As kids we were allowed to watch Mash, Hogan's Heroes, Dad's Army and the news Says it all we were militarised by GDad he was our super hero.

He fought in the Philippines and at Midway. He was very quiet he didn't ever have to really say anything. Those men were cut from a different cloth, if something broke you fixed it you didn't go buy a new one. If you had problems you solved them yourself, you didn't wait for somebody to do it for you. I think real Independence ends with generation x. There are no more latchkey kids that figure things out for themselves.
