water containers? Thank you.
You will need a way to safely boil water and cook indoors (a one burner butane stove + butane cylinders) when it is too cold, too wet or unsafe to cook outdoors. You will need a way to quickly and cheaply get a supply of water if a hurricane or major winter storm is heading your way (store a lot of empty and cleaned 1-qt soda bottles with their caps and half gallon juice bottles and their caps). You will need a manual can opener. You will need some solar-charged lanterns for safe night lighting especially if you have small children or pets (Luci brand outdoor camp light with inflatable base is a good choice). You will need a reliable way to monitor weather info and emergency broadcasts (get a solar-charged NOAA weather radio). You will need a lot of shelf-stable pantry food (canned goods and dry mixes). You will need ways to stay warm in winter when the power grid is down (wool or quilted clothing, sleeping bags, a Mr. Buddy propane heater specifically designed for indoor use). You will need basic first aid supplies, a variety of commonly used over the counter meds and training in first aid and CPR.

Many fix a flat glues you put into your tire let you drive less than 15 kms before they disintegrate the rubber. Worst advice you can give. Buy a roadside kit with a small portable compressor and you just top up your tire's air pressure. Also, why not mention communication like short wave radios and 2 eay scanners? Knowledge is power and knowing what's coming lets you be aware and prepared to what's in the next city or wherever you're heading.

A good tip for that world gone crazy situation: to make a poor man's safe room in your home empty out a walk in closet and line it with filled sand bags. Depending on how many you have in thickness will depend on Calibre of weapon it will stop. One sandbag thick should stop a lot of handgun rounds, but it takes 3 feet of sand to stop an AK 47 round so it would be hard to set it up to stop rifle rounds.
Would be good if you could attach a list of everything you just said to have instead of having to go through the vid over and over and compile the list when we could just cut and paste your attached list and print it.
I recommend a key safe. Leaving out the keys to one of your most valuable items is not good sense. Guy breaks in gathers your stuff and then takes your keys and truck. Lock your keys up.
