Once the GDP numbers come out at the end of July that will then confirm we are in a recession . Also what do you think of I- Bonds currently paying 9.6 % , with inflation going to be around for a couple more years I am buying I-Bonds every week … Altria Group has a real nice dividend and as the market drops the better off you are when you are still buying …

I-Bonds seem like a decent buy for a hedge against inflation! To be honest we haven't considered because we don't want yet ANOTHER place for our money to live, we have enough accounts already haha. Altria's numbers look appealing, especially with their long history of growing their dividend - however can't get around the ethics of their business. Just don't want to support the tobacco business, and we also don't invest in oil/gas companies for that reason :/

Fair point, we have not experienced a recession as adults yet. But knowing that they are inevitable, we have done extensive research on past recessions in order to attempt to bullet-proof our portfolio. The main thing we've been doing with our money over the past 5 years is saving it, with doing so have been able to save 3-4 years of living expenses in cash, in addition to growing an investment portfolio of long-term resilient companies, and avoid companies that have blown up over the past few years like tech stocks and crypto (which can fall just as fast). So that is why we're not worried in the short/medium term with the economy, we are looking at LEAST 5+ years out to evaluate what we should be doing. I think anyone can build a similar wall around their finances so they don't have to worry, the key is just to start as soon as you can, and especially not put it off until times are already bad

Good evening america people , i live in south of France as a single man without family , i try to be on retirement as soon as possible
Like many people , i wonder about the ability to invest , the euro zone is strongly impacted by this inflation ( France is about 7,5% ), i hope that real estate will remain a safe haven , i'm ready to invest there next year after a happy event : the end of my reimbursement of my apartment bought 8 years ago thanks to my savings on transport-food-accomodation , i will be 40 years old , congratulations on your journey , gob bless america and vive la France 😉

Thanks for the comment! I'm not too familiar with the state of France's economy, but seems like inflation is affecting you similarly to how it is here in the US. Sounds like you have a good mindset about your finances. I don't think there is a single BEST investment you can make, it depends on the individual and most importantly it's about STICKING to a plan. Best of luck to you on your journey! :)
